I liked the episode, but the only aspect I didn't like was Sukhdev getting killed: simply being defeated could have chastened him. After all, while he was a traitor, he was one to a tyrant, who didn't deserve better. If anything, Balbhadra would have deserved death, but there was no way Shani was going to widow Suchitra.
Also, a 15 year old Vishnu would have been too young to rule: if Balbhadra's mind had been cleared of evil thoughts after being so thoroughly punished and going thru all his repentance, he could have been re-instated along w/ Suchitra. Are there any instances either in history or in mythology of princes becoming kings while their father was alive (not counting usurpations like Ajatashatru)?

Thanks for the update!

Agree with you on who should have been killed & whom not, but after all it was Shani's decision, so how can we say anything LOL!😆

Well in every episodes, Shani heals the wounds & disabilities of the ones who get punished, how come this time Balbhadra was left handicapped towards the end😕 I thought Shani would use his powers & Balbhadra would be on his feet. Maybe Shani wanted to do something unexpected & left Balbhadra with his crutch LOL!😆

I really liked that kid who played Vishnu, great performance!!!👍🏼 The confidence showed on screen👏

Saturday, September 24, 2011 | 2:28:59 PM IST (+05:30 GMT) Shobhit Attray, Astha Chaudhary to star in Mahima Shanidev Ki...

Shobhit Attray-Aastha Chaudhary to feature on Imagine TV tonight...

Aastha Chaudhary who was last seen on Colors' Uttaran and Shobhit Attray from Baba Aiso Varr Dhundo will be seen together from tonight on Imagine TV's Mahima Shanidev Ki.

A source informs, "Aastha and Shobhit will portray the characters of Komal and Vishwa respectively. The story revolves around a couple who is madly in love but their life meets negative circumstances which finally gets sorted after worshiping lord Shanidev."

We contacted Shobhit Attray and he said, "Yes, I have been shooting for the show since last 2-3 days and the episode will air tonight. It was a nice experience to come back on Imagine after Baba Aiso Varr…"

We managed to take a word from Aastha Chaudhary while she was busy shopping in Jaipur. "It's true, I will be seen with Shobhit tonight in the show," she said.

This will be the first time that the audience will see this pair on screen and hope they are liked by the viewers...

A quick update of last week's episode that starred Shobhit Attrey and Aastha Chaudhary. The episode was uncharacterestic in that Shani dwells in this episode on the supremacy of love, which even mytho characters have suddenly discovered as being supreme. 😕

The story starts w/ Vishwa, who is on his way to try and sell his earthen pots, while his debtors arrive @ his home. While Vishwa is traveling, there is a stampede, and most of his goods are destroyed 😲 The debtors confront Komal, his wife, on his whereabouts, and refuse to accept even water from her, taunting her for painting the pots w/ their borrowed money. Vishwa returns and tells them all about the accident, and Komal drops the tray of water glasses.

The debtors then decide that they'll help themselves to all of Vishwa's remaining pots, and go ahead and possess all that, over the protests of Vishwa and Komal. They then leave.

Vishwa & Komal then go to an astrologer and ask him about their predicament. Since they don't have any kundalis ready, the jyotish divines their kundalis by just looking @ them. He asks Vishwa to tell Komal, whose face is covered, to reveal it, and immediately starts ogling her. He tells them that Vishwa is born under Rahu and Komal under Mangal, which is why their celestial origins are @ war, and hence cause of their misery. He tells them that the only way out is to end their marriage.

Shani notices this somewhat angrily, and remarks that while the astrologer's remarks are true, its solution is not the dissolution of their marriage, and moreover, by coveting a married woman, the jyotish is just violating the tenets of his profession. Vishwa & Komal reject the advice and leave.

Later when Vishwa is out and Komal is @ home working, the jyotish comes to her and tries to encourage her to leave her husband. However, Vishwa appears right then, and Komal suggests that he ask him. Vishwa tells him that they'll do w/o his solution, and not to bother coming there again. The jyotish vows revenge.

Komal later had a nightmare in which the houses in the village were burnt down, and they were accused of it. They denied it, but the Jyotish claimed that due to their conflicting astrological profiles, all this is happening. The king, for the greater good, orders the marriage dissolved, and Vishwa to rip off Komal's mangal-sutra. Vishwa does it, and @ this point, Komal wakes up w/ a start.

