Somehow I was not surprised today's episode ... And I actually did not mind it.

Yesterday, no one needed a take 5, and today no one is going to be cheered up by a take 5.

So, my take today is, five reasons you shouldn't feel like banging your head or give up watching the show ...

Jalal and Jodha are still intact to a certain extent ...

(1) I actually liked four things with Jalal today:
- He understands the gravity of what Ruqaiyya did ... It is not like he is dismissing it as not a mistake (as he did with Shivani) ... That was clear from his outburst to Jodha. And he included Jodha and her seva in the list of grievances , so he does understand.
- By hiding this matter, he did save the Mughal Sultanate's izzat ... At least for now
- He understood that somewhere he was at fault for Ruqaiyya's insecurity that she was no longer important to him ... Which I think is partially true, he never directly addressed it and was now asking her to directly come to him if she had any issues. I always appreciate
- When he was rubbing (I wouldn't call it caressing) Ruqaiyya's head there was something very threatening and uncomfortable about it ... As if this was her last chance, and then disaster will strike.

I still feel he may have a painful, slow-poison type punishment in mind for Ruqaiyya so shaayad picture abhi baakhi hain ... And as Jodha said when she forgave Bakshi Bano, forgiving is the biggest punishment and guilt can be a true teacher.

Now, the only question is will Ruqs learn or commit the third strike!

(2) Jodha is being extremely consistent with character ... Why are folks suddenly upset with her?

This is Jodha- who was able to forgive Bakshi Bano and Shariffudhin, when she didn't do anything directly to hurt them. And here, Jodha feels she came in between Jalal and Ruqaiyya, why would she not ask Jalal to forgive her now?

And if Begum-e-Khaas falls in the eyes of everyone, it is an insult to the entire Mughal Sultanate.

If anything, some folks were upset that Jodha did not apply those same rules of forgiveness to Jalal (or at least as quickly) ... But her asking him to forgive Ruqaiyya is completely in line with character.

But the biggest issue is that it feels unfair that Ruqaiyya is forgiven for the following three reasons ..here is how I calmed down

(3) Why does Ruqaiyya's mistakes always forgiven by Jalal?

Up to the Ben track, Jalal never punished Ruqaiyya for her insults of and plots against Jodha ... Because he typically made the same mistakes as her or was part of the plot. He just was better at apologizing and learning from them. But, that being said, how could he punish Ruqaiyya for what he did as well?

After the Ben track, the first crime Ruqaiyya did against Jodha was the Murthi Khaand. That to Jalal was her first strike ... He let go citing that it was her first mistake.

Then, there was Ruqs trusting Maham Anga and helping her execute the Sujamal plan. Again, Ruqs fault was trusting Maham Anga that Jodha was wrong. But Jalal made the same mistake. How can Jalal punish her?

Now, this is the second major strike ... Here Jalal was given a kasam by Jodha to forgive her.

But for sure, either the third strike won't happen, or nothing will stop Jalal in the third strike ... How I hope it is the former.

(4) Why does only Jodha get the public insults?

Yes, Jodha has been publicly insulted but the circumstances were different and the issue was already in the DEK, .e.g., Sujamal fiasco.

And, even when it came to Jodha, Jalal did not insult her publicly during the fake pregnancy track which was a similarly sensitive topic. He thought she had committed infidelity and he did not breathe a word to anyone about it. Once Maham Anga leaked it to the public, he took the fault on himself and even faced the public on it.

(5) Won't Maham Anga bring this up as double standards and insult Jalal in DEK for this?

First, I am not entirely convinced on how Maham Anga will unravel and prove Ruqaiyya's fake pregnancy in the DEK ... I don't trust the Zee operators as they could have changed the track.

But, even if Maham Anga does, how can she cite this as the only example of unfair standards? As Ruqaiyya was not the first person Jalal has forgiven for insulting the Mughal Sultanate. It would also be unfair to how he forgave Bakshi Bano, Sharifudhin, Shivani, and even Adham Khan.

As the biggest victim is Jalal, he has the right to choose the punishment.

