Hey everyone I have managed to write up the next part, i started writing and the part has grown to be really long so i will post it in two parts.
In this part i have introduced two new characters. Diya-Kasturis friend and Amar who you will find out more about later
Recap:
Kasturi has landed herself a job with Sabarwal Industries as head of HR. Devika has employed her and seems to have a liking towards Kasturi. Robbie is the Head of the Marketing department. All the female employees are head over heels in love with Robbie, Robbie however only prefers to spend time working and nothing else. RoKa are yet to meet.
Part 3: Promising start
It is Kasturis first day at Sabarwal Industries (SI). She wakes up earlier than normal, she takes a shower, does her pooja and tries to eat something for breakfast. She only manages to have a slice of toast and some tea, she is feeling very nervous as first days at a new work place can be very daunting. For the tenth time Kasturi checks her wardrobe looking for something to wear. She had picked a soft pink and green salwar suit the night before, but she decides to change her mind and now opts to wear a black and white one instead. She cant help but remember noticing the female workers at SI and how well they were dressed, she hardly saw anyone in any kind of Indian wear. They all wore western trouser/skirt suits and shirts, even Devika Sabarwal wore a long jacket and trousers. Kasturi puts on her clothes and wonders again if whether she made the right decision or not by accepting the job offer. Her thoughts are broken by a knock at the door. Kaushi walks in to see if Kasturi is ready.
Kaushi: Tayar hogaiyi puttar? chal jaldhi neeche aaja, tere bauji intezaar karahe hai.
Kasturi smiles at her mum and nods saying that she will be down soon. She remembers how happy her family were when they found about her job at SI. Kasturi decides to give this job a chance and leave the rest to god. She grabs her bag and heads downstairs.
At the breakfast table Tannu, Navneet, Kaushi and JP are all eating. Kasturi takes her mothers blessings and says: acha maa mein abh chalti hoon. She looks towards JP, who is looking at his daughter with pride and joy. He had longed for the day when Kasturi will graduate and get a good job. He was so happy that she has got the chance to pursue her dreams. He picks up the bowl of yogurt and puts a spoonful in Kasturis mouth and says: Ja puttar ja, aaj teri pehli din hai, poore mann aur lagan se kaam karna. Kasturi heads outside and laughs in her mind saying: I hope I am not late today as well.
Kasturi reaches SI on time and finds Rita (Devikas assistant) waiting for her at reception. Rita introduces her to some of the other new employees who have also started today. There were 5 others, 2 girls joining marketing, 2 guys for finance and 1 other guy for the IT department.
Rita: Devika Maam has arranged for an induction programme today, where you all will be introduced to everyone from the Sabarwal family, heads of your departments and your colleagues. You will also be shown your new cabins and the rest of the building.
It was all very exciting for Kasturi she was happy to meet the new employees. The entire nervous butterfly like feelings she had in her stomach had all disappeared and now she was really looking forward to start working.
Rita takes all six of them to the conference room where they will start their induction meeting. The room was very large in size; comfy revolving black chairs surrounded the large oval glass table in the middle. There were large glass windows around the room on looking the open plan office floor on the level around and below. Kasturi sat down next to one of the girls joining marketing.
'Hi I am Diya.' The girl extended her hand towards Kasturi and smiled. Kasturi shook her hand and said: I am Kasturi, nice to meet you.
Diya: So you're the new head of HR I guess? You're so lucky to have landed this job at such a young age…..all the best
Kasturi: Thank you. Yes it is a huge responsibility. Marketing is interesting, you must be happy with your new job?
Diya: Yes I enjoy Marketing; my last job was in the same thing so I have lots of experience. Plus I have heard that the head of marketing here is a very good looking man. He has also been listed recently as the most eligible bachelor in Mumbai.
Diya winked at Kasturi and giggled like a teenager.
Kasturi couldn't help but laugh slightly uncomfortably at Diyas comment. Is that the only reason for her to apply for this job? Kasturi thought
Diya: not only that he is also the only son of the Sabarwals, the heir to all their possessions. Can you imagine how lucky that girl will be who he decides to marry?
Diya continued talking and almost went off in a dreamy mode.
Kasturi: I don't think iv heard about him. Who is he?
Diya: oh my god have you not heard of Robbie Sabarwal? Diyas mouth was almost wide open as if Kasturi had never heard about the likes of Mahatma Gandhi, Barack Obama or even Amitabh Bhachan.