Komal then suggests that if they can't live together, they can at least die together. They try jumping into a fire, but a disguised Shani stops them. He tells them that their problems can be solved if they follow him.

Shani takes them to a place where he tells them to start praying to a shrine of Shiva/Parvati. He then goes to Shiva, and tells him about their plight. Shiva tells him that it's probably written in their fate, and they can't intervene, but Shani tells him about their true love 😕 So Shiva and Parvati decide to appear b4 Vishwa & Komal.

Vishwa & Komal are surprised to see them. Shiva gives him the linga, and Parvati gives her the base. They ask them to set it up in a place and start worshipping it, and their problems will go away. Mahadev however warns them that if the 2 parts of the lingam get separated, disaster would befall the one who causes the separation.

Shani helps Vishwa & Komal set up the linga, and the villagers who visit there observe the shrine. In the middle of it all, the jyotish steals the top of the linga. Vishwa is worried @ that, but Shani assures him that the thief would return w/ the stolen statue.

Indeed, later the Jyotish arrives w/ scars all over him, returns the linga and tells them that he's being destoryed by the linga. Shani tells him that it's not the fire of the linga, but the fire of his own sins that are burning him. He orders him to confess his sins if he wants to be cured. He admits to being lustful of Komal. Shani asks him to leave and do penance for the rest of his life so that his sins ain't carried on to the next. He leaves.

Vishwa & Komal, w/ the help of Shani, set up the shrine and the others do the yagna, while the villagers all join in the pujas. Their problems are over. 👏

Thanks for the update! Missed the first part...

When I was watching it, I felt it's a fictional tale but got confused towards the end... So was this story about the origin of Shiva linga on earth? 😕

I don't think this story was about the origin of the Shiva linga on earth - it was more likely a solution to this couple's woes. Although it may have been, since they were originally worshiping statues of Shiva/Parvati.

Shani narrates the significance of pativrata women - those who are devoted solely to their husbands, and tells the story of Rishi Mareech and his devoted wife Satvati.

Mareech was the son of Brahma, and had a very devoted wife by the name of Satvati, who was always serving him - like massaging his legs, feeding him and getting fed by him, etc. One day, while the rishi was asleep, Brahma appeared and wanted to talk to him, but Satvati told him that he was asleep, and asked Brahma to come another time. Brahma agreed and left.

Later, when the rishi was up, Satvati mentioned to him that Brahma had visited. The rishi was shocked, and angry that Satvati didn't wake him. Satvati tried pointing out to him that her first duty was towards her husband, but Mareech told her that when she was incapable of respecting her husband's parents, how could she be a pativrata wife? He calls her a disgrace to wives everywhere and curses her that she would become a stone statue and be stranded on earth. Satvati falls to his feet and accepts the curse, and instantly turns into a rock. The angry sage kicks her and she falls through the galaxy while Shani watches, furious. The rock passes Parvati, Lakshmi, Saraswati, then goes past Brahma, Vishnu & Shiva. Finally, it lands on earth next to a river.

Lakshmi, Parvati & Saraswati approach Shani and ask him whether it was wrong to be devoted to one's husband, and if so, to punish them as well. Or else, punish Mareech. Shani promises them that after he's done w/ Mareech, the latter will realize the importance of a wife's role, as well as how to respect women.

Mareech is trying to start an yagna fire, but this time, his ability to mentally set the wood alight fails him. He is surprised, and Shani appears. He tells Mareech that he had committed a grave injustice to his wife, who's a pativrata wife. Mareech tells him that she was a disgrace for what she allowed to happen. Shani tells Mareech that he'll face the consequences for what he just did.

Shani then invotes his doot, which is another Daya-Shankar Pandey, and then instructs him to remove his soul from him and take it to earth. The Doot does just that, and Mareech collapses on his unlit kund. The doot takes his soul to earth, and on a field, a chandala (a person who cremates the dead) has just died. Shani tells the doot to put Mareech's soul into the just deceased body of the chandala, so that he can experience hell on earth 😈 The doot does accordingly.

The men are wondering who would cremate the chandala, since he normally did that for everybody. Just then, the chandala's wife arrives, and she's livid that he's died w/o her consent 🤣 She kicks him and he wakes up in shock. She takes a stick and starts beating him, and he runs. He then cremates the bodies that were lined up after collecting the dues.

