I don't really agree on Vanraj's death being an addition as I felt he died bcoz of Vashisth's curse. Shani was just watching all this & giving chances to Vanraj to reform himself. I felt, Shani actually started his nyaya chakra on Vanraj after he died. Vanraj thought he would never get punished coz he's dead but Shani sent his messengers to punish his soul. I feel Shani didn't kill Vanraj but was killed due to his own stubbornness to go ahead & do the yagya despite the curse that he would die if he did it.

Thanks for the promo. Looks really exciting!😃 Shani after punishing many for being proud himself will become proud this time😲 I wonder is he really negative or some demon has taken his form & is creating chaos so all blame Shani. Definitely will try to catch this one!😉

Talking about the negative side of him, actually few years ago, I had watched an animated movie, it wasn't actually the story of Shani but it did involve him. There was a king shown who had invited all the gods to his daughter's swayamvar but Shani was the only one left out. Shani got angry & decided to teach the king a lesson. The princess had her mind set that she wanted to marry a king named, I guess Ahir or Ahi or something else😕(sorry forgot the name, so I'll use Ahir😳). Shani casted a spell due to which the princess saw Ahir in all the men who were participating in the swayamvar & got confused. Shani was enjoying this. She prayed to Shiva for help & then she put the garland around the correct person, then the other kings participating got back in their true forms. But Shani wasn't satisfied so the Saade Saati started on Ahir due to which he lost his kingdom & royal status & got separated from his wife. Ahir had to work as a cook in another King's kingdom & his wife meditated & prayed to Shiva, after which the saade saati finished after 7 & half years & Ahir got united with his wife. As I had tuned into the movie since the invitation part, I don't really know whether Ahir was actually getting punished for something or was Shani doing it out of revenge for not being invited. That has still never been clear to me even today. But that movie had definitely shown Shani being excessively proud of himself. I wonder if anybody knows the real story behind it coz I do agree that animated movies makes use of creative license even more than the mytho serials that come on TV.

Well, I'm just making a cameo appearance😉My exams will start from November so I'll be back in full form either towards the end of November or the start of December, till then just a cameo appearance from my side! Maybe I'll try to catch some of the episodes of DBSK later on Youtube after I free myself from this exam tension😳

I've not heard of that Ahi story, but what you described Shani as doing seems to be the sort of thing a Narada would do (in the swayamvar) and someone like Vishwamitra or Durvasa would do (after the marriage). Although, in today's episode, Narada was strangely serious - totally unlike the mischief-monger that he normally is 😆

Anyway, on to today's update:

Today's episode was about the origin of the Rudrasksha mala - the chain of beads that people use to either ward off ill omens, or prevent/cure certain ailments. Shani started his explanation by mentioning that people use all sorts of talismans to cure illnesses, and one such is the rudraksha mala consisting of 21 beads. He describes its origins below.

There was a Brahmarshi named Vishwanath who was doing the godh-bharai of his first born. The gods and the devas and other celestials are all watching it, and suddenly, Lakshmi, Parvati and Saraswati disappear from their consorts' asanas and arrive @ the scene. Vishwanath is overjoyed to see them and greets them. The goddesses then go on to the expectant wife, give her coconuts and bless the would be son. Lakshmi blesses him that he'll have all the good qualities of his parents. Parvati blesses him that he'd have all the rewards that his father has earned, and Saraswati blesses him that he'd be on the path of truth and knowledge. After blessing him, they disappear.

Days later, the wife is undergoing labor pains, and has serious complications. Vishwanath goes in to see his newborn, and asks the nurse if he can hold him. The nurse is hesitant, and when he asks her, she points out his state - he was totally yellow and seemed to be suffering from several ailments. Vishwanath invoked the chief vaid of the devas, who appeared. He analyzed the baby, and listed a number of ailments - all new - that the baby was suffering from. Vishwanath asked him the cure, but the vaid told him that these were all new deseases for which no cure was known. He apologized for being unable to help, and then disappeared. Vishwanath got angry and addressing the gods, told them that he had followed a purely dharmic life, so why is he being punished in this way? He threatens to curse the devas that every one of them will get the exact same deseases his son has. Before he can, Shani manages to get there in time, and begs him not to do it. He tells him that he needs time to find out the cure for those ailments. Vishwanath gives him 3 days, and tells him that if he doesn't have a cure by then, he'll go forward w/ his curse.

