Chapter 18: Misunderstandings

It was now 2 weeks later. Viren had managed to get a case filed against Karan, the process would still take longer but at least it was a start. Virat was working full time at the internship now trying his best to get a permanent position there. Manvi was also interning now at the company much to Virat's pleasure. Another two weeks passed like this and Viren was getting closer to evidence for his case. He was even able to get a testimony from the doctor that did Manvi's abortion. Manvi smiled as Virat drove them to her internship; she hugged his arm and kissed his cheek, "I love you," she whispered. "Ahem," she looked over to see Maya giggling at her. Maya had finally changed, she felt bad about what had happened and apologized to Manvi. Virat smirked and pecked her lips, "bye baby," he said caressing her face as Maya just stuck his tounge out, "chi Virat, enough PDA, Manvi chalo na," she said pulling her away. Virat shook his head and drove off. It was now lunch time and Virat was frantically looking for Manvi. They normally had lunch together but today she or Maya were nowhere to be seen. He finally sighed seeing Maya walk in, "Maya where is Manvi," he said worried that she was not with her. Manvi sat there just smiling in the bathroom stall hugging the crying over the limp piece of paper that gave all her happiness back to her. Back to where Virat was, Maya looked at him nervously, "Virat, woh," she started before Manvi came running. "Who kuch bhi nahi, I was just running a little late," she said glaring at Maya. Virat looked at her suspiciously but let it go. Manvi quickly whispered a positive to Maya and unfortunately Maya just screamed out loud, "really!" Virat just stared at them, "what is going on?" he asked confused. Neither one of them answered so he reluctantly let it go. It was now 2 days later and Virat had completely forgotten the incident. Manvi on the other hand was feeling dizzy all day and collapsed on the bed coming home. Virat just stared at her worried, "you ok baby," he said caressing her forehead. She weakly smiled and got up, "yeah a little better now," she said forcing herself to hide this one more day. The day after tomorrow was Virat's birthday and she wanted to tell him then.

Virat left early the next day and had Jeevika make sure Manvi did not come into work. He was too scared about how weak she was last night. Jeevika shook her head coming in, "you are going to tell him finally right," she asked her sister who was smiling to her self. Manvi shook her head and just hugged Jeevika, "Di, I love you, thank you so much," she said. It was months that she had lost hope of happiness and now finally some light was coming back to her. Virat came back home after midnight and collapsed on the bed. He felt Manvi's hands on his head and smiled, "hi baby," he said hugging her stomach. She giggled at the irony. "Happy Birthday Virat," she said cupping his face. He smiled and pulled her closer, "do I get a special gift tonight," he said pointing to his lips. She shook her head, "yes I have a special gift but it's better than that," she said giggling. She handed Virat a small piece of paper but unfortunately Maya ended up calling him and he handed it back to her. Manvi sat there and waited tyring to get his attention but he was just too caught up in his conversation with Maya. Manvi angrily went to sleep confusing Virat completely with her behavior. He smiled seeing her asleep and kissed her forhead, "I love you meri Mannu, I hope Maya's plan works," he said pulling her into his arms. The next day, they left for work as Manvi was doing better. She didn't even care to wish Virat happy birthday because she was so frustrated with the night before. Maya was still working with Virat on some evidence for the case, they didn't want Manvi to know the plan just yet but Manvi completely misinterpreted the situation and left home early without informing Virat.

Jeevika stared at her sister as she slammed the door of her bedroom cyring. "Mannu hua kya, why are you cyring," she asked worried. Manvi explained her doubts and Jeevika shook her head. "mannu, really you are doubting Virat! Wahi Virat that can't stay a minute without you." Manvi glared at her "Di you take your Devar's side, to me he is just a big fat cheat, I want to go back to Rishikesh!," she screamed. Jeevika held her sister and slapped her tight across the face. Jeevika calmed down after a while and some back with some soup for Manvi. "Mannu, can we please talk," she asked guilty that she lost control earlier. Manvi weakly shook her head yes, she was so upset that she didn't even get one single phone call from Virat since she left and she needed to talk to someone about her decision to go back to Rishikesh. Jeevika smiled and kissed her forhead, "Mannu, kahana kha, you need the food now more than ever. She couldn't wait to give him the news, she had made him go through so much, she was so happy that she was able to give something back to him.
