Thanks everyone...all this encouragement means a lot to a first time writer. I read it again and realized that it needs serious editing... Thanks for ignoring all the spell/ grammar mistakes/ incomplete sentences and just focussing on the content. I will try to repost an edited version in a day or two.
I'd love to write again... I absolutely love history and read voraciously. Till a few years ago i used to read from sources that appeared to be more fact based and authentic...Till I found this book on queen Nefertiti... A very beautifully written book which was a good mix of reality and fiction... I think this show belongs to the same catagory... Certainly very entertaining... I read about the real Rajput queen from various sources... This woman was probably not as lucky as our beloved Jodha from the show. After that I felt the need to write something. The Om Puri disclaimer is nice but if all of this is fiction, then why use the names of real people. I am talking about all characters including Rukiyya, Hamida and even Jalal. The name jodha akbar did contribute in making the show popular at least initially. 'Raja-rani ki kahani' probably wouldnt have attracted so many viewers. So if their names are being used, then the characters need to be presented in a responsible fashion. The women in those days had limited rights and probably did not commit any of the ' crimes' they are accused of by some viewers after watching the show. They are not here to defend themselves. I wanted to write about the real queen first and later highlight the differences... But then I realized... What bothers me more is not how CV's have changed the characters but the responses of real women to that portrayal. Some of the comments can be described as nothing but cruel. So I decided to write about our Jodha from the show... I am so not looking forward to reading comments about Jodha when she doesnt respond romantically to Jalal right after the pregnancy track is over in some otherwise very well written posts. For those looking for their daily dose of romance, please spare these 16th century women... Find a Hollywood chick flick at the nearest blockbuster.

Excellent writing. Completely agree with your words.
It's too easy to preach a lady on how she should behave when you don't have to face her ordeals, her fear, her insecurities.. But alas that is human nature. Stone throwing is common fun, as long as you don't have to think of how it'd feel if one is thrown at u.
I watch this serial for Jodha. She's the only real character in d show IMO.