Back @ Shani-lok, Shani is discussing this predicament w/ Narada. He tells him that he's found out that the solution to this issue lies in the tears of Shiva. Narada is shocked, and wonders how can the emotionless Shiva be brought to weep? Shani thinks of a plan and silently discusses it w/ Narada. Narada is shocked to hear that, and tells him that it will violate the very essense of Shani. Shani tells him that it is essential for justice to prevail, and begs Narada to keep what they've discussed a secret. Narada reluctantly agrees. Shani then goes out and looks in the world for people who are on their deathbeds. Some such people are shown, w/ Yama's messengers poised to take them. But Shani casts his spells and brings all such people back to life.

The Yama-doots go back to Yamraj abd tell him what Shani is doing. Yamraj visits Shani and tries to explain to him that what he is doing is disrupting the cycle of life and death - if nobody dies, no new souls are made available, and hence, nobody will be born. 😆 Shani tells him that if he wants Shani to stop interfering, all the devas have to acknowledge Shani as the lord of the heavens. Yama is shocked to hear such arrogance from Shani, and so leaves and goes to Devalok, and tells Indra about it. Indra tells the devas to all come w/ him to Shani-lok, but Shani appears there and tells them that there is no need to take that trouble. He then demands that the devas acknowledge him as the supreme devata of all, outraging them. Each of the devas then fights Shani, but he's easily a better mace warrior and defeats them. Finally, he takes on Indra and defeats him as well. The Devas flee, and Shani triumphantly throws away his mace. The devas then approach Shiva and describe everything to him, and Shiva is furious. He asks Nandi to go to Shani and tell him that he's being summoned. When Nandi meets him and tells him to accompany him back, Shani refuses, 😲 and tells Nandi to tell Shiva that if he is acknowledged as the supreme deva, he'll do what Shiva wants. Nandi gets furious and threatens to forcefully take Shani there, but Shani shows him his trishul and Nandi goes back to Shiva - w/o Shani.

Nandi goes back to Shiva, and in the meantime, Shani is on a rampage, flying around and destroying planets on the way 😆 Shiva decides to confront him, and stops in front of him. He re-iterates his demands, and Shani his, while Parvati, Lakshmi & Saraswati look on sadly. Shiva decides that they need to do battle, and both of them invoke their trishuls. Shiva's trishul sends out blue sparks, while Shani's sends out yellow ones. Shani loses this battle, and is knocked down by Mahadev. He however says that he'll continue to disrupt dandkarya and make people immortal, and finally Shiva has had enough and decides to revoke all the powers he had ever granted to Shani. He aim's his trishul @ Shani and 'vacuums' out all of Shani's powers 😲 After that is over, Shiva raises his trishul to strike & kill Shani, and now Narada intervenes. Shiva is furious, but Narada explains to him the whole story of how Shani did all this to save the devas from Vishwanath's curse. On hearing all this, tears roll down Mahadev's eyes 😲 and fall on earth, instantly making available fruits on some trees. Shani explains to Shiva that even more important than him or his reputation was his nyaya-chakra, and he had to get him to cry. Shiva asks him why, and Shani tells him that the cure for Vishwanath's baby lay in the fruits of the trees that were nurtured by his tears. Shani seeks his forgiveness, and asks to be allowed to go and save that baby.

Shani then goes to the garden that has those trees, and gathers the rudraksh beads in his hands. He then goes to Vishwanath, who was all poised to curse the devas, since the 3 days was up. Shani arrives, and Vishwanath tells him that the 3 days were up. Shani points out that they're not, and tells him to take the rudraksha mala w/ 21 beads, and put it around the neck of his son, and he'd be cured of all his ailments. He also tells Vishwanath that the reason all this happened was so that the rudraksha mala could be introduced on earth for the benefit of mankind.

