Thank You so much! And my pranams to all your elders.😊

Now I get the objectives of Vanaprasthashram & Sanyas. It is not running away from our duties and society but to overcome this bondage of surroundings and possessions.

My pleasure Cherry. While replying to you, I always like to write your name as I feel like addressing another sister of mine whose name is also Cherry and who lives in USA and frequently watches videos of MB and other serials and reads Geeta out of her own interest.

Yes it is certainly not running away from duties but actually it is when duties are fulfilled and you realize that bondages of the world and your own nature of attachment is trapping you, you try to cut it. And that is necessary. Otherwise what happens is that person thinks now I have fulfilled my duty of marrying my son, now I will devote to God after seeing my Grandson's face. Now I have seen my grandson, now I will wait until I finish my duty of ensuring that his thread ceremony is accomplished well. After fulfillment of the same, I feel that it is my duty to see that my grandson is educated and gets the job the same way I looked after my son. And then comes his marriage. This way sansarik imposed duties never ends and actually that is not love but the attachment. Being self dependent is necessary. To be free from fear is necessary. To gain strength against climate changes and body requirements of hunger thirst is necessary achievement in the attainment process of God whether you do it with family or without. Look at vanprastha as divine as visiting a peaceful temple surrounded by natural beauty at a distant lonely place and living there alone for many days or months and not as going to Vriddhashram. Genuine quest of God is supreme desire felt and can't be defamed or criticized to be running away from family when actually it is the family who traps the bond around the established right of soul of freedom and uniting with infinite.

Thank you so much Bhaiyya!🤗 I'm very happy to find a brother who can spare some time & help me understand these real life concepts.😊

And Bhaiyya as you said these Saansarik duties never end & keep forging as long as we keep interest in them.People forget that god has appointed them to look after his own children(not their children) and they develop a different sense in carrying these responsibilities. They don't limit themselves to their duties but unknowingly develop attachment towards them. And as long as we keep thinking about them they don't leave us.May be coz of this our ancient Rishi,Munis classified life into Ashramas. And they placed Vanaprastha at the end of Grihasthya to ensure that all the Householder duties get fulfilled and one can peacefully retire to a calm place without any troubles in mind and acheive their life goal.Vanaprastha is the best ashrama!👍🏼

My pleasure Cherry.🤗 But I just put it in natural flow of words but what I believe is that you actually already knew it somewhere inside and just enjoyed the framing of the answer and are giving me the credit. You believe it or not but only this knowledge of yours raised the curiosity to confirm and ask this question in front of all here. The answer you wanted from me which was spontaneously liked and grasped by you was exactly right there in you.😊 Someone else might not have grasped the same or agreed with it.

It is indeed a beautiful aashram. I actually love Aranya Kand of Ramayan the most too. But sometimes (due to man's own fault only), its beginning is painful. Person forces the situation in which he is hurt and forced to start this aashram and in that situation (like going to old age houses), it creates an impression like he ran away from duties (or the other members of the family are bad people) but actually it is fundamental right of soul to overcome the sorrow and to go to any appropriate training place for that which has necessary supporting surroundings. Let's consider 4 aashrams to be 4 step by step courses or syllabus or training programs. In the first standard, we are taught and educated intellectually about our duties towards smaller and larger world. In the second standard, we create our own little world (like Brahma), then we nurture it (like Vishnu) and then we have to destroy it (like Shiv) and when we destroy it, it creates an outside image of Pralay (and pralay also is the outcome of anger & dissatisfaction of nature). But this little rehearsal of nurturing the family like Vishnu is for the larger plot in the fourth standard of Sanyas where only the number of family members expands with a giant multiple. But in between that 2nd & 4th standards of smaller and larger family, purifying phase is the third aashram. Aashram for changing the horizon and also preparing oneself physically for the big battle. We see that the smaller battle or Gruhasthi itself is very tough and challenging, then imagine how much mental and physical strength would be required for larger one (which can't be freely gained without disturbance in limited circle). And in the big battle, since the soul is active for every soul, there is no difference between him and others and others & others. So there doesn't come the question of expectations, possessiveness, sorrow, disappointment etc. There comes the broadness. A sense of neutrality is achieved between all jeevas living in the world. Fighting between two sons then becomes like one wild animal eating the other one. Sanyasi physically saves the weaker one and mentally pities the wilder one.

My pleasure Shubsmayur. I am happy that you liked it so much. What's your name that I can use to address you? You can call me Shivang only. Buch is my surname. As long as we don't know each other's age, it's nothing wrong in calling by single name especially when it is the mannerism in west.

Great discussion guyz!!👏I was in a hurry but you pulled me to join with you here.Few lines before I log out.

Aranya Kand from Ramayan is my favorite too and I'm really loving the discussion going on the topic Vanaprastha Ashram.

"Interestingly ShriSitaRam took up Vaanaprastha before fulfilling Grahasthya dharma. No,No,I'm going wrong! Please frame this for me.😕
I think UrmilaLakshman and other pairs lead a Vanaprasthya life no matter whether they are in the Palace or Forest.👏And you know Bhaiyya recently I read that ShriRukminiKrishna also took up Vanaprasthya for 12 years in Himalayas after marriage."

I wish to elaborate this!

The goals for human marriage are Dharma,Ardha,Kama(for progeny only) and Moksha. But most of the married pairs easily acheive Artha and Kama(be it progeny or plessure). There is a popular saying in our ancient texts that a person who can't protect & feed his children is worst than an animal because an animal in a best way cares for its kids right from their birth, feeding them and teaching them its animal tactics, defence against higher animals. Moreover there are no restrictions for animal reproduction. All this happens unknowingly but perfectly that is the beauty of lord god's creation. So if you are not able to acheive even this then you're worst than an animal!
But we are humans who have restraints and high standards in order to achieve higher and higher levels of being or existence i.e god!So we can neither be worst than an animal nor live like it.

Ram and Krishna set up an example for humankind

In the first stage of life viz;one must attain the grace of his guide by surrendering to him. Here you're shown the right path of life. The maturity you develop at the end of this stage makes you eligible both physically and mentally to practise those higher standards. In Brahmacharya stage you'll be practising on support wheels. Now you have to run your bike to reach your goal viz.god.

Why marry and lead ascetic life?

This is indeed a wonderful part!Beutifully fitted with each other for house holders. One should always remember that humans have to maintain high standards in every aspect of life.Especially for Sansaaric life this should clearly be out from both sides...wife & husband! It is impossible to raise your successive generation with these stds. unless the 'pair' acheives this goal.

So should I leave for Vanaprastha after marriage?

Remember that in our previous ages marriages were performed at a very young age unlike this day where people get married in their twenties or thirties. So we need not take up such a long austerity but we shouldn't go for animal instinct.

Well first of all sorry, last time also u have asked, but i didn't noticed that time my name is neha, you can call me that 😊 so i can address you with additional ji with ur name, i hope u don't mind😊.BTW very nice name.

Very nice briefing on all ashrams 👏 Shivang ji, beautifully explained but the fact which we all see these days the diminishing value of "Ashram Vyavastha", its sad but true 😔 if one adopt these life style in his/her life, than definitely life will blossom with joy & happiness without worries because when one start living without "I" (Ego) than nothing can bound us, all the sufferings start because of attachments (my family, my house, my money, my everything), when one start living life as caretaker than only one can find ultimate peace & happiness 😃 than only one comes close to God realization in true sense.
