Falling in love with your Best Friend

~ Chapter 3 - Instant Love ~

"Why were you staring his friend like that?" Khushi inquired Payal, irritation evident in her voice; while walking to the college garden to wait for the next class to begin.

"Woh, I..Actually..umm..I.." Payal stammered, not knowing the reason herself.

"Why are you stammering yaar? C'mon Speak up.. "

"Yaar.. I think I love him!" Payal exclaimed.

"You What??" Shock would be an understatement for Khushi.

"I love him" Payal said sheepishly.

"Seriously?" Khushi was not able to believe.

In response, Payal nodded her head, blushing.

"Instantly?"

Payal again nodded her head.

"OMG Payal.. Tujhe koi aur nhi mila tha? Tujhe uska naam bhi pata hai?"

(OMG Payal.. Didn't you get anyone else? Do you even know his name?)

Khushi asked while settling down on a bench along with Payal.

"Nhi pata yaar.. Though Arnav has called out his name a number of times, but I didn't hear."

Payal told innocently.

"Yaar.. I can't believe. Even Maggi is not made this instantly. And you are falling in love? Are you serious?"

"Now what can I do yaar.. I've fallen badly."

"Fallen?"

"In love with him!" Payal blushed.

"Now what?" Khushi asked, feeling annoyed with her shy behavior.

"Now, you go and tell him this." Payal said, excitedly.

"What the hell! I should go and tell him? What will I say? 'Actually, my best friend has instantly fallen in love with you and--' " Khushi said irritatedly in an imitated voice.

"Khushi!''

"Yaar.. What can I do? Ok wait.. Don't be upset. I'll first let you know his name and get familiar with him.. Then you can confess it yourself.. Okay?" Khushi said with a smile. She is there to solve her best friend's problems!

"Okay!" Saying that, Payal hugged Khushi, blushing furiously.

On the other hand, Arnav and Aakash were sitting in the canteen, discussing about the same matter.

"Are you seriously in love with her?" Arnav asked Aakash, not believing how instant can love be!

"Of'course yaar. I love her!" Aakash said as a matter-of-fact.

"Oh my god! Aakash.. I can't believe!" Arnav said. He and Khushi had a conversation for just about a minute or so and till the time Aakash stares her friend and fall in love !

"So what? That's not my problem if you don't believe. I love her and that's final." Aakash said, firmly.

"Okay. Wait bro. So are you going to tell her this soon?"

"No no.. Not soon.. I don't even know her name right now." Aakash said confidently.

"You don't even know her name? Ok do what you wish!" Arnav said, while getting up.

"Hey Arnav.. Are you not going to help me out?"Aakash said while pulling Arnav down to his chair.

"How can I help you, Sir?" Arnav said, sarcastically.

"Go to her friend.. Khushi.. And tell her this.."

"You love Khushi? I thought you love her friend!" Arnav replied, an unknown feeling of possessiveness gripping him.

"No I love her friend only." Aakash said and then continued. "You go and talk to Khushi and inquire everything about her friend and then come and tell me.."

"What?! No way! I'm not going to talk to Khushi...!" Came the stubborn reply from Arnav.

"Tu mere liye itna bhi nahi karega?" (You will not do this much for me?)

Aakash sniffed, acting as if he was about to cry; his emotional drama full-on!

"Stop it! Okay I'll talk to her." Arnav said helplessly.

"You are the best, bro!"

Soon, their next class started, with Arnav and Khushi planning how to talk to each other and Aakash and Payal thinking about each other, unaware of the reciprocation of their love.

And in the same way the next class.

"Khushi, yaar.. I'm really sorry.. There are some friends of my mom coming home, so mom has called me home earlier. Sorry, I'll not be able to drop you home. Just manage for today. This will never happen ever after.." Payal said, apologetically.

"Its ok yaar.. No need for sorry.. Its absolutely ok.. I'll go home by a cab.. Don't worry.." Khushi said comforting her.

"Ok then bye baby.. I have to hurry up!" Payal said hurriedly and started her scooty.

"Bye!" Khushi said.

"Taxi! Taxi!" Khushi called out while waving her hand to get a taxi.

"Khushi?" She heard her name and turned back.

"Arnav?" Khushi said, "You here?"

"Where is your friend?" Arnav asked, "isn't she dropping you home?"

"No.. Actually she had some work so I told her to go..And from past fifteen minutes, I'm calling for a taxi but not even a single one is stopping.."

"Oh.. You come with me. Our destination is same.." Arnav said with a smirk, making Khushi nervous.

"No no, I'll soon catch up a taxi."

"Shy?" Arnav asked, making her all the more nervous.

"Who? Me?" Khushi tried her best to not to let her nervousness cover her confidence.

"Yes you"

"No, not at all shy. I just don't want you to favor me." Khushi said.

"Excuse me..I'm not favoring you.. Just a friendly help!"

"Really? Are we friends?"

"I don't know. Chalo, if we are not friends.. Lets become."

Arnav said with a smile.

Khushi looked at him with a hesitant smile.

"Friends?"

Arnav asked and stretched his hand forward.

Khushi took a deep breath and took forward her hand to shake it with his, "Friends" she said.

And they both shared a warm-smile.

"So.. should we go?"

Arnav asked.

"Yeah. But is it ok for you?"

Khushi asked. She was not very sure of him.

"We are friends right? Then how would taking you home affect me?"

"Right.. but.."

"Hey relax. I'm just telling you to come home with me, not anything else."

Arnav said, biting his lower lip mischievously.

"Shut up!"

Khushi retorted, while a stint of red rushed up her cheeks.

"You are so girly, Khushi."

Arnav said when he saw Khushi blushing.

"So what? I am a girl only!"

"Oh I forgot!"

"Haww!"

"What haww? Actually it is the first time a I made a friend who is a girl.. "

Arnav said.

"Oh.."

"So.. Can we go now?" Arnav said, "I am too hungry."

"Ok lets go. I am also very hungry. And Auntie also must be waiting for us.."

Khushi said, while letting out a tired yawn.

"Come." Arnav said, while leading her towards his bike.

"I hope you'll not make me fall." Khushi said while settling herself at the back of Arnav on his bike.

"I can only make girls fall in love with me .. Not off my bike.."

Arnav said, chuckling.

"You are such a flirt, Arnav!"

"Now Ready.Set.Go!!" Arnav screamed while kick-starting his bike. He was way to excited while riding a girl on his bike.

Khushi giggled and shook her head.

.."It was the beginning of their journey together"..
