Even I don't understand why she does not shoulder the blame for this separation .. Both are equally responsible! I have been having a similar discussion with asya on her thread.. trying to make this point that please let's not just blame Shivaay 😆

And yes, I agree to the power of TIFFANY whose FAULT is it really - THE WRITING for sure 😆

Thanks again! 😊

Glad you liked it. Most of the time I just troll the writing, but some things really annoy me about this track one namely was the Shivaay vs Anika going on 😆 Both screwed up and failed together lol. The writers ruined all the characters for this painfully forced separation so I thought I'd make a post.

No problem.

I enjoyed reading your posts.

You mentioned some things that I didn't even notice. It really is majority rules with them when Roop was kicked out no one came to her defense that's why she was ousted. Similarly, no one came to Anika's defense because Omru&Jhanvi were helping her with her plan, Tej and Shakti didn't care, Pinky started all this to get rid of her, and Daadi was conflicted.
Keeping my expectations low, but I'm sure there is more to these new looks. If the writers use this separation to explore their characters I'll be happy.

@ TM what a great post. Probably best one I read in awhile.

@ Ruz: Annika didn't sacrifice for family, she sacrificed for Shivaay. She did it all, so Shivaay won't find out he's illegitimate. As for Shivaay, it would be a "sacrifice" if he thought Annika was right, but still let her go. But it's the opposite. He chose to keep his family intact and ask the person who he thinks is trying to break them apart to leave.

In fact, both Jhanvi and Om made a sacrifice too. Jhanvi let her son be thought of as illegitimate and Om let himself be thought of as the same so Shivaay won't find out the truth of his birth. Shivaay chose his family over Annika, because in his mind Annika made this about Them Vs His family. She made his family the bad guys, and even willing to use something like a family secret to facilitate this. Annika knew very well that THIS was the best way to earn Shivaay's hatred. Attack his family. Attack his brothers, and it worked. She knew it would work and that's why she did it.

@TM: Your right. Like you said, Shivaay makes decisions because the majority gives their nod to it. He doesn't decide against the wishes of the whole family. Also, he may be running the majority of the business now, but he does not have the authority to kick out his family members. His wife, however, is there because she is married to him. If he thinks she is trying to break his family apart, he can make the decision if he wants to continue with his marriage or not. Neither are right at this point, but they both did what they thought was best. Annika was Dead wrong to choose to give in to Pinky's blackmail. She should have called that Bi**h's bluff and asked her to tell her son everything. She should not have given into her. It's sad that even Om and Rudra where forced to promise not to tell Shivaay. The fact is, the truth needs to be known and digested by Shivaay at some point. I would rather Annika had gone the way of OmRu and Jhanvi and "chosen to stay and support" Shivaay in his difficulty, not hide it from him and sacrifice her relationship to save his NKK image in his own eyes. Again NKK won, even though this time Shivaay didnt chose it, Annika did. Sad fact that ShiVika's relationship became the victim of NKK, but ironically because of Annika not Shivaay.

Love this post Rani.
Great analysis and hope that Shivika will now start living for themselves. Family is important too but it is time to put themselves first and their feelings first before anything else.

As for Shivaay turning into a playboy...we will have to wait and see. IT will be a drastic change for SSO to become like that.

True as you pointed out that he always decided when it came to himself and the majority agreed with him when he decided on their behalf.

Hey. Can I come in with my two cents here, even though I don't even know what fault it is that we are discussing? 😆
Here is what I thought this show was about: being a parody for all shows like it in Hindi TV land. And I really think that they were doing a great job of it when I was watching it. The plot was the same old plot, but the characters were ALL more thoughtful and self-aware than all their counterparts in other serials. Shivaay was not just the typical masochist. Anika was not the typical brain-unhinged chattering bright thing. Om was not the typical brooding artist -- he had a drug problem. Rudra beautifully tread the line between being baby and stepping into diffuse any tension that arose between his older brothers. Both Pinky and Jhanvi had this curious dynamic of being enemies at one level (claim on the family business) and friends (against anyone trying to disrupt their family). The senior brothers Oberoi had this curious tight tolerance for each other, despite having some distaste for each other's lifestyles.

