Part ' 1 ' An Unexpected Phone Call
In the first part I was confused actually. I wonder why a Italian girl coming in the picture of Maaneet. And then I thought of continuing my reading process. I found fishy when I in that part.
No. 1 is that, Why should Raj the previous owner have to transfer the property to Annie when he have kids of his siblings, I mean Brij & Pinky. Why is that he have to hand over the property to his Grand niece Annie.
No. 2 is that why the lawyer wasnt happy with Annie's decision to keep the castle to herself. Was he also involved in those tej group? And how was he sure that he can sell off the property that people knew haunted so easily?
I guess I can get answer for these.
For the 1st question: As you know, Brij (and Pinky) are Rano's children and her mother did not want her or her family to have anything to do with the castle as they still remember what happened to Suman...I will copy paste the part where Ferri explains it:
"Brij knew nothing about his sister because she was given away shortly after her birth. No one apart from Mr and Mrs Manchanda and her real mother knew. This leads to the conclusion that Brij and Annie are the only inheritor of this land in the eyes of the rest of the world. Annie was an easy target as she was not aware of being connected to India in such a way."So, Tejeshwar wanted the castle for himself because he knew that there were riches in the castle (rumors from earlier time, you see) and the land was quite valuable. So he had to get rid of every possible inheritor that could get the castle...
Since they all only knw about Brij and Annie, they wanted to get rid of Annie so that Brij could marry Preeti and she would get the castle for her father...
Coming to your 2nd question: Yes, Talwar the lawyer was involved with Tej. He had gotten orderes to get the signature from Annie that she is not interested in the castle. The reason this had to be done was that if Brij was to die, the next of kin would be searched for. And this is Annie, not Preeti.
So, to make sure that Annie is no hindrence, she was told that she was the inheritor of hte castle. What they did not plan was that Annie would keep the castle...
"It was because of your decision to stay back. You see, for a foreigner like you it might be an adventure to live in a haunted castel. An indian would never imagine that you would give up all luxery you had to move to an unknown country and then into a place so old and deserted. They had thought you would easily comply to sell the house and be gone."
About selling the castle...many knew about the history of the place but not everyone. And even if they knew, they did not believe it to be haunted. A good example if Maan's father who wanted to buy the land...
I hope this clarifies your issues... keep posting for further inquiries, I'll be glad to reply...
