CHapter 18- Broken
PAST
"I love you "
The words echoed in Riya's mind, she was unable to be remove or ignore them. A sense of desperation overtook her as every one of their interactions flashed before her eyes.
She was in the confines of her room but her mind was replaying her every interaction with Arjun. There was something different about their interactions from the beginning and she was ignored them. The look in his eyes, his care, all was flashing through her eyes. Now it made sense but she had ignored it under friendship.
How could I be so blind? Did I not see the way he felt about me?
Thinking about this gave rise another question "How she felt about him and that wasn't something that could be answered easily or she didn't want to question herself "
She remembered the butterflies in her stomach, the current when they touched and the excitement she would feel when she would see him. Their interactions were something she always looked forward to. Those moments with him were so peaceful .It was impossible to ignore that he was someone significant, someone that affected her. Not only his looks affected her like in Shimla but his persona was enough to ignite a fire. She wasn't just a physical attraction but it wasn't love too or was it
"No, I am not in love with him" she thought with gritted teeth. Love had given her enough pain so she had already decided that she would never let that emotion hurt her again. She closed her eyes shut as to get rid of all the chaos but it seemed it wasn't a day for it because her phone rang and the caller id made come out of all her thoughts
"Hello "
"Riya "The voice which could brighten her day now got painful memories. She wanted to shout at him for not talking with her for so many days but gathering all her strength she replied
"Abhi, what happened?"
"We need to meet up?" His voice was more businesslike and she couldn't figure out that was he Abhi only or some else
"Okay" She didn't even understand the reasons she agreed but it came out.
Riya Dutta never forgets anyone. She didn't know what to expect but she couldn't bring herself to forgive him for not trusting her. Forgiving him was difficult because he was the man she loved. In midst everything that had happened she couldnt figure out where she went wrong. She was always herself with everyone and did that go against her ?
PRESENT
Sometimes we throw ourselves in a pool of pain and then lose control over everything. Pain and anger were two extreme emotions but togehter they could destroy anyone and everyone .She had no idea how deep did she go into this whirlpool but was it difficult to return back .What had happened couldn't be undone but she had wanted to let him know how much had he hurt her .He had broken and manipulated her like a doll. She recalled the look of pain on Arjun face and thought that would she ever be able to hurt him. Abhi left scars but Arjun shattered her. Abhi broke her trust but Arjun broke her belief in love .
The very thought of Arjun going away had brought upon such pain that she couldn't handle ,She wanted to shout at him , be angry at him ,love him but all was entangled . Her love was like a poison but she couldn't live it. It was high time to steer the control back in her hands and decide her future. Thus she made up her mind and headed towards the Abhi residence from where it all had ended or from where her Journey to Mrs Arjun Suryakant Rawte had started.
PAST
She walked past the gates, nothing was different there but it was them which had changed .Finally she found him standing in the back garden with his back to her, staring out into the space. It was a place full of sweet memories maybe it will always be.
"Abhi "She called out in a soft voice. A part of her dreading the conversation.
Abhi turned slowly towards her and as usual she could see the pain in his eyes. It would have been easier if they both didn't know each other so well, they could have ignored the pain . But alas that wasn't the case. For a moment she was about to reach out and console him but somehow the space between them was too great
"What do you want, Abhi?" She sighed, tired and weary.
"I am going away" His eyes shifted down, "I am leaving forever. But I wanted to meet you before I leave"
She expected pain and anger but it was numbness that engulfed her .It was confusing and consoling both , at least no more mockery of her emotions would be made now.
"I have loved you since I know what love was but think I could never be what you needed. So in many ways I don't blame you for''for what happened"
Riya felt the numbness seep further in while she heard him continue. She finally understood that he wasn't going to believe her, even if he did love her.
Love had given nothing but emptiness and false promises and what's love without trust. Honesty and Integrity weren't just words for her but it was her principles with which she led her life and Abhi should have known it better. Life is full of surprises how much you try and hold things they fall apart. You might be able to join it back together but the scar is always present
"So'so I wanted to say that I forgive you. Whatever happened between you and Arjun is something I don't intend to know."
You forgive me? She burned inside unable to believe what Abhi had just said
"Riya, I really love you and we can forget everything and make a new start. Come with me to US and let's leave this whole episode behind"
She should have felt angry at his words but to her surprise she felt nothing apart from an empty hollow that was growing inside her. Abhi loved her but not trusted her and wanted to forgive her. She laughed at herself and her situation and the tiny strand that held them together snapped breaking their bond
"Good bye Abhi and all the best "
She didn't wait for his reply, just stood up and started to walk. She could hear Abhi mumbling something about Arjun and her and she knew that she just had confirmed his theories but it didn't matter to her. Nothing now mattered to her know she just wanted to go away
Maybe I can go far away'.far away.