Daadi was the only boring typical character.

I think that the disruption in the original story line came because of the Om-Rudra actors falling sick and being away for a long time. That's when the writers realised that whatever trite / discordant storylines they brought in, it would all work because of Shivaay and Anika. Since then, the story of the family became more the story of these two. I think there was still a chance that things would be fine, but then they got this stupid idea of breaking up the story into two shows.

SO my answer to your question? All this -- the crazy place that we are in the story just now? -- was the fault of the mosquito that made the Om and Rudra actors fall ill. 🤣

On a less lighter note: I think we were headed here a long time ago -- this blow up caused by Pinky between Shivaay and Anika.
She had tried it once before, remember? When Shivaay had done the drastic action of taking a bullet for Anika, PInky had realised the danger that Anika posed to Shivaay. But Shivaay got around that problem. I think some of the best lines written for that situation in one of these saas-bahu shows was in that episode when he staggers out, weak and beautiful, to get her back. That was my epitome of a perfect parody with GREAT INTELLIGENCE. The little brother gets reprimanded for bringing the patient out, but he doesn't take any crap when he smartly answers Anika back about how Shivaay would have come out anyway. Anika plays the typical bahu card about never wanting to separate mother and son, break up old relationships, and Shivaay has these supremely brilliant lines about whether she cares more for his mother or for him. I so loved the writing of that segment. That is the one place where I am STILL curious to see what SHivaay said that brought Anika back.

(Maybe we will get to see that now. Maybe it will become important either when Shivaay goes to get ANika back under cover of the dark of the night, or after a few days, when he realises that he can't live without her. Oh I do hope we get to see what he said to her that day! 😆 )

And maybe they will turn around what looks like a typical moment in a saas-bahu TV show like they have done before: that actually it is a Shivaay-'Nika plan, an elaborate one to tackle a paranoid mother figure.

And I happen to think that there is great parodical scope in the new characters as well (for Shivaay-'Nika). My favourite hypothesis is that they are actually Anika's long-lost family. That it was a family resemblance that attracts Shivaay to this new girl. And then the conflict where he loses his passionate dependence of bloodlines-and-familyname will come because he will be filled with loathing for how they treated her in her childhood, and at the same time, trying to figure out how to retain his pride and ego and his 'Nika despite all the loud drama the news channels has recorded his having done. Of course, this _is_ Shivaay Singh Oberoi. He will totally ignore the old drama and just create new one to replace it.

But I do hope they are able to find again that wonderful layer of intelligence in the characters once again. And that they can weave together the story of the brothers as brothers once again, rather than a crazy set of stories running amok.

While I never really got a handle on Om's story, I have great hopes for Rudra's story. That this new girl (who is coming across as so perfectly schizophrenic that she will be a perfect addition to this loony family) is going to be a lesson where Rudra realises that love is precious and that is what he had with Saumya. That this relationship will play out sweetly with both of them realising that this is friendship and not love, and deciding to part as friends, so that Saumya can return and take her place as Rudra's companion for life. It will play nicely into the saas-bahu need for drama once in a while, with some misunderstanding and some jealousy and some long-drawn out resolution of the same.

I would also love to see some serious flashbacks aon the Tej-Pinky fight for the dominance over the family wealth. And some serious kickback for Jhanvi and Om against Tej Oberoi. And finally, I'd love for Shivaay to hand over the family business to Rudra, who I really think , along with Saumya, will make for the nicest, most sensible person to manage and grow the Oberoi family business. Everyone else is a drama queen, and need to be handling smaller things, that the press will never find interesting to cover! 😆

Ya, still living on hope with this show. Ain't it remarkable? Do you think that if I actually watch all the episodes between Jhanvi getting fried and now, I won't be so hopeful? 😆

PS: none of what I wrote had anything to do with your post, did it? 😆 I guess I felt I just had to come back and say _something_. Sorry if it turned out to be nothing at all.

Wow! You really have shown few facets which I was not aware and believe me I have been watching IB pretty closely.
You have a point, so far Shivaay has not done anything for himself. His thinking is always abt family and Anika has joined the band wagon. Hopefully they start thinking abt themselves and what they want in life.

Interesting times ahead!
