Part 5.. sorry for typos

Arnav walked out of the room trying to overcome the blues that had engulfed him last night. The post-dance light heartedness was gone now as he tried to regain what he thought was a more sensible attitude. Today, he had to let go of everything for the sake of Akaash. And Akaash was the person he saw walking down the corridor towards him, "hey Akaash! Big day haan? Ready?" he asked patting Akaash's shoulder. "Yes, bhai. I just hope everything goes fine and Maa accepts Payalji with an open heart." Akaash confided his fear to his brother. "O common don't worry Akassh, it shouldn't matter as long as you know how to stand up for your girl," came a forthright answer from Arnav, "Come let's go eat some breakfast." The sight of Khushi at the dining table came as a surprise, he wasn't ready for her. She sat chatting happily, as usual, with NK, laughing and talking as if she had no care in the world. "Why is the mechanic next door called happyji, it should've been her name!" thought Arnav angrily obviously annoyed at the chumminess between NK and Khushi. Their grins, laughs and hi fives were fast becoming too much to bear. Breathing deeply he tried to control himself, "When I can't then I shouldn't dislike their obvious rapport, it may be good for Khushi if she and NK…." And he couldn't think any further.

Khushi gave a sidelong glance at Arnav, she could feel his agitation and the anger brewing up inside him. "What the… humay kaisay pata chal raha hai!" thought a surprised Khushi. "Namaste jijaji, I came to drop off the shagun. How are you? Excited?" teased Khushi with a sparkle in her eyes. She turned to NK and started off with her plan, "NAnhe ji, since today is the actual Wedding day, and then we won't be able to meet each other so frequently, why don't you tell me your favorite mithai and I will make it for you as a gift. Say what?" said khushi while Arnav could only swear under his breath at the all too sweet chirpiness around him. "Wo Khushi ji I don't like any mithai, but you can make what you like best, that will become my favorite too," said NK with a big smile. "Hey Nanav, how boring it will become if Khushiji stops coming, right?" he continued without waiting for an answer, "Why don't you also tell her your favorite mithai?" Khushi looked at Arnav who had suddenly lost the tensed demeanor and had worried frown. "I wish I could know all that went on in his head!" thought Khushi.

Arnav was caught unaware when he suddenly realized the impact of NK's words. He hadn't considered this situation at all. Once the Wedding functions were over, Khushi won't be coming to the RM and this thought was the most disturbing one. He tried to shrug off the thought and continued to munch on his breakfast while NK walked Khushi to the door to see her off. "Anjali bitiya NK and Khushi look so happy together, I always get sad when I think about Khushi's broken engagement. She has done so much for us, I sometimes wish that I could do something for her, to make her life happy," Nani shared her thoughts with Anjali. "ji Nani. I had some other idea but I can see that I was wrong," sighed Anjali looking at Arnave who appeared totally oblivious of this conversation. He stood up as casually as possible trying to hide the storm that was building inside. "Di, I have a video-conference, I'll be back in an hour or two." Arnav lied yet again and went out to clear his head. Today he could drive fast; he could try and forget everything. However, he was haunted by the image of Khushi and NK laughing together.

"He looked sad and not jealous!" though Khushi chewing on her nails, "I didn't want to hurt him, I wish I could know what has made him like this, I just want to rub off that wound in his heart that made him act like an ogre sometimes, but he is not." Khushi remembered the little girl for who Arnav had bought all the pigeons, she remembered how endearingly he had apologized to his Di at the Mandir, then Nainital. She again wanted to go and hug him to comfort him, what she had looked for in him at the hospital when babuji had the stroke. "Devi maiyaan I don't know what my plan will result in. I know I won't get what I want, if we can just be friends, if I can just make him forget whatever it is that disturbs him for sometime only, I'll do it. I can't just let him be like this, I love him too much now to simply walk away…………." Her train of thought came to sudden stop as her heart went thud thud. "Bibi your stop….." said the auto driver bringing her back to Earth. "Yeees," she said distractedly and got off and started to walk towards her house. "Baji what about the fare?" came a worried question from the auto driver. Khushee turned around and paid him off. "What? What did I just thought of? Hayeee what will I do now?" she continued with her self-questioning and collided with her mother. "Khushi bitiya, watch where you are going!" "ji amma" said Khushi coming back to the real world. "jiji's shadi, jiji's shadi, focus!"

The Guptas had arranged for the Wedding in a nearby ground and it was amazingly decorated, with a very traditional yet a grand look. Arnva couldn't help but approve of and appreciate all the arrangements. No doubt it was Khushi who was behind all this, he knew the family too well to figure this one out. Khushi was the one with the spunk and confidence to do it all without worrying. That girl had this undying faith in life, in her devi maiyaan, that she believed she could do just about anything. He smiled slowly as he thought about her agitation at him taking out the kara from the pool and what followed. And the out of nowhere she appeared, in all her glory taking away his breath. (http://www.dressrepublic.com/store/catalog/women/dr5115.jpg) She was walking towards him, he swallowed as emotions took over his control. She was here now and greeting everyone with her trademark smile. "Hi Arnavji" she said softly instead of the Namaste. "Hi" he managed to answer. He was about to ask her how she was when she turned with a sudden jump and chirped "Nanheee jiii, Namaste, kaisay hain aap? Come let me show you everything and you can add to your video blog." She went away with NK and Arnav felt a pang at his heart as he led Di towards the seats specially reserved for the boy's family.

Leaving NK at the Mandip to make his video, Khushi looked around for him who was finally wearing a very simple yet an amazingly elegant beige sherwani. She had a hard time controlling her dhak dhak when she had first laid eyes on him today. That man managed to look good in whatever he wore. Today he had walked in like a Rajah and had taken away her breath. She hadn't known how to greet him and could just manage a soft Hi, afraid that she may fall as her knees had felt like jelly. Nk saved her because she could walk away with him away from ASR because she didn't know how long she would survive anywhere near him. She finally spotted him listening attentively to his Di and a smile spread over her face. Shukar that snake wasn't here yet, she sighed. She could see her family chatting with the Raizadas when she remembered that she hadn't locked the house. She quickly went to the house and went in to make sure all the rooms were also locked. In her room she stopped and stood rooted when she saw Shayam in there looking at her picture. "You!" she exclaimed, "What are you doing here? How dare you enter our House? Get out of here now!" she growled at SHayam. "Khushi ji app sunye tu… I just came to say sorry for hurting you on sangeet day." He said walking towards her, "I shouldn't have done what I did" and his voice got a lewd tone. "Stop! Or else…." she warned him. "Or else what Khushi ji, Don't you feel anything for me? How can you. You who is so beautiful and mesmerizing, how can you think about me at all!" he continued with his coarse and vulgar talk all the while walking towards her and got hold of her by her waist. A cold shiver went down her spine as shock took hold of her, she remembered how she had been attacked by the goons in Lucknow. She felt frozen as fear swept over her, every fibre in her body shook with fear and disgust. Mustering up all her strength she pushed away Shayam who had the gall to force himself on her. She dialed ASR's number and threatened Shayam to tell him everything if he didn't leave immediately. Shayam knew her enough to know that she will do it and walked away. Khushi felt as if the world had crashed around her. It had been so easy for Shayam to just come and treat her like that. She didn't know what to do, she couldn't move, she couldn't breathe, all she wanted to do was to go and cry in his arms….