Shani concludes his introduction by explaining that this is how the mala that was nurtured by Mahadev's own tears came about, and how it contains the cure to all ailments.

Comments: One thing about this episode that surprised me was the secrecy that Shani managed to maintain. I can understand him successfully keeping his plan a secret from the devas, but Mahadev? One would have thought that while it was possible for Shani to conceal things from Indra, surely the all knowing Mahadev would have divined Shani's intentions and helped him. Simply going to Mahadev and appealing to him to cry might have produced the same result, instead of that charade of pretending to be arrogant? This was the one thing that was tough to digest - Mahadev being hoodwinked that easily.

However, Shani dev's planet busting rampage was fun to watch 😆 Although his busting Saturn was as tough to believe as Mahadev being in the dark about his intentions, and the battle b/w him & Mahadev looked surreal - nobody ever was a match for Shiva, except for Krishna in the Banasura episode.

Shani did everything to create chaos & took all the blame on himself to save the entire system👏 Shani was never proud of himself as what was shown in the promo. Instead, Shani definitely made everybody proud of him👏 I wonder what was all about that animated movie I had watched😕😲

Anyway coming back to MSDK, I loved the episode👍🏼 & as always, loved Daya Shankar's performance In my POV, he's one of the finest actors on TV currently👍🏼

It was a great episode ignoring Shiva being unaware of Shani's intentions. I always find it weird whenever Shiva or Vishnu are shown being unaware of something going on & they behave as if they don't know anything about it😕 It's just difficult to digest it as they're supposed to know everything that's going on anywhere. Even if Shani had just kept it to himself then also Shiva should have known it. But Shani disclosed his plans to Narad, so how come Shiva didn't know it. He might have disclosed the plan in mute but that was only for us so we couldn't hear his plan, I'm sure the muteness wouldn't have prevented Shiva from hearing what was being said to Narad😆 or maybe Shiva just doesn't have the habit of eavesdropping😆

When he exploded the Saturn planet, I was like OMG!!!😲 Where's he going to live now? 😆 Shani lok means Saturn planet, isn't it? It was really funny when Shani went to capture the throne of Swarg lok. Poor Indra never gets to rest in peace & always has to run away leaving his throne due to demons & this time Shani🤣

Btw I was thinking instead of taking Narad into confidence, Shani could have taken Vayu dev in his confidence & make him spread tear gas to make tears fall from Shiva's eyes. That would have saved more time & energy😆 Poor Shani had to get beaten by Shiva

Shiva & Vishnu are a match & their incarnations too. It's just that the one on the good side will win depending upon the situation. I'm not really sure of Shani. It was mentioned during a conversation between Vishnu & Narad, that Shani would be such a powerful god that even the strongest gods would tremble out of fear even on just hearing Shani's name. But then if I recall that phase when nobody was able to take Shani under control when he was a kid, it was Hanuman who proved to be more powerful & could wrap his tail around Shani & fly in the air. When Shani would beat Hanuman nothing would happen to Hanuman but when Hanuman would beat Shani, Shani would land up falling on the ground. Hanuman being the incarnation of Shiva was shown more powerful than Shani at that time, but I guess they even showed Shiva powerful yesterday. But then Shani was taking all those beatings purposely. I wonder what if Shani had repelled back. However Shani was shown as an arrogant kid at that time so was it the reason why Hanuman was able to defeat Shani?😕

When this serial started, it was aired on Fri, Sat & Sun but later I don't know why the channel just kept it on Sat. As per the schedule of the official website of Imagine, the repeat timings are 2 a.m. & 4 a.m. IST on Sat & Sun.

PKYEK100, welcome to this discussion - glad to have found one more person who follows this serial. In addition to the times Vik mentioned, each episode of Shani is also showed @ Friday night Saturday pre-dawn 2:00am, if one is up that late. 😆

If Shani had taken Vayu-dev into confidence, Mahadev would have burnt him like he did Kama, and then everybody would have had to go w/o air 🤢😆

I thought that Shani is planet Saturn, and orbits the sun. So I too was shocked seeing him shatter Saturn. 😲 Well, Indra getting ousted was funny to watch as well. Shani could have asked him what would you prefer - losing your throne, or being cursed by Vishwanath?

