Hey everyone,
Here is another update, and I hope you enjoy. Before you start reading, I just want to assure all of you that Adi and Mathilli are going to remain together throughout this whole fanfic. This fanfic is more about how their matures into a strong relationship that Om and Parvati shared. In addition, soon there will be another new couple. So don't worry about Adi and Mathilli splitting up. Also, I want to let you know that in this fanfic, Ankit's grandmother is not evil. I am not going to focus on their story much, it will centered around Chotu a little bit more. I still do not know who is going to play as Chotu, and a new character will be introduced. So please feel free to make any suggestions on who you think Chotu should be.
Lastly, I wanted to know how I could post the page number on which the recent update has been posted, so it is easier for you guys to find it. Technical capabilities are limited, if you haven't noticed.
Part 26
For the next few days, everyone at Agarwal house was busy with wedding preparations. Adi and Mathilli made sure that every ceremony was performed as part of the Agarwal family's tradition. While Adi and Mathilli were preparing for the wedding, the rest of the Agarwal family was planning a little surprise for the cute couple.
Finally, the wedding day had arrived. Adi and his friends had gone to Ankit's house the day before since Ankit's only family was his grandmother. Ankit was impatient to see his bride as soon as he arrived at Agarwal house. However, Adi was internally more impatient than him. Because of the wedding preparations, he didn't get a chance to spend any time with Mathilli. He had secretly promised himself that he would spend a whole day with her after the wedding was over.
After Parvati finished doing the aarti, it was time to bring Pragati. Adi was hoping that he would get to see Mathilli, but to his disappointment she was inside taking care of the guests. For a few minutes, some of Ankit's friends teased Pragati by picking him up every time she tried to put the garland around him. Eventually, Bharat and Ronit picked her up so she could put the flower garland around her groom.
Pragati was taken back to her room and Ankit was directed towards the mandap. Throughout this whole time Adi's eyes were searching for Mathilli, but she was nowhere to be found. He couldn't even go look for her because he had to stay with Ankit since he was like the best man.
The pandit finished the initial rituals and asked for the bride. Luckily for Adi, it was Mathilli who brought Pragati this time. As always she was as pretty as the bride for Adi.
(Mathilli's dress)
Mathilli sat right behind Pragati and a few inches away from Adi. As soon as she was next time, Adi grabbed her hand tightly. Fortunately, no one noticed him flirting with her since everyone was focused on the bride and groom.
M: Adi, what are you doing? Let go of my hand.
A: No! Do you have any idea, how long I have been looking for you?
M: Well I was busy with the guests.
A: Well, I have decided that I am going to take a whole day off from work and spend it with you. And don't even bother trying to change my mind—it won't work.
M: I wasn't planning to!
It took Adi a while to process what Mathilli had said. She had completely taken him by surprise. He was expecting her to force him to go to work, but she gave the opposite response.
M: We really haven't had much time together with all these wedding preparations, and I kind of miss the little moments we would have for each other.
Adi was glad to hear that Mathilli missed him. He just gave her a huge smile and tightened his grip on her hand. By now Mathilli had given up trying to release her hand.
The ceremony went smoothly. This time Parvati did Pragati's kanyadan. It was now time to bid Pragati goodbye. Every member had tears in their eyes. Even Adi's eyes were watery. Although he wasn't related to Pragati by blood, they had formed a true brother sister bond in the past few weeks.
After the car drove off, everyone proceeded to get ready for the reception. In the meantime, Pragati was warmly greeted by Ankit's grandmother, who gave Ankit and Pragati a surprise gift. She gave the couple keys to an office under their name. Apparently, Ankit's grandmother invested her savings in this office, where Ankit and Pragati can have their own law firm as soon as they finished their studies. As soon as all the rituals were completed, Pragati informed Parvati about the office. Upon hearing this, Parvati was thankful that her granddaughter was with the man she loved and will be able to pursue her own dreams. Now she was focused on two things (1) find her grandson and (2) give Adi his share of the happiness through the surprise that family had planned.
Part 27
The reception was held at a lavish hotel. Adi had reached there beforehand to make sure that everything was ready. A few moments later, the couple arrived on the stage and started greeting all the guests. All the guests began to mingle with each other. Adi and Bharat were catching up with some business clients when Mayuri pulled Adi to the corner.
