Aranya Kand from Ramayan is my favorite too and I'm really loving the discussion going on the topic Vanaprastha Ashram.

"Interestingly ShriSitaRam took up Vaanaprastha before fulfilling Grahasthya dharma.No,No,I'm going wrong!Please frame this for me.😕
I think UrmilaLakshman and other pairs lead a Vanaprasthya life no matter whether they are in the Palace or Forest.👏And you know Bhaiyya recently I read that ShriRukminiKrishna also took up Vanaprasthya for 12 years in Himalayas after marriage."

I wish to elaborate this!

The goals for human marriage are Dharma,Ardha,Kama(for progeny only) and Moksha.But most of the married pairs easily acheive Artha and Kama(be it progeny or plessure).There is a popular saying in our ancient texts that a person who can't protect & feed his children is worst than an animal because an animal in a best way cares for its kids right from their birth,feeding them and teaching them its animal tactics,defence against higher animals.Moreover there are no restrictions for animal reproduction.All this happens unknowingly but perfectly that is the beauty of lord god's creation.So if you are not able to acheive even this then you're worst than an animal!
But we are humans who have restraints and high standards in order to achieve higher and higher levels of being or existence i.e god!So we can neither be worst than an animal nor live like it.

Ram and Krishna set up an example for humankind

In the first stage of life viz;one must attain the grace of his guide by surrendering to him.Here you're shown the right path of life.The maturity you develop at the end of this stage makes you eligible both physically and mentally to practise those higher standards.In Brahmacharya stage you'll be practising on support wheels.Now you have to run your bike to reach your goal viz.god.

Why marry and lead ascetic life?

This is indeed a wonderful part!Beutifully fitted with each other for house holders.One should always remember that humans have to maintain high standards in every aspect of life.Especially for Sansaaric life this should clearly be out from both sides...wife & husband!It is impossible to raise your successive generation with these stds. unless the 'pair' acheives this goal.

So should I leave for Vanaprastha after marriage?

Remember that in our previous ages marriages were performed at a very young age unlike this day where people get married in their twenties or thirties.So we need not take up such a long austerity but we shouldn't go for animal instinct.

Beautiful 👏 thanks for sharing sruja ji 😊 i guess you know why 😆 ...

@Srujaji

I had framed this long reply even before reading your post full of knowledge but couldn't post since my connectivity was very very horrible so I am first posting that reply of mine in the post above. Connectivity is even very very poor right now. So I will not be able to participate it seems today until the problem is rectified (perhaps signal problem due to heavy rain).

@Neha

Are you sure I am elder than you to call me Ji? It will be very awkward if I call you Neha and you call me Shivangji and then the respective ages turn otherwise (although that's not the case in majority here) 😆.

We don't leave our family and do penance in forest to reach God. We do it -to reach OUR SELF.
