Bound to the King 1
The medieval setting and the whole ambiance reminded me of an episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch (also there's a children book on it), actually most Disney shows which time and again show how the Tutors and the Victorians lived. So my imagination was having a gala of a time.
I was really apprehensive of Maan, I don't know let's just say the combination of Henry VIII and Maan didn't make for a pretty picture, ok picture of ok lol but for a decent character. Of course the porcupine didn't help, him with a new girl each night painted a not-so-well picture but then Geet steps in and for the first time he shows a humane side, well then again before that there wasn't much to go by; I had already coloured a womaniser and a merciless leader so that was a shock.
So obviously then I read he not only allows her to stay at the castle but also ignores her obvious attempts to hide her true identity, and although it is against it but somehow he allows her the coverage, allows her that time to come and tell him herself. When I read of her hurt back, my throat was in my mouth, poor her, and like Maan I was only too eager to find out. Adi and Pinky were a nice addition, so sympathetic and lovely people. I suppose with them around Maan had no option but to be a good man, but I do recognise a good man when I see one and Maan is all good.
Of course under his rule, there had been some misfortune and unfortunately Geet's brother ended up paying for it. Her instant dislike is understandable, I do have only one brother whom we all love dearly so Geet's pain and despair is sort of relatable.

That little freak, I knew I hated the handyman and now I know why, cheap little sod. How dare he? I am only too happy that Maan came to the rescue and beat the guard up for such a low filthy disgusting act. Geet however still didn't trust him, ofcourse she has her own reason, to loose the only person that is dear must be hard and that blame falls on Maan, at least on her behalf. I am glad Maan is shown compassionate rather than a ruthless ruler, as I first assumed.
Geet is then given the job of a nursery nurse/teacher of sorts which she refuses even after Maan, Adi and Pinky asked. But I'm glad she agrees in the end, she found a window of opportunity through that little kid which helped her release some of the pent up emotions be it through love and care. Maan and Geet also finding a comfortable status, though for Maan probably wasn't still comfortable considering his growing likes. Finally the message came from Geet's village, a rude interruption Maan hated but at last stirred enough storm for him to ride into action. He asked his woman for marriage, a proposal Geet didn't favour, and I assumed she will reject the offer or maybe comply but super happy to know she too likes him. They end up being married with a child.
This is a very different tale, one I thoroughly enjoyed. Yes the imaginary was made of dark and dull castles, with armoured clothing and velvet robes not too fond of the entire Victorian/medieval get up lol. But nonetheless an amazing story with brilliant characters.
