It has been 3 months since that fateful day, I am here in my room feeling very low, I am wondering how an incident has changed my entire life.

Knock, Knock

"Come in" I said wondering who is knocking at my room, Adhiraj always bangs in, Daadi would have called through the intercom and I don't remember calling Nakul

The moment the door opened I knew it was her, she did not come inside.

"Would you not come in, Sameera?" I said without turning to see her

She hesitatingly stepped in, for a long time none of us spoke, there was pin drop silence and our heartbeats could be clearly heard.

I turned to face her, she was standing still looking at the floor pattern, fidgeting with her duppatta and there hung a bag on her shoulder.

"Sameera" was all I could manage to say

Without looking up she extracted a card from her bag and extended it in my direction; I was expecting this, I was the one who had forced her to agree for this.

"Do you want me to come?" I asked, though I knew the answer.

"Yes"

"I will come" I said, not looking at her

"I went to Gurgaon yesterday" she said

I did not like that, "Why?"

"I wanted to see Bhab.. I mean Didi" she said

"Did you give her the card?"

"I couldn't" "Why?"

"Maan" my name sounded so good coming from her, "she has not yet recovered, I think you should bring her here to her home," it was not like Sameera to voice her opinion, but she loved Geet enough to speak for her.

"What can I do in this?" I asked, I was no more sure as to what was right and what was wrong.

"Maan, well before she married Dev Bhai, she was our friend. Hope you have not forgotten that" she was trying to make me recall how things have been. She continued, "She is in shock. She never expected Dev Bhai to leave her like this. She needs to be with her son, she needs to be with Daadi and she also needs you"

"So you think I should go and bring her back to KM" I asked

"Yes, this is her home. The place where she came as a Bahu"

"OK, I will bring her. But after your marriage" I told her, "I hope Gautam is a good choice for you" I said looking at her

She sighed, "I have told him everything about us"

"Why?"

"I did not want him to know this from someone else" she said

She was always the truthful one, and I appreciated her for this. She will be happy, I know because she accepts everything with an open heart.

"I wish you luck for your future" I said and turned away from her.

She came near me and touched my shoulder, I was shocked, I faced her and looked at her, she stepped forward, tiptoed and kissed my forehead, "Gautam says he will never try to take your place in my heart but will only try to create one for himself"

I cupped her face, "and I see he already has started"

She smiled and hugged me.

After 3 months I cried, when her bro came to fetch her I was still crying with my head on her lap, he came near me and tapped my shoulder, I stood up and he engulfed me in a bear hug saying, "Maan all will heal with time. Always remember we can't get more then our destiny and before the allocated time"

Why these Singhanias are so understanding?

After Sameer's marriage I went to Gurgaon, Daadi was happy that finally Geet will be home, Adhiraj was missing her and so was Daadi.

On hearing about Dev Bhai's demise Geet was shocked, she lost her voice and sanity at that time, she did not cry nor did she react to anything. She fainted now and then, Doctors said it was momentary and with time she will heal.

At KM it was getting difficult to take care of her, she behaved strangely as if Dev bro was somewhere nearby.

After the last rituals she went near Singhania's and said, "Sorry Uncle." All were shocked on hearing her, then she came near Sameera and said, "I will arrange for the marriage as soon as possible." Everyone gave her a strange look.

Mohinder Handa looked troubled, he was helpless as everything has happened before his arrival. When he heard the news of the accident he rushed to Delhi but as he was in New York, it took him two days to arrive. His wife was shocked and did not know what to do. He folded his hands and said, "Sorry Sameera, I do not agree to all this. From my point of view as well as Geet's point of view nothing has changed."

But Mr. Singhania just said, "everything that happens has to happen and no one can get what is not in their destiny."

After seeing all this her father took her to Gurgaon for change thinking, she would come to her senses there and remember what had happened after Dev bro's demise.

But Sameera said there was no improvement, she might improve if we bring her back.

Mr. Handa was surprised to see me, I have not informed them about my plans.

"Maan, what a surprise?" he said, "How is your Daadi? And how is Adhiraj?" he looked behind me to see if Adhiraj had come.

"I have come alone. I want to surprise him. He is really missing Geet" I said

"I thought you all will never come" the elder man sighed, directing me to the sitting room.

"Where is she? I know there is no improvement" I said

"Sameera told you? She is a real gem, you should marry her as soon as the year of mourning completes" he said.

I did not tell him about her marriage, but followed him to Geet's room ; her mother was sitting there. She was equally shocked to see me.

I bowed and took her blessings and went near Geet, who was looking listlessly at the ceiling.

"Geet!" I called, she turned to face me, "Come on stand up, it's time you should come with me to your home. Adhiraj and Daadi are waiting for you"

She looked at me first with a confused expression and then suddenly she sat down, I came near her and touched her arm, she sobbed and tears started flowing from her eyes.

"Maan, what has happened? Why was he so mercilessly killed out of no fault of his? Why?" she cried.

I accompanied her in her sobs, and we both cried for long.

Later her mother took her to get ready.

"Uncle" I asked, "did you tell her anything?"

"No, Maan no one has said anything to her, she does not know anything and there is no need for her to know all that. I don't believe in such things and neither will she be happy to know" he said, "soon you should marry Sameera and everything will be OK."

I did not say anything. Soon Geet came out with her Bhabhi, she was wearing a plain pale yellow sari, she was looking so tired and sad. For the first time I saw her without any jewellery and bindi, I could not digest her in this widow attire. Dev bro will not like this.

But what can I say, I remembered what Sameera said, waqt se pehele aur kismet se zyada kuch nahin milta' and I sighed.

After lunch I left for Delhi with Geet.
