Okay, this is basically a rant post, and probably my last one, cos I can't watch this show anymore (so please if you don't agree with me/like what I've written, then ignore this post. Peace! )
Since, the merger, I've felt that makers are slowly choking the essence of Gauri, but since Thursday's episode they have definitely progressed to butchering Gauri's character, and today was like an irreparable damage to it. I don't think Gauri's character is ever going to survive this blow. CVs!! 😡
Okay, lets start from DBO. In the first episode itself, Gauri is shown talking to Anika on the phone and telling her that love should be like Meera, without any expectation. The same is reiterated and emphasized again and again throughout DBO, that Gauri doesn't want to impose herself on Om. She only comes back to save his life, that's it!
So, why since the Thursday episode, is she shown desperate to be part of Om's life? 😕
Okay, maybe because Shivaay advised her to, I dunno. First of all, I love ShivRi ❤️, but Shivaay should really not advise on this relationship. Gauri was right when she said that it's about SELF-RESPECT, but Shivaay judged Rikara by his own relationship with Anika, and thought it's about Ego. There is no ego in Rikara's equation. Shivaay's advice was wrong (Sorry about that, though he's a really good elder brother).
What I don't get is why Gauri agreed to it? She herself said Sirf Bahu', then why this sudden urge to go the infernal exhibition?
Now coming to this whole English nonsense. I think CVs have nothing left to show for Rikara, hence they're making an issue out of a non-issue. Logically Anika being the wife of the famous businessman, SSO, should have had to deal with media. But she never came face to face with one media person. On the other hand, Om, the reclusive artist, who hasn't been painting for months, is suddenly having a barrage of media persons at his second comeback exhibition. Really??
Coming back to Gauri, in DBO, she is shown to be a self-reliant person, who has always used her brains to get out of any mess. Lets see:
1. She fooled Kali Thakur and the rest of his goons twice. Hit him with an axe and stabbed him (to death?) to escape from them ALL ALONE.
2. She always relied on the internet to solve her problems and she's shown in every episode to be a technophile. In her own words, "Hum toh Internet Chaachi ke bina chappal bhi nahi dhoondh sakte." So, clearly this is a girl who is well aware how to use technology to her benefit.
3. She could fake a pregnancy test using the internet, so clearly she's not dumb (and also thanks to her, all of us watching DBO, went on the net to figure out how to do the same. DBO made us all science geeks!)
4. Lets not even start on how she has fooled the Oberois time and again. I expected the family to be a little upset that she manipulated them during the fake pregnancy track, but chalo she saved Om's life so everything is forgotten (don't get me wrong, I love Gauri for using her brains and making pappu out of everyone, Cunning Gauri is my favorite!)
Now suddenly, post-merger Gauri is shown as a country bumpkin? What nonsense is this?
Has she broken up with her Internet chaachi? Why does she not refer to the Internet to solve her problems anymore?
The only time, post-merger, I felt old Gauri was back, was when she left the Oberoi Mansion, and went to Pune. Instead of crying buckets like all other heroines, Gauri was eating chana and looking for a job. That's the real Gauri, who never gives up and moves on with life.👍🏼
I have a theory, Svetlana has kidnapped the real Gauri and put her in a freezer, replacing the real Gauri, with this needy, insecure version since last Thursday. 🤔
Don't get me wrong, I'm not against Gauri being educated. But not now, and definitely not because she wants to fit into someone's life. That's high-level butchering of any female character. Gauri should be educated for herself, and not because she craves acceptance from someone.
There are some people who have a problem with Gauri's Hindi as well. When I went to the US for a semester, I obviously spoke English with an Indian accent. Americans did not judge me or laugh at me for that; they liked me as I am. So, people who think Gauri's lack of English makes her less worthy, should just take a hike!
And what has Jahnvi achieved by being educated? She allowed Tej to ruin her and become an alcoholic. Gauri being less educated, defeated Kali, Svet and Buamaa all by herself. And she also showed the guts to leave Om when he said that she has no place in his life.
So, what has happened to her??? Why is she not leaving now?? Why are CV's changing this character trait of Gauri?? WHY ARE CV'S DUMBING DOWN GAURI, when she is legit the smartest person in the family after Shivaay??
If CVs wanted an educated and polished FL for Om, then Riddhima was good enough. Why did they create a fabulous new character in Gauri, only to ruin her later?
I can take anything. I got over the 2 min MU clearance, but this is too much. I'll take Gauri being heroic in DBO any day over this shit. I'm totally against a girl changing herself to suit the boy. Give me Gauri dealing with Svet's scientific horrors. Give me Gauri running away with Svet, committing A-level crimes like a badass. I'll take all of this against this stupid education track, which does nothing for Rikara.
I remember how I stopped watching Qubool Hai, because it was nonsense, even though I love Surbhi Jyoti. Similarly, even though I love Shrenu, I can't tolerate this character butchering. Hence, I have no option but to quit watching this show.
Thank you CVs for killing the only character I have liked so much since Zoya Farooqui, so that I can finally quit this trash called IB, which I've been watching since last one and a half year!
