I think now that we have a strong grey female like maya around. it's not correct to say that grey female leads are not accepted by the audience.i think if for a character to be accepted they have to be well written and well acted.if this post is simply about why ishana was not accepted.then the answer is simply I think the actress was not that good and even when she was good and created interest in her character she was not shown in the show. the cvs hoodwinked fans of the promo who thought it was going to be male headed show and turned it in to an anika show. so unfortunately a proper grey character cannot be shown on a one woman show where the cvs only have time to show one woman's domination. only the leading lady and her villains can be shown. grey characters are of no interest to the cvs

@ sandiab:
True that. It was a male centric show now a show about one woman's battle with vamps! Yes the previous grey female lead was badly written so even the actress was unable to do justice to her, and I don't blame her. Commend her for even trying.

The stories of too good to be true women are boring. So I am all for grey FL's and more realistic females. Maya from Beyhaad is a good example and makes clear that if a character is well written and justified, then a good performer can really sell them to the audience! It's clearly achievable!

I agree when I saw the promos thought finally the Indian telly is showing based upon men, now I feel cheated this show has become Annika show.

There are very few proper writers on Indian tv who can write grey characters and you need a very strong actor to pull of those shades.

It's not only abt Ishaana but grey FLs all over d Indian shows. I made dis post wen Saumya was hinted to turn grey n there began some posts n comments on how she can't become grey as she is cute, bubbly, love angel, married blah blah blah. I know Ishaana was butchered like showing unapologetic conwoman one day n then showing her conwoman due to compulsion. So it's not abt Ishaana but any show where grey FLa are bashed. I wrote in my post dat not just grey FL but also DO who only thinks any herself are called disgusting names like SP' s 5:30 slot show.

Jamai Raja is the only male-centric show in India TV😆. Now Ghulam will be added to this small list.

I really like this topic and I think it's a good point ! After so long I actually like a female lead in a show and that is Maya of beyhad ! It's so refreshing to have a leading lady be bad and get what she wants ! I mean so many times I want the villain to get the guy but bcoz the lead is always innocent and pure with NO mistakes she gets to be right every time !! Even in Beyhadh I root for Maya bcoz Saanjh is that typical cry baby pure innocent type who will do good to get the guy and it really annoys me ! Sometimes the bad way is the best way ?

About ishqbaaz .. I agree it's bcum the Anika must be right and win against the villain so I've completely lost interest!! And I can't believe she's falling in love with shivaay after he humiliated and tortured her ! I mean tia is basically a male shivay they would b perfect together! But it can't happen coz she is bad !

I also liked ishana character for omkara but I think she was introduced too early and there were too many other girls and stuff for her character to progress!! I mean dey had her randomly start dancing everywhere!! So it was definitely the PH fault but let's see when OM new girl cum if it will help get me interested again ?

@zara1ksg:

Yes even I am rooting for the bad girl on Sony show coz she is way more interesting than the goody two shoes character. The thing is the bad girl has a personality and so far she has not manhandeled or tortured anyone. The day she does that, I will reserve judgement. Saanjh is a cry baby who has no life, so no wonder people are not sympathising with her.

As for IB, even I find it hard to beleive how the FL moved on so quickly from a variety of insults and now even in love and ready to confess, like 3-4 weeks from the forced wedding? I remember reading comments the first week or two of forced wedding that only 2-3 days had gone by on the show, and Annika will soon bounce back to her old self. But instead she turned into someone else. Given how little time has actually elapsed on the show her metermorphasis into an in love wife from a forced bride is even more surprising.

Even I sometimes find the Vamps more intersting than the FL's and that is coz they usually have a strong personality and are not preechy. They are more "action" people than "talk" people. Tia is not 100% bad and sometimes I even feel sorry for her. I think she is actually justifying her role quite well. She and her family want revenge and that is why she is there. She has a goal to achieve. Good or bad her actions make sense. If you actually pay attention these days, in every episode the line "Your right Annika" is said at least 3-4 times, either by Shivaay, Om or Rudra. So I think it is fair when people say this is a one woman show! Even I am waiting to see the dynamic presented by Om's lead and the possiblity of Soumya being grey and having ulterior motives or an agenda. It will surely make the show more interesting.