Maham Anga's crime with the Sujamal crime I still think was worse on a few dimensions:
- She failed in her administrative / official role of wazir-e-aliya by letting Sujamal in and causing the death of many Mughal soldiers
- She led to the public insult of a begum- Jodha
- Her intent was not only to separate Jodha and Jalal but destroy Jodha's reputation

And of course we know her track record is much worse than that of Ruqaiyya!

Look, writing this made me feel better ... But it likely didn't make anyone feel better. In which case there are four sources of hope for the future:
- Jalal may have another type of punishment in store for her
- Ruqaiyya may actually learn her lesson and be reformed and dignified moving forward ... Which is likely more in line with history
- Ruqaiyya may still be publicly insulted by MA's unraveling in DEK according to the Zee Operator
- Ruqaiyya will make a third strike and then she will be officially out (to use baseball lingo)

In any case, feel free to use this thread to vent your thoughts on the episode. Today is that kind of day. I wonder what Friday the 13th has in store for us.

I'd liked the episode from the word go...and was fearing to look into IF, and damn I was so right, but then I saw your post and sighed in relief 😊 THe only positivity amidst negative posts.

RT was fabulous, as always, he was quite but one can feel the turbulence and heat, undercurrent of fury and pain, he was cold, he was dignified, yet broken...he should such range of emotions...👏

Lavina also today potrayed Ruqaiya's shock and disbelief very well.

RuqLal will now never be same again, however much Jalal tries. He'll more be formal...what kind of friend and friendship, if one is not going to share his negative traits alongwith his positivities...one who feels that his friend is not worth sharing his pain or understand his angst...😕😭
Jodha looked more of a wife than Mahaan today. 😛😲

I loved their last scene together, even the last side consoling hug sitting on bed...there was innate ownership, belonging of home in that. 😳

PS: There's hell lot of difference between Rukku and MA, both with respect of intent and personalities...also there was difference of reaction after both got caught...where MA did not have a pinch of remorse...Rukku knew all along she was wrong and hurt her friend and she did asked sorry, even before Jalal reacted.

Let me read and comment!

Unres
Thanx for managing to atleast cheer me up with ur positive take, kudos to u girl 👏

Glad it helped!

I was dissapointed becoz Ruqu again got out scotch free of the whole thing, but i did notice that she herself said to Jallu that she thot he will kill her and yet he forgave her...i think this way there is a hope that she will change her attitude becoz if he had punished her or humiliated her she wud have surely gotten more miffed with Jodha!

Yes, guilt and silence is sometimes the biggest punishment when you expect to be punished; I really hope Ruq's changes

I was so surprised at how Jallu was behaving after everyone left the room and saying lets play shatranj...i know he was trying to assure her that he is still her friend and has forgiven her for such a big crime...i was surprised with the fact that he managed to behave the way h did and yet he threatened her too that she shud not repeat her mistake in future!

He realized he had to show his care in actions ... Though I did not if there was something teda in asking to play chess and the. Saying forget it ... I am not sure if he is going to play a personal game to teach her a lesson.

I noticed and was happy about the fact that he counted Jo's seva in the list too!!

Even in his pain, he remembered Jo's pain

All this will bring Jallu more closer to Jo and she will be always his that begum whom he trusts blindly and expects right advice from!!

Exactly!

Going forward i just hope Ruqu changes for good and JaJo stay close always!!

Or else, she will make another mistake and she will be out!

@bold even I understand that. She did it only for him. She understands him like no other. She knew he will be completely devastated and his punishment to Ruqu will cause him more pain than Ruqu herself.
Still, as a viewer I feel cheated. I just cannot take this. Itna intezaar kiya yeh din dekhne ke liye nahi!! Hope kabhi naa kabhi humein isska jawab miley.

Yes, loved Raksha's views ... But if Ruq's changes for the better or is fully punished later, would you still feel bad?

Maham does not repent and keeps making mistakes. Ruks apologizes but keeps making mistakes. So to me no difference. As u said Jalal not punishing Ruks itself is a punishment for her. I too agree with this.

