~ Part 8 ~
Ashlesha returns home later that day, with love bites on her neck, from making out with Rajveer. Meher notices the love bites, and thinking Preet caused them, because not only Ash, but Preet himself was also out the rest of the day, after everyone found out Heer's innocence. Thinking that Preet does really love Ash, and not her, Meher gets sad, and starts crying. She makes it up in her mind to leave the house, so that with her out of the way, Preet and Ash are able to get back together.
Just as Meher finishes packing her suitcase, with tears still in her eyes, Preet enters their room. Seeing Meher pack her bags, he immediately goes to stop her from doing so.
"Meher, ruk jaao. Yeh kya kar rahi ho?"
"Yeh ghar chodkar jaa rahi hoon."
"Lekin kyun? Kisine kuch galat toh nahin kaha na?"
"Nahin Preet. Lekin shayad hum dono ek doosre ke liye bane hi nahin the."
"Kya matlab Meher? Hum toh achche dost hai na?"
"Sirf achche dost, Preet? Sirf achche dost? Preet, humare shaadi ke almost 6 mahine ho chuke hain, aur tum mujhe abhi sirf apne ek achcha dost maante ho?"
"Par...Lekin..."
"Kuch mat bolo, Preet. Shayad maine tumse shaadi karke galti ki. Phir bhi shaadi theek thi, lekin uske baad, jab main tumse... Khair chodo... Yeh sab baatein tumhein bataane ka koi faayda nahin. Main yeh ghar chodkar jaa rahi hoon. Tum aur Ashlesha saath mein khush rehna." says Meher, as she leaves the room crying, and this time, Preet is unable to stop her.
Confused as to why she is acting this way, as well as near-devastated due to the fact that she is leaving this house, Preet sits down on the bed. Unknown to him, tears start falling out of his eyes as he thinks of the moments he spent with Meher - that time they were stuck in the snowstorm, all the times he flirted with her, and she fought back by hitting him with a pillow.
"Ab tu kabhi use apne dil ki baat bata nahin paayega Preet. Woh toh yeh ghar chodkar hamesha ke liye door jaa rahi hai." Preet thinks to himself, unable to stop Meher, for some unknown reason, despite badly wanting to.
"Use roko Preet." That is Ash, who comes in to the room, telling Preet to go and Meher from leaving the house.
And now, Preet gets angry, thinking why should he go and stop her if it was her choice to leave the house. He tells Ashlesha, "Main use kyun jaakar rokoon? Woh toh apne marzi se chali gayi. Mujhe chodke. Akela."
"Haan Preet, lekin kyunki use lagta hai ki tum abhi mujhse pyar karte ho."
"Lekin kyun?"
"Isiliye," says Ashlesha, showing the love bites that Raj gave her. She continues, "Main aur Raj ek doosre se bohot pyaar karte hain. Bachpan se. Preet, jo kuch humare beech mein hua tha, woh sirf infactuation tha. Jo beet gaya, so beet gaya. Lekin, shayad Meher ko yeh baat nahin pata ki tum use pyar karte ho. Use laga hoga ki tumne hi mujhe yeh love-bites diye hain, aur isiliye woh ghar chodkar gayi hai kyunki use lagta hai ki tum mere saath hi khush rahoge. Preet, Meher ko roko. Use bataao ki tum sirf uske saath khush reh sakte ho, ki tum sirf usse pyar karte ho. Abhi der nahin hui hai. Agar tum abhi neeche gaye, toh Meher ko darvaaze ke baahar jaane se pehle rok paaoge."
Without replying to Ashlesha, because he does not want ot waste any more time, Preet rushes down the stairs. As he runs down to the living room, he calls out Meher's name. And Meher, who is just about to step out of the house, does not turn back. But then, suddenly, while climbing down, Preet misses the last few steps of the stairs and falls down.
"Aaahhh...!!!!!!!" says Preet, hurt.
Hearing Preet in pain, Meher rushes to him. Lalit, Kulraj, Ashlesha, and all the others too, come out to see what Preet screamed for. They are stunned to see that Preet has fallen. But then, Lalit sees Meher rushing to Preet, with love in her eyes. Lalit looks up, and sees Ashlesha, who just nods at him, ensuring him that the are both thinking the same thing - "it's Preet and Meher's tme to be alone. Let them sort out their problems, if any, and perhaps, they will finally bring out their true feelings to each other."
Meher rushes to Preet, who has a small wound on his head, and helps him sit up.
"Preet. Seediyon se neeche utarte waqt dhyaan diya karo. Dekho, tumhara pair fisal gaya na. Tum idhar hi roko, main first aid box lekar aati hoon. And don't move an inch" Meher says, practically ordering Preet, who obediently follows whatever she says.
Meher comes back with the first aid kit, and cleans up Preet's wound, giving it a dressing later. All the time, Preet is just looking at Meher, staring into her eyes, while Meher is too busy in trying to lessen Preet's wound and pain. After she finishes, she leans back, and finds Preet staring at her. Meher too, then becomes lost in Preet's eyes.
