This one for some reason in close to heart..😛,

Fair enough. And to answer your question, I think only Toshi and Rahul would be up to giving that one a shot.

And this one also is Bhairavi though by swara personified Lata ji..bhor bhaye panghat pe.. (Satyam Shivam Sundram).

Performed by a Chhote Ustaad!

Trivia: did you know that Bhairavi is on the Voyager Golden Record of Voyager 1, by now in interstellar space? ("Jata kahan ho" by Kesarbai Kerkar.check it out)

Why don't they pick these songs I am sure good rendition of this will fetch votes (🤢)

Perhaps because raga based songs have gone somewhat out of style in Bollywood? (Though I think it would have been a wonderful "theme" for an episode -- all songs based on the same raga.)

Yes specially there are raagas like Bhairavi and Des which have been used in many compositions, there would be ample choice. What is your opinion on Shekhar once being a classical singer yet praising ghatiya gayaki..?

Jaitn-Lalit were the last mughals using raagas in their songs, they split and the vaccum was usurped by Himesh, VS and Pritam, none of them have this capability. I think era of melody started vanishing in 90 s and in 21 st century barring few compositions by Jatin-Lalit we bid goodbye to semiclassical music in Hindi Cinema.

BTW can you please tell me which raaga has been used to compose yaara tujhsa nahi koi duniya me pyara (Ram teri ganga maili)...??

Darbari is for classical total experts only! (e.g. this tarana by a legend. Youtube seems to have plenty of Darbari, too.) I can't see any contestant even thinking of trying it.

He's moving with the times, I think (which, with Dylan, "they are a-changin'..."). Fusion is in. And ghatiya is in.

Yes,. but as has already been remarked, live vs studio can make a difference even for established singers. Here and there the contestants may have a few studio recordings, while conversely, live performances are rarer for the other group. We should avoid apples and oranges comparisons.

For example, the difference in quality is appreciable here: between a studio and a live performance of the same song by the same established singer. Given these two versions, is this effort in a reality show all that bad?

If anything...i think Mussarat Abbas and Amanat Ali are better then Rahul...Harshit... and perhaps abhijeet...

Agreed, those two are just as good.
