these are forgotten gems of Pancham, he gave quite a few materpieces in 80s but because these movies got consigned to oblivion so the music.
But tell me which genre whould you put them into..?

Thanks Indradhanush for bringing these forgotten gems. Pancham da had a very good knowledge of both Indian classical/ western music. He sometimes used several ragas in one song. I am not a raga expert, so would like feedback from very knowledgable music lovers in this forum. I will put it in semi classical music category. What do you think?

yw! Here is what Lata ji has to say about this song. She has not mentioned about any raga though.May be somebody in this forum may enlighten about the raga part.

Suniyoji Araj Mhari (Lekin, 1990; Hridaynath Mangeshkar) - "Yara sili sili mein to chalne wali baat thi. But my favourite in Lekin was Suniyo ji. Dimple emoted so beautifully to the song! Gulzar saab who wrote the lyrics always says my brother Hridayanath is a perfectionist, 'Woh aapko nahin chodte hain.' I know for sure he'd never humour me by okaying an unsatisfactory take. He keeps recording until he gets what he wants. His argument is, 'We can leave it as it is. But tomorrow people are going to fault your rendition. I don't want that.' A lot of rival composers have harmed his career. I feel bad for him. He never wanted me to recommend him to filmmakers. It's a pity Lekin didn't run. I like the film. And I love the songs. Even the background music is tremendous."

Well, we should not forget that professional playback singers record their songs in bits and pieces in a recording studio with some really high tech gadgets now a days. Barring the greats like Rafi saab, Kishore da, Sonu, Lata ji and Asha tai etc, I feel these contestants can easily match the current crop of Kunal, Shaan, Shreya etc.

Agreed they still have to go a long way to go but the singers like Hemu, Nihi, Harshit, Abhijeet & Rahul are very good and will do full justice to the song in a recording studio....my two cents here 😳

thnx a lot guys ... music ke bare mein bohot hi interesting information padhne ko mil raha hai yahan ... keep up the mazedar discussion about music ...

now gettin back to the topic i do agree with Gauri_3 on what she said in the top box 👏👏 but i've added Rahul from my side ... all the very best to all of them 😃😃

It seems that this was a show called Yeh Shaam Mastani on Sony TV.
