On a less lighter note: I think we were headed here a long time ago -- this blow up caused by Pinky between Shivaay and Anika.
She had tried it once before, remember? When Shivaay had done the drastic action of taking a bullet for Anika, PInky had realised the danger that Anika posed to Shivaay. But Shivaay got around that problem. I think some of the best lines written for that situation in one of these saas-bahu shows was in that episode when he staggers out, weak and beautiful, to get her back. That was my epitome of a perfect parody with GREAT INTELLIGENCE. The little brother gets reprimanded for bringing the patient out, but he doesn't take any crap when he smartly answers Anika back about how Shivaay would have come out anyway. Anika plays the typical bahu card about never wanting to separate mother and son, break up old relationships, and Shivaay has these supremely brilliant lines about whether she cares more for his mother or for him. I so loved the writing of that segment. That is the one place where I am STILL curious to see what SHivaay said that brought Anika back.
(Maybe we will get to see that now. Maybe it will become important either when Shivaay goes to get ANika back under cover of the dark of the night, or after a few days, when he realises that he can't live without her. Oh I do hope we get to see what he said to her that day! 😆 )
And maybe they will turn around what looks like a typical moment in a saas-bahu TV show like they have done before: that actually it is a Shivaay-'Nika plan, an elaborate one to tackle a paranoid mother figure.
And I happen to think that there is great parodical scope in the new characters as well (for Shivaay-'Nika). My favourite hypothesis is that they are actually Anika's long-lost family. That it was a family resemblance that attracts Shivaay to this new girl. And then the conflict where he loses his passionate dependence of bloodlines-and-familyname will come because he will be filled with loathing for how they treated her in her childhood, and at the same time, trying to figure out how to retain his pride and ego and his 'Nika despite all the loud drama the news channels has recorded his having done. Of course, this _is_ Shivaay Singh Oberoi. He will totally ignore the old drama and just create new one to replace it.
But I do hope they are able to find again that wonderful layer of intelligence in the characters once again. And that they can weave together the story of the brothers as brothers once again, rather than a crazy set of stories running amok.
While I never really got a handle on Om's story, I have great hopes for Rudra's story. That this new girl (who is coming across as so perfectly schizophrenic that she will be a perfect addition to this loony family) is going to be a lesson where Rudra realises that love is precious and that is what he had with Saumya. That this relationship will play out sweetly with both of them realising that this is friendship and not love, and deciding to part as friends, so that Saumya can return and take her place as Rudra's companion for life. It will play nicely into the saas-bahu need for drama once in a while, with some misunderstanding and some jealousy and some long-drawn out resolution of the same.
I would also love to see some serious flashbacks aon the Tej-Pinky fight for the dominance over the family wealth. And some serious kickback for Jhanvi and Om against Tej Oberoi. And finally, I'd love for Shivaay to hand over the family business to Rudra, who I really think , along with Saumya, will make for the nicest, most sensible person to manage and grow the Oberoi family business. Everyone else is a drama queen, and need to be handling smaller things, that the press will never find interesting to cover! 😆
Ya, still living on hope with this show. Ain't it remarkable? Do you think that if I actually watch all the episodes between Jhanvi getting fried and now, I won't be so hopeful? 😆
