The writers and Pinky 😆
A lot of interesting posts about Anika's perspective so I thought I'd share my own two cents.
Why did he end his marriage?
- If he didn't there would be no separation, 3 months later, or new looks 😆
- Because it was HIS to end like it was HERS to walk away from. He forced her into, but they chose to keep going together. Why and who she walked away for doesn't change the fact that she walked away from own marriage.
- If she sacrificed everything for her family (him) then with the divorce he sacrificed everything for his family too.
- It wasn't because he didn't love her enough or she was being rude to his family, but because she wanted to divide his family and even used Om's illegitimacy to ensure the division. She made it about them vs his family. They all take advantage of you. I won't let them use you anymore. We'll live separately. Let's divide the property. I'm his wife he'll do as I say. Cut to Daadi's emotional promise about keeping the family together. She hit the sweet spot to make sure he behaved the way he did. She expressed her grievances, but she never said she didn't want to be with him. Her whole drama revolved around protecting him from his own family at any cost making the family he values above all as the villains.
Shivaay is depicted as the patriarch of the family but people forget his power lies with the consent of the family. When it's about his family he might make all the important decisions, but it's always backed by the family or at least a majority. The individual involved always agrees willingly (Prinku meeting Dev, Om agreeing to meet the family of the girl Tej tried to set him up with or Saumya coming back to OM). If you watch every "patriarch" scene there is a chorus of "Shivaay is right " or "I agree with Shivaay" then it's done. Most of time it's Tej or Pinky objecting, but his decisions are accepted by the majority so majority rules. He suggests a match for Prinku majority agrees. Om wants to move his girlfriend in he says, "what's the big deal as long as Om is happy" and then the majority agrees. Obviously, they give him this power out of love and respect but also because his intentions are sincere all the time. He isn't trying to use or manipulate for his own gains. If he gave Anika the same treatment we wouldn't be in this mess right now 😆 He makes allowances for her she can do or say whatever she wants when its just about him but never about his family.
He only makes declarations without discussing it with others when it's just about him (the forced wedding, multiple Shitia weddings, not accepting Anika as his wife, and now the divorce). I don't see why people have a problem with his divorce, but not a problem with her separation. She did it for family and he did it for family. The problem is neither character knows how to live for themselves. They always put others ahead of themselves and end up on the losing end always.
So, I'm confused by the "if it was Pinky he wouldn't kick her out" or "the other family members did worse before, but he didn't kick them" out comments.
- Om doing drugs was a cry for help not emotional blackmail to get a reaction out of him. He succumbed to his guilt and used drugs as an out. His actions were selfish, but his intention wasn't to hurt his family or compel them to act in a certain way.
- Rudra is a playboy and childish, but that isn't a crime that calls for him being disowned by his family.
- As for Jhanvi alcoholism, she needs counseling not to be kicked out of the house or punished for having a problem.
- Tej's adultery isn't his burden to bear. Like it's not Om or Rudra's either. Does Tej deserve to be disowned and discarded. Absolutely! The man is poison, but how can he kick Tej out? What power does he have that he can end his 30+ year marriage and his relationship with his mother? Tej is toxic, but only his mother and his wife have the power to get rid of him, but they choose not to. He can only be supportive of their decisions until they say otherwise.
- The level of Pinky's cruelty is still unknown to him. While her past behavior was bad I don't think it warranted him to believe she was capable of more than insulting. No one would think crude remarks would turn into this? She used to do the same to Omru, who took it stride like he how he takes Tej's jealousy and taunts in stride. Honestly, who saw this crazy Pinky coming? I didn't 😆 She was insecure, rude, and nasty but fake mom was her descent into madness. She completely lost her damn mind. Like Om he can choose to end HIS relationship with her, but he can't end her relationship with the others. Like how he ended his relation with Anika, but he showed up for Sahil with his bag all ready and packed. If Pinky needs to get kicked out that decision belongs to Daadi and Shakti. Let's see what actually happens when the truth comes out. We can't expect Shivaay, Daadi, or even Shakti to have a reaction to something they don't even know about yet.
I'm sure children kick their own parents out in real life and in serials whether it's to get rid of toxic relationships for survival or just pure malice. Based on Om's hatred Tej should been thrown out years ago, but in DBO he forced to Tej's hand and kept him tied to his marriage. Why? Because his mother wanted him and its only over when she says it's over. If one day Jhanvi wants to end her toxic marriage do honestly you think he'll have a place there? Daadi's emotional blackmailing won't work on either Shivaay or Om if it means Jhanvi's happiness. He'll support Jhanvi and the others will follow suit. His whole character sketch is built around the fact that their happiness is above everything including his own happiness. Psycho ACP anyone? He caved after a few tears and a hunger strike 😆 Rumya said the marriage didn't matter to them so then it didn't matter to him. Daadi wanted Anika at OM so he brought her. Daadi wanted the rasams even though he wanted to divorce her, but he did it for her. For Anika, he changed and was trying to keep his promises to her even though he failed miserably, but I'll give him credit for what he did do.
In her defense, with Om's illegitimacy his first instinct was to hide it to protect Om and she is doing the same. Is it the best solution? LOL nope because it will come out. It wasn't intentional, but by outing his truth she made him a target. He should have acted when he noticed her behavior change. He should have listened to her because listening her doesn't mean his mother is automatically guilty. All her grievances about the lengths he goes for his family, the marriage, and her treatment afterward were all valid. She spoke no lies, but she used to truth to manipulate him and the situation. She painted them all as opportunistic villains while degrading herself to get his hate. Om's drug use wasn't an manipulative act, but his illegitimacy drama was. Jhanvi let one son be humiliated to save another. I can understand their intention. Would he do the same? Yes and he has on several occasions, but that doesn't change the fact its wrong. Lies with good intentions are still lies.
Basically, my point is he didn't fail THEY failed. Takkar ka pyaar. Even when they fail they do it together 😆
Let's give them a break no one survived this forced separation lol. Obviously, he isn't supposed to realize anything for the separation to happen like she how is supposed to walk away for his security. Too much Shivaay vs Anika going on right now when it's really the writers fault.
After 300 episodes sacrificing for family and obligations I want to see them living for themselves. Omru have their own show and Sahil is going away to camp its time to do whatever they want. Hope its more than blowing up cars and becoming a playboy 😆
