Hey guys,

Monsoon is here…and I love it!!! And certainly it inspires me!!! How could I not write a story with rain…Here is the Monsoon treat for you guys…This time around not only rains but also a song has inspired me…it's from Kaminey, thode bheege, GOD!!! It's an AWESOME song!!!! I just fell in love with it; you just have to listen to it!!! So the title… …

It's not a new story; I have always been fascinated by the dynamics between jai and bani during the initial stages of KS, that Jai and Bani were wonderful, but they never did have a proper scene where they are just themselves…I always felt they needed just one scene where they would talk, look at each other, just be with each other…but indeed that never happened but what are we for… a famous quote by Thomas Berger says "Why do writers write? Because it isn't there"

I hope it's as beautiful as it sounds… …Comments as usual are most welcome… …

ENJOY!!
XXXX

Thode Bheege… …

Thode bheege… …
{Movie: Kaminey Singer: Mohit chauhan
Lyrics: Gulzar Music: Vishal Bharadwaj}

Thode bheege bheege se Thode Nam hai
Hum… Kal Se Soye Woye bhi to Kam hai hum…
Thode bheege bheege se Thode Nam hai…
Hum… Kal Se Soye Woye bhi to Kam hai hum…

Dil Ne Kaisi Harkat ki hai
Pehli baar Mohabbat ki Hai
Aakhiri baar…Mohabbat ki Hai
Pehli baar.... Mohabbat Ki Hai...
Aakhiri Baar...Mohabbat ki Hai…

Like an invasion of ghosts, unnamed apprehensions rushed into his mind; he pushed himself into a corner and sat shivering, falling gradually into a thought… he buried his head in his lap and squeezed his temples with his knees…veins stood on his forehead… …years after years monsoon never failed to come and he never succeeded to notice its arrival or departure… …it was just monsoon…just drops of rain… …But today, years later he felt like drowning in those cold rain drops, years later he felt like losing his identity and become one among those pearls of rain… years later… …

Jai Walia lifted his head heavenwards, something prompted him from inside…he closed his eyes… enjoying the feel of the rain wet his skin…he smiled as the rain drops trickled down the slope of his jaw…years later there was someone whom made him realize what he had missed all these solitary years…if only he had met her before…if only he had met her in a different way…if only he had not behaved with her like the way he did…if only he had understood her before…if only… …

Against the concrete wall, sprawled on the floor, he was away from his house…away from the place which she had transformed into a home...away from the only one person who would be waiting for him till now…away from the only one person who soothed him… …But he had no intention of going home today, he wanted to drain himself in the downpour, the very first rainfall…he wanted to let himself go…he wanted to relieve himself from the shackles of the past…he wanted to die…he wanted to be born again… …because tomorrow he had many things to say… …
XXXX
She sat by the widow, her eyes engaged in a constant search…the soft breeze touched her face with a sprinkle of rain drops…she squinted her eyes…she loved the rain…she let the wetness remain not trying to wipe it off… it brought a waft of that wonderful smell that came from the dry earth when the first rains touched the dry ground...

It was a rainy day which had changed her life forever when she had for the first time entered the imposing gates of this house…her life had changed completely since then…who had thought that her whole world would revolve around the noble man who gave her and her sisters shelter when they had been rendered as orphans… …Who had thought that fate would take such a steep turn that two people, good enough to be called strangers would be bound in a relation which not only lasted for a life but the coming seven lives as well… … And today…a moment without the man caused her to be panic-stricken… …

The monsoon rain pours
on the scorching, burning earth
quenching its love thirst… …

Where was he…??? Was he was stuck somewhere? What if something happened to him? She asked herself time and again saying a monotonous prayer…only waiting for a faint glimpse of him, a mere shadow of his would put all her apprehensions and worries to rest… …

Bani Walia knew the unwillingness of her marriage, neither was he nor was she ready to accept what destiny had thrown at them, she was too distressed about her sisters and their future while he was a raging bull seething with fire for the insult that her sister had hurled at him, rightfully wanting a revenge… … She became his punching bag and he never let go of any opportunity to scale her down…

It would be erroneous to say that her married life was quiet…Quiet was peace. Tranquility. Quiet was turning down the volume knob of life...rather it was Silent… … Silence was pushing the off button…shutting it down All of it… …But then she never had imagined that a flower would blossom in the midst of an empty endless desert…but it had, the day they started to understand the other...when she couldn't remember but the greater point was that… they had… …

