Shani starts by describing the astrological circumstances by which aybody was born, and explains the kul nakshatra & kush nakshatra (I didn't exactly get this part, w/ the astrological diagrams Shani referenced). He decided to see what's going on w/ one of his followers, a king Balbhadra, who's about to get his son. The scene goes to a queen Suchitra when she is delivering her baby, and the king Balbhadra is waiting for the news. The baby is born and everybody rejoices. Balbhadra is informed about the birth of a son. The astrologer checks the data and apologizes to him, but tells him that his son, being born in the mul nakshatra, was destined to ruin him. The king seizes a sword and wants to kill the astrologer, but the astrologer explains that the stars under which he was born means that he'd be the cause of the misery, dishonor and then deaths of his parents - all within 27 days 😲. The king later broods over this and sends for him again. He asks the jyotishacharya the options out of this, and is told that there is only one way out: to kill the baby. 😲 Either he kills this baby, or gets destroyed 😲
Balbhadra decides that he can't let the empire he's built w/ so much bloodshed go waste, so orders that he be killed. Shani, who is observing all this, says that the duty of parents is to raise their kid, and the reason his son was born in the mul nakshatra was due to his own sins. He was a tyrant and killed innocent subjects, persecuted peasants and so on. Back on earth, Suchitra is horrified and begs the king not to kill him. Balbhadra asks her whether she wants him to die instead, and she tells him that the reason he's probably in this situation was due to his past sins. The king slaps her hard, and orders that the baby be seized and taken and executed. His guard takes the queen's maid who has the baby, and the king follows her.
The queen goes to Shani Dev and asks him what her sin was that she's being put in such a predicament? She begs for her son to be returned to her. In heaven, Shani tells Suchitra that his justice renders justice to the innocent & punishes the guilty. Near the execution site, the queen's maid tries to save the baby and the minister Sukhdev strikes herdown. He then draws his sword and is about to behead the baby, when a minister suggests that he instead of incurring the sin on his own, throw the baby into the river & let it die on its own. The minister does just that and throws the baby into the river and then leaves w/ his retinue. The person who advises him turns into Shani and goes into the river and retrieves him. He then hands him to the maid who has recovered, and directs her to his ashram nearby, where he takes over the guru duties of the child later.
At the palace, Balbhadra is relieved that his baby is dead, and Sukhdev tells him that his chariot is ready. The charioteer is Shani. Balbhadra mounts the chariot and sets off, and Shani speeds the chariot so much that Balbhadra falls off and the chariot wheels go over his legs. Later, @ the palace, the physician tells him that he had to ampute one of his legs to save him. 🤣 Sukhdev assures him that he'll ensure that his orders are carried out.
Sukhdev then sits on the throne and wonders how to usurp it. Shani appears disguised b4 him and tells him to follow his directions, in return for the throne. Sukhdev then becomes king, while Balbhadra is thrown into the dungeons. 😆 Shani does his double role of being Sukhdev's minister, while @ the same time being the guru of Suchitra's child named Vishnu.
14 years pass. Balbhadra is taken out of his dungeons to Sukhdev, who he then accuses of being a traitor. Sukhdev knocks him down, since Balbhadra is lame, and tells him that one who can't protect himself can't claim the right to protect his kingdom. Shani recounts to Balbhadra all his sins and how he tried to kill his son to save himself from where he is now. Balbhadra is embarrassed. Sukhdev gives the order for Balbhadra's execution.
Balbhadra is taken to a spot near his son's gurukul and tied up and prepared for execution. Suddenly, a volley of arrows hunt down all his executioners, and Vishnu, now a teenager, comes and releases Balbhadra. The maid comes there and recognizes Balbhadra, and tells Vishnu that he was the one who ordered his son killed to save himself. Vishnu looks @ him w/ disgust. Balbhadra apologizes to the maid and told her that he was guilty b4 her. The maid tells Vishnu that he is his father, but Balbhadra tells Vishnu that he is undeserving of that honor. Shani in guru garb appears b4 Vishnu and tells him that the time has come for him to do what he taught him for. His father didn't do his pitri-dharm, but he has to do his putra dharm and claim back the throne.
Vishnu then goes to the palace and defeats the guards in a swordfight. He enters Sukhdev's court, and demands his throne back, calling him a traitor. Sukhdev recalls when he had thrown him into the river, but tells him that he'd do now what he couldn't do then. He orders his guards to seize Vishnu, but Vishnu tells him that as one challenged to a fight, he owed it to fight himself. Shani the minister agreed w/ him and told Sukhdev that this was a good opportunity to establish his legitimacy. He then blesses Vishnu secretly, and in the battle that follows, Sukhdev is defeated.
Shani then tells Sukhdev that he's now paying the price of his deeds. Sukhdev has flashbacks of seeing him as Balbhadra's charioteer, and also the person who advised him not to kill Vishnu, and asks who he is. He then dies.
Suchitra & her maid enter the court, as well as Balbhadra, and hug Vishnu. 🤗 Shani tells Vishnu that this kingdom is now his to rule. He tells Balbhadra that being born in the Mul nakshatra didn't itself doom parents to die, but did serve a warning note to them. He said that Suchitra's devotion as well as Balbhadra's sins both had to be addressed, and that's what was done here. He says that from today, Balbhadra would be unable to even dream of doing evil.
Vishnu asks Shani who he was, and Shani reveals his divine form to everybody in the court. Balbhadra leads the cheering for Shani Dev, and on that happy note, the episode ends.