I don't think Shani was ever that powerful, even amongst devas - tops were Vishnu/Shiva, followed by Indra & the rest. Some of the Ramayans have it that Ravan captured Shani and had him lie face down on the stairway to his throne, so that Shani's stare didn't fall upon him. There is a story that Narada once asked Ravana why is Shani facing the other way when other planets are facing him, and Ravan mentioned that it was the curse of his look. Narada laughed @ him and remarked that surely, Ravan must not be that superstitious, and so Ravan took the bait and had Shani face up towards him. This was when Ravan's fortunes started to turn for the worse. Incidentally, in ASR, they had that scene where Ravana defeated Shani in battle by trickery, and imprisoned him.

I agree w/ you that even if Shani had thought of something, Brahma, Vishnu & Shiva at least would have all known about it, as would Saraswati, Lakshmi & Parvati.

yesterday episode was so nice...chanda mama ones ;)...i dont known that why every one calls chandra dev ,chandra mama...but now i know this story ...being a god also they are like this what we except from human being :(

Missed the first part as usual, so I'll just do a short update since the part I started watching it.

Rohini is telling Chandradev to apologize to Tara as she is their guru mata. Chandradev says Tara is just a woman for him nothing more than that🤢 He says Tara is really beautiful & deserves to be with someone like him not Vrihaspati. Rohini is shocked😲

Tara is shown worshipping the Tulsi plant, I guess. Chandradev overcasts moonlight on her. Then he appears in front of her. Tara gets angry & tells him to leave. Chandradev casts a spell on her with his sammohan shakti. It works & she hugs him

Shani at Shani lok is saying that Chandradev is being overwhelmed with evilness.

Chandradev & Tara are at Chandra lok trying to get intimate. Rohini can't bear this & calls out for Shani. Shani at Shani lok is angry with Chandradev & says he'll get punished for all this.

Shani arrives at the place where Vrihaspati is meditating. He apologizes for interrupting Vrihaspati's meditation. Shani tells him to leave for Chandra lok immediately at Tara is in trouble. Vrihaspati leaves. Shani tells himself that how could he explain the truth😭

Vrihaspati arrives at Chandra lok & sees Chandradev & Tara close to each other. He tells Tara to come with him. Tara says she's a beautiful woman & has desire which only Chandradev could fulfill. Chandradev is holding Tara in his arms. Vrihaspati tries to hold Tara's hands & gets an electrifying shock 😲😆 He realizes that Tara is not in her senses at all👏 She's innocent & she's being trapped by Chandradev's spell👏 Chandradev tells Tara to go inside. Vrihaspati is about to hit Chandradev while Chandradev casts a spell on Vrihaspati due to which he keeps on saying he has no relations with Tara now He leaves.

Shani appears in Chandra lok & shouts out for Chandradev. He says from now onwards Chandradev will never be able to cast a spell on anyone. He also releases Tara from Chandra's spell. Tara says Chandra ruined her patni dharam & says she can't live anymore & runs away. Shani tries to stop her in vain😭

Tara is shown running & crying😭 Shani on his eagle appears in front of her & tells her it's not her fault & Vrihaspati knows this & is waiting for her. He tells her to return back home. She agrees.

Shani & Tara appear in the hut of Vrihaspati. They see Vrihaspati chanting the sentence that he has no relations with Tara now onwards Tara is sad. Shani frees him from the spell. Tara runs & falls on Vrihaspati's feet. She begs for forgiveness. Then she faints. Vrihaspati checks her pulse & is shocked. Shani asks him what happened on which he replies that Tara is pregnant. Shani is shocked😲

Chandradev appears there😡 He has this evil smile on his face that Tara is going to be the mother of his child. Shani is angry. Tara regains her consciousness. Shani tells the other ladies to take her inside. Chandradev tells them to be careful. Shani gets angrier. He tells Chandradev that he's crossed all limits which can never be forgiven, not only he insulted a woman but also her patni dharam & now he'll be punished for whatever he did. He says now he'll cast his evil eyes on Chandradev. Chandradev's fair complexion turns dark. Shani says his sin is equivalent to Brahma hatya so he'll receive Brahma dand until he's alive. He grants permission from Brahma to give Chandradev that punishment. Brahma nods.