She had encountered that hidden man inside him…the man who was lonely… the man who overcame all hardships for his loved ones yet didn't once complain…the man who worked day and night so that his family was safe and secure even though that gave him severe headaches…the man who never rested because if he stopped then everything would come to a standstill…the man who had seen life through its ups and downs…the man who had everything yet nothing… the man who was yearning for that true love…the man who was her husband yet he wasn't… …
XXXX
Jai trembled in the increasing coldness of the weather…still he didn't twitch…he was amazed at her, his wife, and how she had opened up his locked heart… …how effortlessly he had learned to read her silence…Her silence wasn't the self-imposed silence of those with convictions, of protestors who seek to speak their cause by not speaking at all. It was the silence of one who has taken cover in a dark place, curled up all the edges and tucked under.
She didn't so much live with him to occupy space. And precious little of it… …

But that tiny little space was enough for the enormous things she did for him…for the first time in his life he had found someone who had taken care of him, his clothes, his files, his food, his health, for the first he felt wanted by someone…for the first time he felt the need to thank someone for her concern…for the first he felt the need to apologize to someone when he lost his temper over her…for the first time he felt like living… …for the first time… …

It was only her smile, nothing more that made him forget everything…It didn't make everything all right. It didn't make anything all right. Only a simple smile, which assured him that come what may she would be there for him…always… …

A smile…
A shy smile…
Hardly there…
But there…

A tiny thing. A leaf in the woods, shaking in the wake of a startled bird's flight… but he would take it with open arms…He wanted to etch that smile on her face forever… till he was there with her… …yes, he knew what he wanted… …he knew…at last … …

She must be worried for him…a sudden thought crossed his mind… …he dished out his mobile, the pouring rain wetted it, he quickly dialed the number, patiently waiting for it to be picked up… …
XXXX
Bani alarmed by the constant buzzing on the phone almost ran across the room picking up the phone, catching her breath, heaving heavily… …

"Hello…"she heard his baritone…she closed her eyes in relief…silently thanking god to have kept him safe…

"Hello…" came her meek reply… …she could hear the crashing rain behind him…

"Bani…I…will not be able to come…please…don't worry for me…" he said…bani's face fell…

"Hmm…are you fine??" she asked after a pause…

"Yes…"

"Come soon…" she said hopefully…

"I will bani…I will… …" the line went dead…though upset over his not coming… but soon her face lit up with the fact the he felt it was important to inform her… …

She lay on the bed but sleep eluded her, she turned to face his side of the bed…it was empty…all she did night long was to stare into the darkness and listen to the pitter-patter of the raindrops… …
XXXX
The morning sunrise put a halt to the never ceasing rain… …Bani disinterestedly went about doing her regular routine job… …She had over-slept and couldn't wake up early, but she had woken up just about half an hour late…till then he had arrived and left… …all she could find was his discarded wet clothes lying in a soaking puddle on the bathroom floor… …she cut the vegetable with such speed that it scared the butler that his madam would chop her finger in the process… …

"What…do fast…I have to send the lunch to the office… …" bani snapped at the butler, for the first time ever…the second next she regretted her behavior and apologized sincerely…which earned her a grateful smile… …
XXXX
Aankhein Doobi ddobi Si surmai Madham…
Jheelin Paani Paani hai bas… Tum aur Hum...
Baat badi Hairat ki hai…
Pehli baar Mohabbat ki Hai…
Aakhiri baar…Mohabbat ki Hai
Pehli baar.... Mohabbat Ki Hai…
Aakhiri Baar...Mohabbat ki Hai…

Steering thought the swarm of traffic and the unstoppable rain shower Jai drove his way to his house… the house was eerily quiet, the sound of the rain echoing in its corners…upon being informed by his servant that everybody had gone somewhere or the other, he decided to go towards his room hoping against hope to find his wife. Jai's heart-beat quickened and his dire anticipation rose as he mounted each step… …
XXXX
"It was over…" she thought bitterly… …Yes, just a few days more and the pretence of their marriage would be over, finished forever…she certainly didn't mean anything to him…and he wasn't to be blamed… She possessed nothing extraordinary; neither she had the looks, nor the class, nor the status to even stand beside him…Why a man of such great authority and magnanimity would choose her…a normal girl from a middle-class background…she was nowhere suitable to him…

Probably this was the end…she wanted to be the rain drop which fell into the ocean and disappeared; losing its individualism…she wanted to lose herself in him alike… but unfortunately she was the rain drop which never reached the ocean and got lost in between… … The creaking of the door disturbed her muted soliloquy… …
XXXX
Jai crossed his legs…Uncrossed them. He sat with his sweaty hands on his knees. Did that make him look nervous? He clasped them together, deciding that was worse and just crossed his arms on his chest. Thoughts flew around his head, but he didn't want to think at all…

Bani gazed at her husband's funny behavior; he had expressed his will to talk to her and then for the past fifteen minutes he was squatting on his own bed... …

"Bani…I…" jai gulped down, fearing her reaction… …

Suddenly he sneezed…bani rushed to his side, placing the back of his hand on his forehead…

"You got wet yesterday…Oh God…have you got fever…" she got up frantically trying to get a thermometer…

"Where have I kept it…" she muttered to herself almost banging the drawers with a force which shocked him… …

"Bani…I am fine…" he got up and held her wrist…

"But…" bani again placed the back of her palm, now on his throat, to check if the temperature had deviated from the normal…suddenly she looked up into jai's still eyes, realizing what she was doing, she quickly retreated her hand back, standing with a bent head… …

"I want to say something…" jai finally said…bani stood still…

"What do you want bani…?" it was something very important for him to know what she wanted… …bani lifted her head to view him, what did he mean???