Away from the prying of her office colleagues
Away from the sympathetic eyes of her father
Away from those black orbs that could read her like a book
At that moment she just wished to vanish somewhere where she couldn't be found
Chapter19- The Rebirth
PAST
Arjun was angry and frustrated at the events. Today Riya had to join office after a week's time and there was no sign of her. He had confessed his feelings and gave her the much needed time to let it sunk in but now he was actually getting scared.
Did she and Abhi get back together, what would have transpired between them?
He had no idea of the happenings in her life thanks to all the cases that had kept them busy .The only information he used to get was from Shree who was regularly in touch with her. He silently thanked god that even if he was away there was someone for her. Thus after lot of struggle with himself he decided to go Shree to get some information about her but before that Shree came to him informing that Riya hadn't reached home and she wasn't picking her phone also so he had traced her cell and found out that she was at the beach . Shree wanted to go after her but when Arjun had himself volunteered and he stepped back.
Shree had understood that few things needed to be dealt by these two only . He hadn't missed the love in Arjun eyes and hoped that he could love her best friend the way she deserved to be.
It was already night and the crowds were thinning thus Arjun could reach to the beach in few minutes. He parked his car and ran along to find her .Once he found her hidden beneath the rocks he let out the breath he didn't knew he was holding
Riya was looking for an escape from all the drama in her life and had no idea how had she ended on the beach .Hidden beneath the rocks she hoped maybe here there was no one to judge her. For some reason the only noise of the waves was lulling her into a false sense of security. But the peace didn't last, for she felt a hand on her shoulder. Reluctantly she turned around to meet those black orbs
She saw him clenching her jaw and the tears which had hardly subsided came out again
"Riya Please don't , I cant see you like this"
"I'.I am failure , I couldn't save anything ..I am loser as a friend and as a lover too .I am nothing..but just a failure "
"You are everything Riya ' to me" he died hundred deaths to see her like this but a part of him felt guilty to bring this all n her .For that moment he just wanted to hold her and soothe her and that's what he did.
Once in his arms the tears started pouring without stopping maybe his warmth was what was required to evade the coldness that she was feeling .Arjun had tried to soothe her but it seemed that she wasn't listening to any word of what he was saying and just kept on cursing herself.
Arjun had dreamt of kissing her but nothing couldn't have prepared him for this as it was Perfection. She was everything that he would want and with a groan he pushed her body towards and they fitted like a puzzle.
For Riya it was painful to be in his arms a part of her want to move away and push him away but there was another part of her seeking his warmth and pulling him closer.
It was wrong; she knew that at the back of her mind but now it were just some abstract concepts.
A part of him knew that he should stop what he was doing and it was wrong to take advantage of her while she was in such a vulnerable state. She would regret this later and in turn make him regret it. He should be taking time to win her over instead of taking it this far this quickly. But he had lost the control the minute he touched her and against his will he just listened to his heart and marked her.
He removed her shirt and she shivered not due to the cold breeze but with the intensity with which Arjun was staring at her. She knew that the step she was taking couldn't be undone but she wanted a relief from the pain and thus she let him pull her closer, let him slowly undress her even as he trailed kisses on every inch of the skin that he had uncovered .The only light was the glow from the moon but she could see the love in his eyes as he unbuttoned his shirt. She gasped as she felt him press against her, the skin to skin contact too intimate for her as she had ever experienced before.
She hadn't never gone far with Abhi she thought but as she felt his lips going lower and lower on her stomach all thoughts of him melted away along with any resistance that she could have mustered . Arjun came back to her face and stared her making sure that she knew it was him and only him . Their eyes met and it gave him confidence that they were meant to be . So he took her lips into a kiss that expressed all his love and passion while he breached the final barrier between them.
She felt the pain at the intrusion but then she also knew that he was also tense above her, his body rigid and only concentrating on her pain.
"Are you okay?" Riya looked up at him and saw the concern in the passion filled eyes and could only nod, knowing that she had gone passed a point of no return.
Arjun now could no longer hold back, he pressed his lips to her as he started moving in her and soon the waves of pleasure hit them both .
None had any idea what the morning would bring to them but it was the moment that they both lived in
