Its funny how many of us bristle when advice is handed out by people we don't expect to be on the same page as us. That same advice appears positively ingenious when it comes from ones we expect it from.
Dadi has no filter on her mouth. Sometimes her words bite but at other times she is funny as hell.
So there is a rich prospect for Naina in the picture. Why did Anu have to draw comparisons like that? That was rude.
If Naina indeed does get married in a rich family, what would be the reactions from Smrita and Rakshit's mother? Would love to see that.
Dadi is too funny. Typical middle class family banter. Love Raanav’s act. So sweet of him.
Anu's comment about Naina's alliance makes it all sound so wrong.. like the girls are marrying for the financial status above anything else! Tactless!! 👎🏼
Why's Viveka upset by the news? Because Naina didn't share it with her even when they talked??
Tch tch.. poor guy spent the night slogging and sorting through his wife's shelves and gets labelled as bereham!! 🤣
Dadi is the bereham one here! 😆
Roles & Rituals
“You are thoughtful and kind” she muttered as they rode the car
“Stop crying” he growled
“Tum nahi rotey ho jab tumhe Khushi hoti hai?”
He looked at her and rolled his eyes and then turned to the road
“I almost didn’t want to go with you I love my room so much now” she sniffle giggled
“Remind me to mess it back up”
Her heart skipped a beat
He had just conveyed he wanted her to go with him
Papa se kya baat kar rahe the?”
He had gone for a walk with Akash when she had driven off to drop Diya and karuna at the Metro station
“Just the usual”
He mumbled
“Is he going to invest in undersea pipeline?”
“Nope”
“Wow… you are very talkative aren’t ya?”
She laughed
He looked at her grinned and turned away
“Naina nahi thi” she started
“No Vi stop”
“Kyon keh rahe ho aise”
“It always makes us fight. Its her or my MUM”
She was shocked
“I don’t have anything against your Mum”
“So I have something against Naina u think?”
“Nahi… umm.. nahi”
“ I am happy she took a break and visited ur aunt”
“They are trying to set her up in an arranged marriage”
“Great”
She looked at his profile
“Is he happy his cousin will be free now?” she thought
“I think she forgot Inder”
“Like I said I DON’T want to talk about that”
She looked out the window
“Mujhe Shahpur nahi chhodogey?” she asked as he approached Dhaula Kuan”
“I will”
“Do u want to check out the new laptops I bought?”
He laughed
“It’s a big deal, the NGO made some money in the Maurya Sheraton stall”
“That’s great”
“If I don’t get accepted to PhD in Fall I think I might just start working someplace and do NGO in the evenings
“Are u looking for jobs?”
“No abhi to I am applying to PhD”
He was quiet the rest of the way
He wondered if Naina’s fantastic job was beginning to get to Viveka
She had wasted too much time eyeing a elite PhD program
It was heartbreaking to see her not succeed
“U are great in anything you do” he said diplomatically
“So what is your recommendation”
“Uh oh” he thought in his mind “I better not take this one”
“Raanav Kya soch rahe ho?”
“Umm.. nothing…”
“What shud I do u think”
“I think it’s a great idea to apply for a PhD”
“Yeah” she smiled satisfied
“But I feel u have great leadership skills you could put it to good use”
“NGO chalana mushkil hai Raanav, I would need someone like me for Operations I can go do the fund raising and business dev. Dono kar rahi hoon”
“Are u looking to hire someone?”
“Do u have someone in mind?”
“Me” he smiled
“I couldn’t afford you” she muttered looking into his eyes
“I have fantasies about being bossed around by you”
“Uffff” she looked out the window
One night with no physical stuff and the Parashar kid was sending her up the wall
“What sort of fantasies?”
“Late night work session, or scientist and lab techs were my favorites until recently” he spoke glibly
She turned bright red
“U no longer have any now?”
“Now its mostly Prof & T.A” he met her gaze at the stop light
She turned away
“I would be the Professor”
“I wouldn’t have it any other way”
He dropped her off, got off, opened the door and tapped her cheek
The area where her dingy shack of an NGO was in the middle of a near slum like location
“What about Hiring Mgr and candidate?” she chuckled
“I love all of them” he promised huskily
She smiled later laughing as she walked into her office
He called Akash no answer, texted him, and 30 minutes later, when he got to Gurgaon he called again
Naina answered the phone
“Can I speak to Mr Mathur?”
“Hello, Raanav its Naina”
“Oh hi…. Did u have a good sleepover at your aunt’s?”
“Ha” she cackled
“I probably sound like I am prying I apologize” he said politely
“Its fine… Papa is not here”
“That’s fine”
“I will let him know” she said
“Thanks” he hung up
Naina read the text slowly
“How can u keep the news of the wedding a secret”
Will Naina be a spoilsport?
I hope Naina proves me wrong.
Why does Viveka keep bringing Naina's name all the time when she talks with Raanav. Can't she leave Naina to her own fate and be happy. She should be happy that Raanav loves her and wants to be with her all the time especially at night😉.
Thank you, Nisha.
Love all the fantasy scenarios Raanav and Veev came up with. Will they act them out? The bigger question Nisha, will you write about them?
I am getting risque here aren't I?