Kasturi looked a bit confused as if she was scanning her mind trying to figure out if she had heard the name Robbie Sabarwal or not. Just then Devika entered and called for everyone's attention. They all turned and straightened themselves in their chairs.
Devika: I would like to welcome you all and congratulate you for joining us here at Sabarwal Industries. Im sure you all know who I am. I was hoping to introduce you to the rest of the Sabarwal family but……….
Just then Puru, Nikhil and Alaana walked in. Devika frowned at their lateness but tried to carry on talking when Puru said:
Puru: but we all shall introduce ourselves. He gave Devika a slight smile and walked over towards the front where Devika was standing with Nikhil and Alaana following behind.
Puru was standing tall and firm. He was wearing a Black suit with a shiny silvery shirt. (Puru always wore this funny shirt in the serial lol)
Puru: Hello everybody. I am Puru Sabarwal, head, CEO, manager, owner etc whatever you like to tag me as of Sabarwal Industries. I welcome you all on board our ship, that is the company and hope you all will take our Business further and help maintain its position at the very top.
Puru spoke in a very bold and strong manner. He certainly had the typical business man tone, his words were few, straight to the point that spoke in volumes. Puru had a slight kindness to his voice, he maintained eye contact with everyone and gave out a warm smile. He sure knows how to treat his employees regardless of who they are or what department they work for. Puru treated everyone equally.
Puru stepped to the side and allowed Nikhil to come forward.
Nikhil: Good morning everyone I am Nikhil, Nikhil Sinha. I am the son in law of the Sabarwal family and at present head of the Finance Department. It is so nice to see new young talent joing our workforce, especially young ladies. He said pointing towards the girls. Alaana just then pinched Nikhil slightly forcing him to change his words. Nikhil: I mean, its good to see the females also standing against and competing with the men for high demanding roles. Nikhil coughed uncomfortably, while Devika rolled her eyes. She knew Nikhil was only joking but Alaana would always get so worked up about it all.
Alaana: Hello everybody I am Alaana Sinha. Daughter of Sabarwal family. I don't work here but thought I would introduce myself. I am also Nikhils wife. She said that bit with great emphasis. There was a slight snigger in the room. Nikhil glared at her and signalled to leave.
Nikhil: okay we shall make a move I have work to do. See you all later. He wanted to shake hands with them but decided not to. He felt embarrassed as it is, Alaana would for sure create another scene if he shook hands with the ladies.
The rest of the meeting continued with the normal formalities. They all were about to leave for break before heading to their sections when Devika stood up and said: There is another member of our family and important part of our company yet to be introduced. Unfortunately Robbie is unable to attend the meeting he is offsite, I shall introduce you all to him when he does come in.
They all left and walked towards the dining hall. Kasturi and Diya got a cup of coffee and sat down. They spoke about themselves, family, education etc. they seemed to really hit it off well. Diya left after a while and went to see her department. Kasturi sat at the table on her own and reflected back on the morning. She thought about Diya and how confident and out spoken she was. She was a little crazy but seemed to be a nice person. Kasturi was happy to have made a friend already.
Kasturi was given instructions to make her way towards the HR department on the 6th floor at 11am. Kasturi drank her coffee and headed towards the lifts. She reached the the 6th floor and noticed the Marketing section was also on the same floor. She walked towards the HR section and knocked on the door. A middle aged woman called Gayatri opened the door and welcomed Kasturi in. She introduced her to the rest of the workers and showed her around. She then took Kasturi to her own cabin.
Gayatri: This is your cabin, feel free to decorate it and move things around according to your taste. There is a list of things for you to do on the desk, it's a bit like a starter task sheet to help you find your feet here. By the way I am only acting HR head at the moment, Amar is on leave so I am covering for him. Amar will show you the rest and train you when he is back next Monday, you can meet him then.
Kasturi remembered Devika telling her that there is already another HR head who she will be working with. Kasturi thanked Gayatri for her help and made herself comfortable in her cabin.
She looked at the task sheet, her first task was to take a form to all the Heads of every department and have them filled in. Since the marketing section was on the same floor she decided to start from there. Kasturi printed off the forms, picked up a folder with all the details inside and went out.
I know this part was slightly long and boring.....but to make up for it in the next part RoKa meet 😉