Later, @ home, his wife tells him never to do any cremation w/o collecting the dues. Shani then causes him to get hungry, and he asks his wife for something, while she's chomping @ a laddoo. The wife tosses him a dry roti, which he devours very intently 😆 She however tells him that from tomorrow, have whatever food he gets from what he's paid.

Later, the wife is lying on bed and the chandala/Mareech's soul combo is massaging her. While he's doing it, he gets memories of how Satvati used to do that for her, and stares blankly. His wife kicks him off the bed, and this time, he tells her that she's totally unfit to be anybody's wife, and doesn't accept her as one, since his true wife was Satvati 😲🤣 His wife is shocked to hear that he's married to someone else and kicks her out of the house.

Outside, the chandala starts praying to Shani, and Shani tells him that he did what he did in order to make him aware of his sins. Satvati arrives, and Shani assures him that it's still maya. He disappears, and one of the goddesses appear and then all disappear. The chandala then wanders about and finally gets to the place where Satvati's stone was lying, and hugged it. He then apologized to her, and called for Shani, asking him how to make amends? Shani told him to take it to the 4 major pilgrimage sites - Badrinath, Pushkara, Dwaraka (they didn't show the 4th - Kanyakumari?) and then bring it back where he found it.

The chandala picked up the stone and took it to the various sites, worshipping the various deities like Brahma, Krishna, etc along the way. Finally, he got back to the original site and just collapsed and died. Shani told him that he had paid for his sins, but it was now time to revive Satvati. He appealed to Brahma, Vishnu & Shiva to resurrect her, and the 3 of them combined managed to turn the stone back to Satvati.

Satvati got up, and saw the chandala next to her. Her husband's soul left it and fell to her hand, and she disappeared from the spot and appeared @ her home. She saw her husband's body dead @ his yagna kund, and went and restored the soul to it, and he was restored to life.

A very chastised Mareech now apologized to her, and told her that he had learnt a great lesson from Shani, and asked her to join him to thank him. Shani appeared and blessed both of them, and told Satvati that from that day, whoever prays to that stone would be free from domestic troubles. He also advised that people should never make decisions in the heat of the moment when they are angry or tense. On this note, the episode ended.

Comments: a great episode, where the spoilt husband had to do toa far less deserving woman everything his wife did for him. I'm glad it didn't turn out to be a super-mahaan lady preventing him from being punished.

Thanks a lot for the update Vrish!😊 Missed the first part as usual

Personally, I loved the episode! Superb!!!😃 All credit goes to Shani's punishment cycle that was simply worth watching this time😆 Loved it when the Chandal's wife kicked her dead husband saying that how he dared to die without her permission & started beating him all of a sudden🤣 Just couldn't stop laughing at that scene😆 Also when he was pressing her legs & she kicked him saying he doesn't even know how to serve his wife😆

I wonder which goddess was that who acted as the Chandal's wife😕
Good to see Urmila back but she didn't have much to do as she was turned into a stone plus I missed her part

Anyway, this time it was funny to see Shani punishing his guru, in the sense that the actor playing Mareech/Chandal had done the role of Lord Shiva in the initial episodes of MSDK, especially at that time when Suryadev had taken Shani to Shiva so that Shiva would accept Shani as his student. If I'm not wrong then he was also Shiva in ASR, wasn't he? Btw does anybody know his real name?😕 I like this actor but have no idea about his real name, but have seen him doing a lot of Sagar serials😳

Vik

The actor's name is Aditya Pachori - he played Mahadev both in ASR as well as in the initial episodes of Shani. I have no idea why he stopped playing that role - he was so perfect @ it that he should have continued doing it there, as well as done it in DBSK.

So Satvati was Meenakshi Arya - Urmila in ASR and Bhavri in Jyoti? She's making a comeback? If she is in Baroda, she could well join DBSK as one of the Pandava or Kaurava women.

Thanks for the name. I've even seen him playing Lord Vishnu in Om Namah Shivaya. Well if he gets casted in DBSK, I hope it's a prominent role where he can perform more rather than just a cameo. He's a great actor after all. Would love to see even Meenakshi back in full form rather than just a small appearance. I really liked her as Bhavri & Urmila. If she gets casted in DBSK then I hope it's on the Pandav's side coz I hardly remember any woman from the Kaurav's side except for Gandhari.