Finally, Preet breaks the silence and the moment when he clears his throat. Plucking up the courage, he decides to tell Meher about his true feelings for her - that he loves her deeply.
"Umm, Meher..."
"Kya hai Preet?"
"Mujhe tumse kuch kehna hai."
"Toh kaho Preet"
"Meher..."
"Kya hai? Jadli se bolo, varna main abhi ghar chodke chali jaaoongi" says Meher, irritated at Preet's hesitation.
"Ok...Ok...Meher, main nahin jaanta ki kab, kaise, kyun, lekin main yeh zaroor jaanta hoon ki main tumse bohot pyar karta hoon. Mere aur Ash ke beech jo kuch tha, woh mere attraction se kuch bhi nahin tha. Woh kuch maayne nahin rakhta. Agar kisi cheez ka matlab hai, toh woh yeh baar hai ki main tumse pyar karta hoon. Sirf tumse pyar. Hamesha hamesha ke liye, aur main kisi aur ka hone ke baare mein soch bhi nahin sakta." says Preet, all in one breath, confusing Meher, as she is unable to understand what he is saying.
"What??! Tum kya keh rahe ho? Meri kuch samajh mein nahin aa raha. Dheere se kaho."
"Meher... Baat darasal yeh hai ki main Ashlesha se nahin, balki tumse pyar karta hoon. Sirf tumse pyar."
Preet reaches out his hand to catch hold of Meher, but is unable to do so because she suddenly stands up. She is facing away from him, so he is unable to see her reactions. Preet holds her hand to stop her from going anywhere, and that's when she turns around to give him a slap on the face.
Shocked, Preet touches his hand to his cheek where Meher just slapped him.
"Tum mujhse pyar karte ho, toh phir itni der kyun laga di apne feelings ke baare mein bataane ke liye? Pata hai, main yeh ghar isiliye chodke jaane waali thi kyunki mujhe laga ki tum Ash se pyar karte ho." Meher says, breaking down in tears.
"Toh yeh thappad isliye tha kyunki maine tumhein bataane mein itni der kar di?"
"Haan" says Meher, breaking down into tears, as she lightly hits on Preet's chest. Preet manages to catch her hand, and when he does, she looks up at him. Seeing the love in his eyes, as he does the same in her eyes, both Preet and Meher hug each other.
When they part, Preet says, "Vaise... Tum ho toh bohot khoobsoorat... Lekin jab tum roti ho na..."
"Jab main roti hoon toh kya?" Meher asks?
"Jab tum roti ho na... Toh yeh mote mote aasoon..."
"Kya, Preet?"
"Jab tuim roti ho toh yeh mote mote aasoon tumhein aur bhi mote banate hain."
"Haan... Wait, kya kaha tumne Preet?" Meher says, finally understanding what Preet was saying. "Tumne mujhe moti kaha, Preet? Abhi dekhti hoon... Main nahin tumhein nahin chodoongi.. Preet ke bachche! Kahan bhaag rahe ho? Come back here this instant...!" says Meher, trying to run after and catch Preet, who is trying to run away from her, after teasing her.
Lalit, who happened to look out of his room just then, smiles at Preet, having heard what he said. Lalit says, "Yeh Preet na... Kabhi nahin sudhregaa...!"
Meher chases Preet all around the house, all the way up the stairs, and down the stairs again. Meher is amazed at how fast Preet can fun despite just getting wounded from falling down the stairs. After having gone up the stairs for the third time, and after that, into their bedroom, Meher feels tired, and finally gets an idea how to make Preet give up the chase, and "apologize for making fun of her".
Pretending to be tired, Meher sits down on their bed, after reaching their room. Preet, who seems to be worried for Meher, comes so sit beside Meher, offerring her some water from the glass placed on a small table by the bedside. But, before he can pick up the glass Meher takes a pillow out from behind her, and hits Preet with it.
Preet reacts by taking another pillow from the bed, and hits Meher back with it. After some time, both fall on the bed, truly and actually quite exhausted from running around and "doing all that masti". Preet turns to look at Meher, who looks away because she is flushed, as well as sort of blushing and she does not want Preet to see that.

Preet, gets a naughty look in his eyes, and gets up to close the bedroom door and lock it. He turns back to look at Meher, with that naughty look still in his eyes. Meher, who has by now noticed that Preet is not beside her, looks up, and sees Preet coming at her, with that naughty look. Meher tries to retreat back on the bedand escape, but is too late, as Preet closes in on her.
As he pins her down under him, Preet kisses Meher on her forehead first, then temple, cheeks, and brushing past her lips lightly, goes to her neck. After teasing her for a while there, he looks into her eyes again, and while staring intently, puts his lips on hers. Soon, the bed covers are pulled up, and the rest is left for you to imagine😆