I am being selfish here Divya. I actually do not want RUks to change. Lets see.

I have a feeling Ruks will not change, but lets see how things are going to go

Superb mind blowing fantastic superlative.

Thanks so much! This means a lot when I thought nobody would read my take

This is exactly what I wanted to convey too. I thot of starting my On my own thread today, but, it's not necessary now.

But, I do accept that I would have loved the angry Jalal outburst today. May be it's reserved for another day, another episode.

I actually liked his controlled anger ... When he closes his eyes when everyone is consoling Ruqs ... That shows his anger in a different way in range ... Raksha also described his acting very well

Jodha is totally a different person ... She chooses not to avenge insults by doing the same type of insults, especially to another woman... Coz, for her women samman and self respect are above life and trivialities of harem politics. When anyone chooses to battle with her, she does so, we saw how she took on half the soldiers that surrounded her and Jalal the other day.

Exactly! Also, intent and circumstances are very important to her

If Jodha is going to behave the same like Ruqaiyya, then what's the difference in their characters. We all would have heard this umpteen times from our parents and elders, even in today's world. Isn't it ?

Well said! And it is also consistent with character

As far Jalal, why not we say that he was taking control of his anger and outbursts that he normally has had. He is human and with good influence of Jodha he is refining himself. He knows, what happened to him, his guilt ridden phase searching for Jodha leaving his Empire. It should not happen again to any of his wives. How shall he forgive himself, if a childless Ruqaiyya tries to commit suicide or anything crap.

Beautifully said 👏... If he has learned his lesson and changed due to Jodha ... Should those changes apply only to Jodha? Great point.

Like you said Divyam, this Ruqs thingy is not yet over is my opinion too. The actual pardha faash shall happen when Maham opens it publicly. This is probably the initial cracks in Jalal - Ruq relationship. There may be more to come when things take a worser turn.

Isn't there a slight chance Ruqs may be reformed but her punishment will be the Ruq-lal relationship will never be the same?

Thanks for a lovely, totally different take keeping the current mood of the forum.

Your welcome- glad you liked it

Divya, today's episode had mixed reactions. I liked Jalal hiding the fake pregnancy with the family to save Ruq's respect. Jodha was right when she said, she will have no respect in harem. I had no issues with that act at all. Jalal's emotions which had hate, guilt, anger and hurt when he was with Ruq was evident and there was certain warning when he told Ruq to come to him if any concerns she had. But, why did he not react to Ruq in privacy? Yes Ruq is scared of his temper, but I really doubt that
But when he came to Jodha's hojra and thanked her for helping him not loose his childhood friend? So, her fake pregnancy which she plotted to keep Jodha and Jalal away or according to them, she wanted Jalal's time was ok to be forgiven because she was his friend? So, how was MA's plot bigger than Ruq's? Even she did it out of jealousy and infact she did not play with lot of people's emotions and expectations, it was Jalal's emotions and Jodha's respect she plotted. Yes, there was legal issue involved, but for that he didn't have to break all ties with her. He could have given her punishment for allowing a man. In that issue even Ruq knew that there was a man and she confessed to Jalal. Even that was about harem law.
It was Jodha who played the pedestal role here and I have no expectations from Jodha. But, ofcourse Jalal will face more shame when MA brings this truth out in open when MA gets caught for her act. And I m not saying this because of spoiler, but if MA did not have to bring this truth out in open, then they wouldn't have shown MA killing bandhi and Ruq self praising about her brainy act of getting another maid tested for pregnancy. That reaction is going to be worse than this one.

I don't know what explanation he will give to MA for forgiving Ruqs if MA brings it out open in public. But MA did not do it because she loves Jalal or out of jealousy, because she thought Jodha is not mughal and she was changing Jalal, his views about hindus, his ruling and she feared that the power she once had she will loose it. It had nothing to do with her LOVE for Jalal. Maham is shrewd and evil. Ruqs is selfish, jealous and mean but she is not evil. The mere fact that Ruqs had no plan B about how to carry her fake pregnancy story says that she was Impulsive
