Huh!!! So many speculations about the story!!! And I love to read them ALL!!! Keep reading!!! It seems that many have a biased opinion towards Daksh that he cheated on bani, I agree men usually do but still it is a biased opinion...Well can't say!! I have not planned to write him for now; he will be coming in very late into the main story... THANK YOU once again!!!

PART-5

Jai examined the construction site... the terrain was rocky, not a flat surface to begin construction soon...it had to be leveled properly...explaining this to his assistant he moved away, over to the edge of the cliff...he looked out...the sun between the two adjacent hills, it was beautiful...radiant yet soft...suddenly he realized that his life had become so hollow, he didn't remember the last time he was happy or at least tried to be happy, he missed sonali...wished she was here, holding his arm gushing over the scenic site before him... like old times, but something which was lost once couldn't be renewed, it was simply lost...buildings could be made again but relationships, it was difficult, very difficult and specially when there was no effort... sonali had made her own world, he his, both living under the same roof like a room-mates, even their love-making had become mechanical reduced to a mere bodily want... ...he didn't want to blame sonali for whatever happened, she was suffering her own loss, but it wasn't his fault either... ....

Kiran looked shocked as the doctor, as the family doctor told her...

"Yeh, yeh nahin ho sakta...zaroor kuch galat hain....meri bani....nahin..." kiran howled...

"Main samajh sakti hoon kiranji...par...aaj kal ke bache...kya kab...hume kahaan kuch khabar hoti hain..." the doctor said sympathetically...

"Par...ab kya..." kiran couldn't held back her tears... bani was sad and lost for the past many days, much to the mystery of kiran and nishikant, kiran had tried to enquire her but bani always brushed it off telling her that she was tensed about the results, when in reality she desperately was trying to contact Daksh...she had send him endless mails, but no reply came, his mobile was out of reach...she tried every means but no avail...one day out of krian's persuasion, she had accompanied her to the market and she had fainted in the middle of the road...a frantic kiran had rushed her to the hospital with some help, only to discover that her daughter was pregnant for more than two months... ...

"Main...bani ko kabhi maaf nahin karoongi... kabhi nahin..." kiran got up angrily...hurrying towards bani's room...storming inside, she glared at an inattentive bani looking out of the window, holding her abdomen... in a fit of mad anger kiran slapped her hard across her face... except flowing tears, there was no other movement from bani, not even a flinch when kiran slapped her again...

"Kaun hain woh..." kiran demanded...

"Kiska paap hain yeh...bani mujhe aur gussa mat dila..." kiran said gripping her shoulder firmly...yet there was no answer from her daughter who sat like a marble statue...

"Bani..." kiran seethed with anger...

"Kiranji...please..." the doctor came in, trying to control kiran...

"Bani ki halat theek nahin hain..." the doctor said...

"Kya matlab hain aapka..." kiran said shocked...

"Cahliye mere saath..." the doctor escorted kiran to her cabin...

"Kya baath hain shobhaji..."

"Bani ki halt bohot kharaab hain..."

"Woh mar bhi jaaye mujhe koi farak nahin padta..."kiran said turning her face away...

"Kiranji...jo bhi ho woh aapki beti hain..."

"Nahin...woh meri beti nahin..."

"Aap uska abortion kar dijiye...main kuch nahin jaanti warna...uske paap kahin mu dikhane layak nahin rahenge..." kiran said dreading what will happen when her husband would come to know about this...

"Wahin main keh rahin hoon..."

"She is mentally very weak...pata nahin kuch dil pe leke baithi hain...aur physically abhi uski body main woh takat nahin hain ki abortion handle kar sake...isse uski jaan ko bhi khatra hain aur shayaad for fir kabhi maa na ban paye..."

Kiran let out a painful sob...

"Hey bhagwaan...kaunse janam ka paap hain jo iss tarah aap meri priksha le rahen hain...." she exclaimed burying her face in her palms...

"Kiranji, please sambhaliye apne aap ko...aap tut jaayengi toh bani ko kaun sambhalega..."

"Ab kya hoga...humara naam badnaam hojyega...bani ki kabhi shaadi nahin hogi...aur bani ke papa toh jeete jee mar jaayenge...aur pia ke ghar waale...hey ram..." kiran slammed her head...

"Meri baat suniye...bani ko poori bed rest ki zaroorat hain...iss waqt abortion karna namumkin hain...aap bani ko kahin door le jayiye...wahaan pe uski delivery karvaiye...fir dekhte hain...at least kisiko pata toh nahin chalega..."

"Par...achanak sab chodkar..."

"Dekhiye yehi ek raasta hain..."

Kiran kept sitting there, thinking long and hard...

"Main bani se baat karti hoon, agar usne ladke ke bare main bataya toh shaadi toh ki jaa sakti hain na..." kiran said hopefully...

Jai sipped the bland soup, it was not like home, but still edible nonetheless... he was staying put in his guest house, it was an old guest house, purchased by his parents many years ago, he remembered coming here once during his summer holidays when he was very young... ...the honking of a car disturbed his solemnity...wondering, he was about to go and check when he saw sonali appearing, almost pushing the doors, sprinting toward shim, crushing him in a hug...making him loose his balance...

"Sonali..." he didn't know how to feel, happy or sad...but it felt nice... truly...

"JAIII!!!" sonali screeched in his ears, deafening him...

"Chilla kyun rahin ho..." jai said, extricating himself from her...

"Chillane ki toh baat hain..." sonali said...

"Kya hua..." jai asked looking at her, she was happy, actually happy and smiling...he mused what miracle did happen to have brought back his sonali...

"I...we..."