"For what???" she asked confusion written on her face… …

"For us??" he said…taking bani by surprise…bani fiddled with the end of her sari pallu dumbfounded by his direct question… …she moved past him…near the window… the dusk was falling, the rain wasn't going to stop anytime now… …She looked out…the white night fog engulfing the rain… flowers dancing, then twisting and then fading away in the verdant mist... bringing subtle scents of jasmine… the silly rain drops playing tricks on the window pane…her fingers traced their rippling folds, the image shattered into a million folds, she looked up at the blurry sky…to find a sparkling flash of a myriad star…she opened the glass to let the monsoon sea wind damp her eyes with the fine silk rain from the cloudy peaks up above the skies... …

It was time to tell him…whatever his answer was but at least she would have the satisfaction that she confessed her true feelings to him at least once… …this was her last chance…it was her true love which gave her strength…she turned around facing him… …

"I want to be your wife…I want to live with you, to share every moment with you, to laugh with you, to fight with you, to cry with my head in your lap, I want to love you till eternity, I want one…no two children, they have to be just like you…I want to look into to your eyes just like this, I want to grow old with you and one day I want to die in your arms… …Jai Walia…I love you…I don't how…but I do… truly… madly…deeply…" she turned around not able to see the forthcoming rejection in his eyes… …

Jai stood rooted to his spot… …he was almost moved by her true, touching words, his heart fluttered like a bird swinging its wings, flying for the first time… …he was clueless about what to do, he wanted to cry and laugh… but at the end he could do neither of it… …he slowly went near her, standing behind her… her heart raced a she felt his breath over her…the swashing rain drops wetting them equally… …

"Look at me bani…" he said in a cracked voice…bani hugged herself; trying not to cry… but a sob escaped her throat…

"Banii…" he called again… …

"I know I am not worth you, I am not pretty like Roshni or Pia but…" before she could go on rambling jai's answer took her breath away… …

"I feel the same for you bani…much more… …" he confessed hoarsely… …

"Exactly the way you said…but…" he paused…bani turned around…to stare at him…her stormy eyes fixed on him… …

"But…" her eyes grew big with curiosity…

"But I want a girl, just like you… …" jai said with a shy grin…bani bowed her head; she couldn't help but chuckle at her boldness… …she ran her tongue over her dry lips, feeling ticklish and nervous all of a sudden… …not able to stand the proximity between them she walked away, titling her head, resting it on the wooden frame of the window-pane… …
XXXX
Pehli baar Mohabbat ki Hai…
ohoooo oo hooooooooooo
Pehli baar Mohabbat ki Hai…
ohoooo oo hooooooooooo… …

He stood behind her, feeling the beauty of the rain…he took her hand in his, lifting it up softly, he placed feverish kisses on her knuckles…"I love you bani…I love you…" he whispered into her ear and tweaked her ear-lobe…she gasped as she felt him on her…she could hear the coarse intake of his breath as he nuzzled his nose against her open back…her body was betraying her, responding to every single touch, invoking the feelings which she had hidden inside her somewhere…it was compelling… completely…she turned around and hugged him tightly to show how much she needed him… and after that all she could remember was her husband carrying her to the bed with utmost gentility…her love thirsty lips joined and parted like the slow flapping wings of a butterfly as he devoured her every part with such intensity that she shuddered under him… …

Hours later, when the rain was still pouring down without a break, bani opened her eyes…to witness her husband sleeping blissfully, with his hands wrapped around her securely…she smiled to herself as she saw his face, his ruffled hair falling over his forehead, she examined him carefully…for the first she noticed that her husband slept with his lips slightly ajar, she giggled before pushing his jaw, closing his mouth… …

"Ummm…" came a slight moan from jai…as he flapped open his eyes… only to drown in the pool of love in his wife's gorgeous eyes… …he gave her a lazy smile lifting his hand to cup the side of her face…he bent his forehead to touch hers… …

"You are beautiful bani…the most beautiful woman I have ever met or will ever meet…" he whispered making her blush… …and they talked the entire night about the future they saw together… …while it rained away… …

There was nothing else…nothing less…nothing more…nothing at all…beyond this very point… …
XXXX
The End… …

God bless

Hi
IT was like reliving those magic moments of KS. It was truly romantic and a great read. So do you have more stories to pen in regard to the monsoon. I guess monsoon sets in a romantic mood for everyone.
