Part 1

" This marriage was an act for me. Nothing more, nothing less."

Khushi realized how wrong her words were, when she was about to meet a guy named Rahul who was supposed to be her prospective groom. She felt as if the destiny was joking with her life as she was going to meet a prospective groom when she, herself had given her heart to someone, who was her husband by the rituals and customs.

How easily had she denied of having any feelings for him when he had asked for? The pain which was evaded his eyes as his heart wrenched with rejection from his ladylove, was now seen in Khushi's eyes. But how could she ever explain that she had to reject him to protect his life from the people who boasted of the number of honor killings committed by them, and people who were related to her by blood.

The conflict in between the angst and love couldn't cease to exist but her thoughts were put to a stop as she heard her mother addressing her.

" Khushi, when Rahul and his family comes here, don't even speak a word. Girls are meant to be seen and not heard, understand? And if Rahul Bitua asks you for something, you are going to give it to him without a moment of thought. He is your would-be husband." Suhasini, though was a mother by relation to Khushi felt as if a stranger to her by the number of differences they had in the way they thought.

" Would-be, Mumma. He is not my husband and even if he is, then why will I have to listen to him as if I am a slave? And why should I not speak Mumma? You cannot make a relationship by faking yourself." Khushi, whose ideals were as strong as she herself was, couldn't see her mother being so submissive to her father and now when she herself was asked to be submissive, she knew she had to take stand.

"
Only if you didn't educated so much, you wouldn't have been so against our morals. Aye Khushi, learn to respect your husband first. Your should never say 'no' to your husband because husband is said to be the form of Lord Shiva. All these studies and everything don't mean anything, as long as you have a husband. Everything in a woman's life starts and ends with their husbands and marital life. I don't understand why you wanted to get educated so much.So learn his value and act accordingly. Didn't I say that you have to be silent? Why don't you understand when you are explained once?

Listen Khushi, we women are meant for kitchens. Anyways, people meant for kitchens should not speak much or they lose the value they have in the eyes on their husbands, understood? If anything goes awry then believe me, you will see the worst of me. " Suhasini warned Khushi using the same words which her mother had used for her.

Waves of seas of tears formed in her eyes, as a deep sinking feeling developed in her stomach as thought about her mom's words. Was it for this reason that she remained numb about her love? Was it for this cause that she chose to forget the person who was ritualistically her husband?

" Aye Suhasini! Where are you dead? You take so long to do simple things like cooking. Such a lazy person you are.Learn something from Sumitra." The entry of Sudhakar marked with the scoldings for Suhasini as always. And Suhasini again, though she knew that he was coming from her co-wife, Sumitra's house, had fear written all over face with admiration and blind respect spilling from her eyes as tears.

" I am sorry, Sudhakar Ji. I will try to be more quicker in future." Suhasini apologized sincerely with the respect not decreasing even by an ounce.

Khushi's belief in marriages and love was destroyed the moment she came to know that her father had married a young woman named Sumitra, because her mother couldn't conceive again and he, like almost half of the population of India, wanted a boy child, who could increase his 'honor'.

For her, marriage didn't remain as the sacred institution which all the religions rejoice and the constitution of India upholds. It remained as a cruel joke which played with a woman's feelings to an extent, where she either destroyed the self-respect in her to remain as the society wants or to an extent where her self-respect causes people to destroy her.

From a person who never wanted to marry, destiny changed Khushi into a person who fulfills all the vows of the marriage she had unconsciously taken. Not because of the fact that she had taken the vows with someone, but because of the love, the honesty she saw in his eyes, which she had never seen in any guy's eyes till then.

Rahul Kapoor, the person who had one night stands with girls whom he didn't even know, was now her beau. Correction forced beau. She didn't even had a say when the relation was finalized, she was just forced into a relation which was already finalized and decided. Beginning for emotional blackmail to physical assaults, Suhasini had done everything to make Khushi agree to marriage she never wanted.

Every girl aspires to have a husband who would protect her like her father, respect her like a brother, care for her like friend and love her like a lover. But Rahul neither had protective instincts for Khushi in him, neither respected her in anyway nor cared for her feelings and love, the only feeling which he had for her was raw lust, which she had come to know when Rahul tried to forcibly kiss her and get on the bed with her, using the rights which her parents snatched from her and gave it to him.

But the luck favored her and she escaped from him after a slap landed with a thud on Rahul's face. But the best part was that, Suhasini condemned Khushi for not letting him touch her, which Suhasini felt as Rahul's right as Khushi's would-be husband. No wonder marital rape is still not illegal in India! Where men think it is their right over their wives/lovers and can do anything with them, and women condemn the women who don't bend down in front of a man's needs, how can marital rape be made illegal?

While every factor seemed to look down on her love, Khushi knew that she could be of someone else by her body, but her mind and heart had only one name written on them, Arnav Singh Raizada.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Shantivan,

With looks that could kill, and breath that could burn, Arnav Singh Raizada was pacing around in the room to think of solution to their problem. He knew that his love, his wife, his Khushi loved him as much as he loves her but he knew that coming from an extremely orthodox, conservative influential family, Khushi was too much in love with him to risk his life to be with him.

His heart bled when Khushi narrated how she had barely escaped from the jerk Rahul and her mother had taunted her to be a characterless girl who was a black spot on the family reputation. Maybe that was the rule, if you want good reputation you had to let off of one's dreams, one's wishes and one's freedom.

But Arnav was not the one who believed that reputation took a higher place than love. Ask the value of love from a person who lost it, and ask the damage incurred by the people in love due to the boundaries which the society laid, to know how love which can soothe every pain in the world, can also be the fire which burns you into ashes from inside.

One side there was society and the other side, there was their love, which may not be appropriate but is so pure that the even the sins worship it, after all love was the Gunaahon Ka Devta, the Lord of sins.

I hope you liked the chapter. This was just a filler kind of chapter so that you can get a basic idea about the whole plot again. If you have any doubts please do revert back to me.

AND I love you guys a lot! Actually more than I love my chocolates!

Freaking Res
Been waiting like forever now!
Will UnRes soon
Gotta go do some math hw <3

Unres
Aww I wanted to be first :( chalo next time :D
Um, can you stop being awesome at writing? It makes me jealous to be honest. You, Didu, and Pepsi are seriously raising my insecurity levels right now!

Anyways onto the update <3 it was extremely well written
I feel pity for Suhasini because she is now the other woman but I also detest her. Polygamy is degrading and pathetic.
While I was reading her views, I was like: "So if Rahul wants to touch Khushi before marriage, it's okay" it's like we have a mind connection coconut lol because you stressed that fact in anther paragraph.
This is disgusting and highly pathetic. Suhasini is basically handing her daughter on a platter and saying rahul ji please come rape my daughter because she has no self respect whatsoever.
I wonder what she would say that I don't know how to cook a single dish. Even my sandwiches come out burnt. Bruh, I wasn't made for the kitchen, I was made for the couch watching Netflix.

I really hope Arnav comes up with a great plan to get HIS khushi back. And I don't mean that Khushi is is possession but they belong to each other. Question! Arnav and Khushi are married?

Great update my itty bitty coconut <3
Update soon and pm me :D
Mujhe buddy request send kardena, I'm too lazy right now 😆