A weapon appears in Shani's hands, and then he starts beating Chandradev with it. Chandradev is running for his life while Shani is chasing him & beating him. He arrives in front of Indra, Vayu & Varun, then again runs away from there. The background song suggests that this took place for about a year. Chandradev finally arrives at Kailash in front of Shiva & tells him to save him from Shani. Shani appears & says his sins can never be forgiven. Shani curses him that he'll appear slowly & disappear slowly for 15 days & finally only on the 16^th day he'll be able to gain his full form. He also curses him that this dark spot he received from Shani will always remain with him as a stain. Shani also says that from now onwards all the women except Rohini will be his sisters due to which all the kids of every women will call him mama due to which he'll be known as Chanda mama. Chandradev agrees & says that from now onwards he'll regard all women except Rohini as his sister.

Tara has already given birth to her son. She sadly says that who's the father of this child? Shani arrives there & says that the one who rears the child is superior to the one who gives birth to the child so this child will always be known as Vrihaspati's son. Indra, Vayu & Varun dev also appear there & say this child will be known as Vrihaspati's son. Brahma also appears in the sky & agrees. He adds that this son will be named as Budh & will be known as one of the planets Budh graha who will be known for his wisdom & knowledge.

Tara thanks Shani. All do the jai jaikar of Shani. The episode ends.

Comments: The episode was very good. It was quite interesting to know why Chandra is regarded as everybody's maternal uncle. Regarding the other curses, I'm just confused, I thought the disappearing & appearing forms of the moon was due to the curse by Ganesh😕 I had watched an animated movie which showed Ganesh falling down & couldn't get up due to his over weight. Chandra was watching all this & started laughing at him & called him fat. Ganesh couldn't stand this & said that Chandra was proud of his appearance so cursed him to disappear permanently due to which the glow of Chandra lost. Chandra apologized & Ganesh said he couldn't take back his curse but he'll change it. Ganesh says that Chandra will appear slowly & then gain his full form then he'll lose his form slowly then disappear for one night & this process will repeated.

On the other hand, I've heard the same story of Ganesh falling & Chandra laughing at him due to which Ganesh curses him that who ever sees the moon on that night will be blamed with the charge of robbery. I wonder which story is the correct one. More stories leads to more confusion😆 So was it Shani who cursed him for the appearing & disappearing phenomenon as this cursing by Ganesh of being blamed for stealing is more famous😕

I recall watching this Tara & Chandra incident many years ago, but don't remember which serial it was. In that serial they showed that Tara & Chandra had an eye lock due to which Budh was born. But in that serial they didn't show Tara being cast with a spell. They showed her being attracted towards Chandra. They showed Vrihaspati wasn't pleased with her after that incident & even showed Chandra repenting on his act. And due to this Chandra was known for this daag. Budh after being a grown up gets to know what his mother did & is upset with her. Then he goes out to meditate to wash her sins, something like that & gains wisdom & knowledge.

However I liked the treatment of the subject matter of Tara & Chandra in MSDK. In that unknown serial, they showed Tara in the wrong spot & Chandra repenting automatically but in MSDK they showed Tara being innocent & Chandra being the only culprit who doesn't reform until he gets severe punishment from Shani.

The scene where Vrihaspati got this electric shock from Tara was just funny😆 definitely a zor ka jhatka hai zoron se laga 😆

But one thing that I didn't understand is that why didn't Shani stop Chandra right there before he could cast a spell on Tara😕 If Shani could stop Kamadev from casting a spell on Achala to save her patni dharam & make his sammohan shakti ineffective to save Achala then why not this time? Achala was a common woman but this time Tara a guru mata of all the gods... Why did he let Chandra cast a spell on Tara & let them both get intimate? Was it just bcoz Budh planet needed to be born? That's not an appropriate justification, is it? Ignoring this question, the episode was a very good one. But this question is just disappointing
