'Finding another Dayaben feels impossible,' Says TMKOC Producer Asit Kumarr Modi

As Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah celebrates its remarkable 17-year journey on Indian television, the absence of one of its most cherished characters—Dayaben, portrayed by Disha Vakani—remains a heartfelt topic of conversation. While fans fondly remember her iconic dialogues and infectious laughter, her absence continues to be deeply felt, especially during such milestone celebrations.

On July 28, the show's cast and crew gathered to commemorate 17 successful years, joined by their families and members of the media. While the mood was festive, the lingering question on everyone’s mind was about the return of Dayaben. At the center of this curiosity stood producer Asit Kumarr Modi, who addressed the topic with honesty and emotion.

Speaking at the celebration, Modi expressed just how irreplaceable Disha Vakani’s portrayal of Dayaben is. He said, 'The level at which Daya performed makes it extremely hard to find someone like her. In fact, I feel it’s almost impossible. If it’s in God’s will, then maybe someone suitable will come along, and I’ll surely bring Dayaben back'.

While fans continue to hope for her return, Modi acknowledged that Disha's current personal commitments make it challenging for her to resume the role. He shared, 'She is busy with her personal life and cannot come back right now. But of course, we all wish to have her back. In the meantime, actors like Dilip Joshi (Jethalal) have stood by the show and me, helping to carry it forward.'

Reflecting on tough times like the COVID-19 pandemic, he shared, “Every time there was a hurdle, someone from the team stepped forward. When our director’s family faced health issues, the team came together. This show has survived and thrived only because of our collective efforts.”

While the search for a new Dayaben continues, the legacy left by Disha Vakani remains powerful. Her portrayal has become more than a performance—it’s an emotion etched in the hearts of millions, reminding viewers of the magic she brought to the screen.
