Prologue:
It was nighttime and complete darkness engulfed Gayatrinagar. Even the moon was hiding behind the clouds, afraid to shine some light onto this cursed patch of earth. He rather left this work to the sun.
A sound broke the silence and made the few animals, brave enough to come close to the village, pay close attention.
"Oye guys, hurry up." The boy spoke in a whisper but in the silence around him the others could here him clearly.
"Why Mahesh, afraid that the ghost will eat you?" Ram laughed his usual mean laugh but Mahesh didn't concern himself with the comment. He was afraid alright, he couldn't deny it any longer. The mere thought of having to come here at night was sending shivers down his spine.
Arun and Asha climed down the jeep and started to remove the backpacks from the car.
"Ok, as discussed I will go in with Arun and Mahesh is to hold the light for us. Asha, you stay in the jeep and wait for us to come out. Keep your phone ready just in case." Asha nodded bravely and sat down behind the stairing wheel. She was the best driver amongst her friends and hence had taken up the job to drive them. She pluged in her headphones and listened to some music to keep her entertained till the boys were back.
Meanwhile, Ram and Arun walked through the castle. The were mezmarized by the beauty and started filming their way.
"Right now, I am just taking the video and we will add the comments afterwards. I don't want to miss the natural sounds of the castle" Ram and Mahesh nodded and they walked along. Paintings adored the walls and Arun filmed them all. In his opinion, either the artist had had a great talent or the women living in this castle a long time back were really very beautiful. The finally came to the staircase. The stairs started at the bottom and split halfway through to the left and right side.
"Which way shall we go?" Mahesh asked.
"Hmm, I think if we go right, we will end up facing the side we came from. That means we will be able to see Asha from on of the windows."
"Then let us go there. We can tell her that all is well." They all agreed and started to walk up.
"Guys, don't you feel it is very quiet now?" Mahesh held the torch in his hand very tightly nad kept looking back.
"It is supposed to be quiet, you idiot." Ram shook his head and Arun concentrated on the filming. He thought about Mahesh's words after some time.
"Yeah, even the natural sounds of the castle can't be heard up here. I think we should mention this in the video later on. The architecture of this castle is amazing. I am sure this wasn't planned in but in this way, there is absolute peace and quiet up here." They entered a room and looked around. The furniture was covered with white cloths but still a fair amount of dust had covered the place. The boys covered their noses and opened a window.
"Asha" Ram yelled but he wasn't loud enough.
"I bet she has her headphones on, I'll give her a ring." Before Ram could dial Asha's number, she looked up and spotted the boys. She gestured if all was well up there and the boys replied with thumbs up. Then Arun showed her that they were going along the corridor to the other side and then will come down. Asha nodded and observed them going back in. She adjusted herself in her seat again and was putting her headphones back on when she happened to look into the rear mirror. She looked closer and her eyes widened. She spun around and supressed a scream. Ram, Mahesh and Arun were walking along the corridor, which had airy windows closely next to each other. She saw them walking from left to right but what scared her so much was the fourth person at a distance behind them. She could only make out a shadow but this was for sure not the fragment of her imagination. Without wasting a second, she dialed Ram's number but the ring didn't go through. The same happened when she called Arun and Mahesh. As the last resort, she jumped out of the jeep and ran towards the castle. A few steps before she entered, the doors shut on her face with a loud bang, imprisoning her friends inside. No matter how much she shook the doors, they just didn't budge.
"Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god" Asha didn't know what to say and walked backwards, holding her head with her hands. She ran left and right in order to find another way in but in this darkness, she couldn't see anything. Asha ran back to the jeep and as a last resort, turned the ignition and shone bright light towards the castle. She horned loudly in order to get the attention of her friends. She stopped after some time and perked up her ears. Did she just hear someone scream? No, it was just her fear that made her think like this.
She had no time ot waste and drove towards the nearest houses in order to get help. She didn't know what she had seen or what was going on inside but she had the strong feeling, that they had meddled in matters that they should have left in peace.