M: Have you seen Mathilli?
A: No, I was so busy with the guests.
M: What is this Adi? How could you neglect my bahu?
A: I'm sure she is here somewhere.
However, Adi noticed that Mayuri's attention was somewhere. She was looking at something right behind him. Adi turned around to see a staircase from which the guests were entering. On the top step was Mathilli in a beautiful sari.
She gracefully walked down the stairs. Every step she took, Adi's heart would skip a beat. This was the first time Adi had seen Mathilli in a sari, and she looked stunning. In fact her sari matched with his black tux. By the time Adi came back to his senses, Mathilli was standing right next to his mother.
Mayuri: Mathilli you look gorgeous in this sari.
Mathilli: Actually, Parvati nani bought this for me.
Mayuri: Well I was looking for you. Actually, badi ma wanted to make an announcement. I'll go tell her that you are here.
As soon as Mayuri left, Mathilli faced Adi who hadn't said a word. He was just staring at her.
A: Obviously you!
M: Why, do I look alright?
A: You look stunning. You look really great in a sari, you should wear it more often.
At that moment, Parvati asked for everyone's attention.
Parvati: Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming here and taking part in my granddaughter's happiness. Ankit and Pragati have been through many obstacles to reach here. There love is definitely a lesson for all those who believe in love. However, besides this wonderful couple there is another pair of lovers whose love is praiseworthy. There was a time when these two individuals hated each other, but now they love each other dearly. There love has made them so strong that it gives a whole family hope and courage. And today I would like to bind these two in a pure and permanent relationship. I would like to announce my grandson Vikram Aditya's engagement to Mathilli.
Both Adi and Mathilli were shocked to hear this. While the guests were clapping for them the two stood there in amazement. Eventually, Mayuri brought them on stage where Bharat and Ronit were carrying a tray, each with a ring on it. Adi approached Parvati.
A: Nani, what's all this?
P: This is the family's surprise to you and Mathilli.
A: Nani, we were going to wait until we find chotu.
P: I understand Adi, but I don't want my one grandson giving up his happiness for the sake of another. I respect your wishes. The pandit said that one month later there is an auspicious day for your marriage, and that is ample time to find chotu. Right now, I want you two to get engaged, for me please.
A: Okay, nani.
Adi and Mathilli exchanged rings and took all the elders' blessings. Afterwards, the newlyweds and newly engaged were asked to come onto the dance floor. The DJ played the "Heartbeat" tune from Kal Ho Na Ho for the two couples.
Adi tightly held Mathilli by her waist and she wrapped her arms around his neck. Both were lost in each other's eyes: they did not seemed to be bothered by the guests who were admiring the two couples. For a few minutes, Adi and Mathilli just lived the moment and celebrated their love. Adi noticed that Mathilli was thinking about something and was curious to know what it was.
A: What are you thinking about?
M: Just thinking about how perfect this day went. First, my best friend got married. Second, I am now engaged to the man I love. And, I got another surprise today before I came here.
A: And what's that?
M: I got a call from my cousin—Pari. She's finishing her studies in London and coming back to India.
A: You never told me about her.
M: Actually, she wanted me to wait until she came here and met you personally. But I couldn't wait. Pari is my mother's sister's daughter. Her parents passed away a few years before mine did, and my parents took her in. She's always looked after me and helped take care of our little family. I am so glad that she will be living with us again.
A: Wow…now, I have to meet her.
M: She's more anxious to meet you.
A: Well, I'm glad that she'll be here for our wedding…Parvati nani has made me the happiest man today. I'll always be grateful to her.
Adi then kissed Mathilli's forhead, and the two quietly continued to dance.
From the corner of the room, Parvati was staring at the couple. Kamal and his mother noticed that she was in deep thought.
Kamal: What are you thinking about Bhabhi?
Parvati: I'm just looking at Adi and Mathilli. They make such a great couple. Today, I feel as if a big burden is off my shoulders. I feel secure about my family today. Now I am assured that if something should happen, and Adi and Mathilli will take care of the family.
Kamal: The same way you and Om bhaiya did?
It seemed as if Kamal had said what Parvati had seen from the beginning.
Kamal: You see a reflection of you and Om bhaiya in Adi and Mathilli, don't you?
Parvati: Yeah, I do. There love is strong, and such love is necessary to pull a whole family through any storm.
