Hiya, Proteeti here! Can I call you Lizzy?
Also I'm on mobile...so I'll copy paste my prev response. You also do let me know your preferences!
Genres: Historical Fiction (eg. Ken Follett, Khaled Hosseini), Social Fiction (eg. Sunil Ganguly, Ashapoorna Devi), Literary Commentaries (eg. N. P. Bhaduri, S. Bhattacharji)...also I am planning to start reading Mr. Debroy's translation of Ramayana on my own time, so if anyone wants to hop on that too!
(^^P.S. These authors I've already read, just noting them as examples).
I'd be open to other genres too, just no Colleen Hoover please. I've heard a lot of stuff about it being ingenuous, so I am kinda unsure of it (but then I read a biography on Mandodari, where 'Mandodari' was misspelled thrice so I like to think I've built up immunity to most stuff).
Hi Proteeti,
My preferred genres are: anything except for self-help and autobiographies.
My triggers are: graphic depictions of non-con activities, extreme manipulation and child abuse.
Let me know, if you need to know more.
Great! Let me come up with a list of books!
Um, among the books I've been meaning to check out (I haven't read them yet, so I'm going off of Internet reviews, hence feel free to shoot ém down if you find something from your own research that you wouldn't want to read ):
- Familiaris - David Wroblewski (animals)
- Three Men on a Boat - Jerome K Jerome (suicide)
- Yugandhar (English) - Shivaji Sawant/Kadambini Dharap
Do let me know if I should suggest other stuff, if you want more options form my end.
Can we skip suicide theme? I did an entire coursework on it, which makes reading suicide themed texts more intense.
Yeah that's completely understandable, I tried my best to look for books without triggers. Let me see if I can find something less intense.
Can you also suggest a few books? Then I can search for books also as per that.