"Hmm..."

"I am pregnant..." she screamed...jai stood blank, almost motionless for sometime...till the gravity of the truth sank in...sonali was pregnant, they were going to become parents...a slow smile appeared on his face... ...

"Huh!!!" he made a sound...

"Huh...all I get is this...I was so elated when the report came...OH!! Jai I can't tell you how happy I am...finally god has heard my prayers...I just couldn't help and I came here..." sonali said holding jai...a film of tears formed in his eyes, seeing sonali behave so normally... ...noticing jai not reacting in an way sonali nudged him...

"What!!!"

"No...nothing...it feels so good seeing you speak like this again...I thought I would never find you again..." jai said with a wave of melancholy...

"Oh jai...I love you and with our child coming everything will be happy again..." sonali smiled her same effervescent smile...this time he hugged her tightly, fearing it to be a dream and would break as soon as he would open his eyes...but it wasn't... he smiled genuinely after ages... ...

Kiran adjusted the shawl; slipping from bani's shoulder...she was as usual staring out the window of the train without any movement, she had become like a moving doll, the ones children played with, but at least that doll sang when kept on, but bani...she had lost her voice somewhere...they were leaving for Mt. Abu... Kiran and nishikant tried their best to make bani speak up, talk to her, with anger, with force, with care with love, but in vain...bani hadn't spoken a word, not even a single word... without any choice left they decided they would come to Mt. Abu where they had an small, old palatal house belonging to Nishikant's forefathers which was out of occupancy...

Kiran glanced at her husband, he seemed to have grown older in just a few days...he didn't express but she knew the man was shattered from inside, not only by bani's misgiving deed but also by the absolute unstable condition of his favorite daughter... he had taken a voluntary retirement still having a few years left to work... ... kiran sighed...Why was happiness so short-lived????

"Careful sonali..." jai said as he saw her come down the stairs in haste...she was in her advanced stage of pregnancy with a bulging belly... his work had made it difficult to return to Mumbai and he didn't want to leave sonali alone during this time, he had almost decided to abandon his project but sonali was adamant to stay back, she had fallen in love with this place... and as advised by doctors she needed a calm and serene environment, masi had come down to be with her...

"Yes daddy..." sonali said, grinning... jai shook his head...

"Acha, I need to go to the site...just take care...I will be back soon..." jai said reaching her pecking her cheek...

"Yup!!!" she smiled vibrantly...

"Masi, sonali ki dawai de djiyega...and she has to drink the milk...kuch bhi hojaye..." jai said picking up his coat...

"Haan...jai..." masi said...

Jai reached the site within half an hour, the work was almost done, in a month it would ready to open...in a month, their child would also come, to see this wonderful world... ...he was about to walk inside when his eye fell on the back of a not so tall girl, perched on the high-raised stone, with a dull navy blue color shawl wrapped around herself...the short hair reaching up to her shoulders, flying in the blowing wind...yes, he was seeing the same sight for almost a few months now, she sat there on the same place, sitting just like that, doing what, he still couldn't understand...the girl was enigmatic and many a times he had this irresistible urge to just go and see her, look at her face, wanting to catch a glimpse of her and knowing what she did sitting there...but he had stopped himself seeing how irrational it was to just intrude somebody's privacy... that too a female and complete stranger... he walked inside pushing away those listless thoughts... ...

1 Month Later...
Vintage Hospital (it's a hospital in goa, I saw it in pati, patni aur woh, now don't laugh...I couldn't get another name)

Jai paced the hallway of the hospital, clasping his hands, beads of perspiration forming on the sides of his forehead and on his upper brow; sonali was in deep pain when he drove her till here, wheeling her in...

"Masi...!!!" he said looking petrified...

"Bhagwaan pe bharosa rakh beta...sab theek hoga..." she assured him, turning the beads of her rosary... mouthing a prayer...

On the other end of the operating theater, Kiran and nishikant sat motionless on the hospital bench...Kiran squeezed nishikant's hand, bani had gone into labor...the doctors had said that it would be a difficult delivery owing to her frail health...and might have to perform a caesarian operation instead of a normal delivery... nishkant couldn't bring himself to say any words that would sooth his wife...he just sat there holding her... ...

After about many hours... ...

God's plays were unique, if he gave happiness to some he gave sadness to others...but man had no option but to accept the decision made for him... ...

Jai yelped in extreme joy as the doctor announced that a baby girl was born, though sonali had be operated since her condition was a lit weak but she would cope up with proper rest and care...

"Thank you doctor...can I see her..." jai said, feeling elated... ...

"Yes, please..." the doctor smiled at him...leaving... Jai and masi went inside to see sonali smiling weakly... ...the nurse brought the child... handing it to sonali who held her carefully...

"She is so pretty...just like you..." jai said gazing at their daughter...

"Kissike jaise dikhti hain...she is so different..." sonali gushed...

"Abhi kaise pata chalega...badi hogi toh ho jaane do..." masi said, tears pricking her eyes...

Other the other hand... kiran and nishikant stood mortified, with tears dried, not even having the strength to speak, it was a miracle that they were yet surviving...bani lay unconscious after a phrenetic fit of agony...her daughter...her daughter had breathed her last breath...she was smiling looking at her daughter still struggling to open her eyes...when suddenly she felt no movement from her, her squirming eyelids had stopped mid-way, not opening, just about to open...and she wasn't crying either... almost half-dead she had shouted for the nurse and the nurse to check what was wrong with the child, but it was too late... ...the child was dead... ...

There were no handbooks for facing tragedy... there were no schools for learning to live with loss...But Alas!!!Yet one had to live it......
