What you quoted is very, very right. many of us our fortunate enough to be brought up in open-minded families, with parents who have a broad outlook. but in many parts of the country, women still hold the same position that they did years back, even before independence. in fact, independence never came to women.
and this is not only limited to backward households, even LAW makes women weaker than men. having studied law and being in the system, I can say this with surety that even today, even an institution as ethical and pious as the Indian Jurisprudence views any matter involving both men and women in a strongly lopsided way. Ours is a patriarchal society and Family laws too strongly empower men's will over that of the female (a very well known example...Medical jurisprudence gives the right to get an unborn child aborted to the prospective father. without the consent of the male member involved, a woman, even if married, cannot get the child aborted without the consent of her husband/male counterpart).
The cause of the problem is not just the men who want their supremacy over women to continue the way it has since years...it is the women, who are so gullible that they do not even wish to seek a better life, a better future for themselves...who are used to (or even happy, sometimes) accepting whatever is meted out on them. who not only right inferiority and injustices in theirs, but in the lives of those around them, those who are ready to obey them, as well. Had Draupadi agreed to what Gandhari and Kunti wanted her to do, to stay quiet, to not raise her voice, would the biggest war of history that continues to be a citation by anyone who speaks of dharma, righteousness and justice even have occurred?
Coming over to your story...amazing concept. countering this problem, taking this initiative is a really god thing that you've done.
And yeah...suspense! well that is something that compels readers to read more!! Really good start. All the best!
Thank you for the PM...

Thoroughly enjoyed reading the prologue and sneak peak (:
This concept that should be addressed by the whole nation because it is something every girl goes through in her life.
I love how you explained the relationship of marriage in your prologue. It truly gives an insight on how marriages work in India and even for NRIs.
I am honestly intrigued about how this story will progress and how Khushi will fights the bonds of marriage to be with her husband.

When you first told me about this work, I thought that ArShi would be in a marriage or something. This Rahul twist was unexpected and honestly a fresh breather. Way to be different and unique!

Onto the sneak peak. I don't feel mad at Suhasini, rather I feel pity for her. She is just sticking to her roots and relaying the information that she was brought up on. Every mother in Indian society has these views because she is bred in them.

Some suggestions/questions/ideas whatever:

1) Maybe show what relationship her parents share. The extent of blind devotion a woman can have for her husband.

2) If Khushi has any siblings, what are their views on this situation? Do they agree with Khushi or are they on the traditional side?

Again, just some suggestions (:
Please continue soon and would love to receive pms for this work <3

I am so overwhelmed, Ashu! I am obliged to receive comments as beautiful as this! Naah, ArShi being in marriage or love is something we show in everything! So Rahul was necessary!

If you don't feel mad now, I will make sure you will feel mad on her soon! Well, I think when our generation will become the parenting generation these views will cease to exist, hopefully! Till then, yeah we have to bear with these!

The parents' relationship was something that was in the back of my mind, and now with you telling me this I will surely bring it in to action. The siblings, I plan to have no siblings and I will definitely show one friend of Khushi who is on the traditional side and one with Khushi!

Thanks a lot for these beautiful comments and suggestions! I will PM you!

Woah, someone pinch me! Such a long comment! Thanks a lot, baby! Yes, the family laws are also partial which almost makes these divisions to be a part of our mentality now! Seriously, both our Constitution and the thought processes of our society need to get some amendments done!

I will continue to PM you!
