Siddhant Riddhima

Riddhima stood frozen in the cool afternoon in the deserted basketball court...Silence pierced her ears as she heard nothing...the past moments she had spent with Siddhant flashed right before her eyes within an instants time

R:
"Divorce..."
Her memory wove an intricate detail of Siddhant's deep voice asking her if she still had loved Armaan or not... Armaan,..how that name meant so much to her once ..and now a burden... How could she tell Siddhant of what she felt when now he also wanted nothing from her
Siddhant watches from behind... a sole silent witness of Riddhima's sorrows... he could not hold her to comfort her..no she wasn't his... he couldn't leave her from his sight...she's imbedded in his mind... Riddhima had him by chains and nails for him no where to go
S:
"Riddhima..."
Her name echoed through the court as it always had in his mind, forever there ...they say sound never dies, it always renders throughout the universe through eternity... so was that of this name.. Riddhima...the only person who'd come by as a breeze into his life and left so many wounds still fresh from each cut that she pierced in him relentlessly, and yet he looked on with a smile
Riddhima's voice quivers from a certain fear, anger and pain all at the same time:
R:
" Siddhant, ...divorce...?"
She even questioned the reality of it now, even with the truth lying in her hands, she still asked him dismayed
S:
" Tumhari azaadi shayad tumhari khushi hai"
Siddhant lied, like he always had, he knew nothing of how to handle the situation of Riddhima's feelings towards him..Armaan or anyone else...he had lied about knowing Armaan's back, him meeting Riddhima at Pune, and everything else.. the only truth in any of this was the biggest one of them all that Riddhima failed to see every time: he loved her
R:
"tumne mujhse yeh sab discuss karna zaroori nahin samjha...? Bas karliya faisla!?!"
Now Riddhima raged with anger more than anytime before...more than when she had loved armaan, more than the fateful day of her seeing Armaan again.. more so because Siddhant had given her life..that was all he'd ever known to do..how could he leave her now
S:
"tumne yeh faisala khud bol diya tha Riddhima, tumhara javaab mujhe milgaya... kayi tareeqe se poocha, seede tarah se na sahi..par tumne kayi javaabon mein mujhe se kehdiya... tum Armaan se abhi tak pyar kati ho... tumhari zindagi mein humara saath yahan tak tha"
Hurt, even saying the truth with his own mouth and hearing it hurt Siddhant more than the thousands of daggers Riddhima had launched at him before their wedding day... that day Riddhima tried to kill herself.. and now today Siddhant's body is living while his heart slowly dies..not of anything Siddhant studied back in Med school..but of a broken heart...no one told him the diagnosis and prognosis of this... if there was any...
R:
"theek hai Siddhant, tumhe meri haar baat se shiqaayat hai na..?! jab meine yeh rishta aage bardhana chaha toh phir tum peeche murdh gaya, aur ab yeh naubat aagayi ke tumko divorce lena zaroori pardh gaya Siddhant...? mein tumhare liye kuch bhi nahin..? jab man chahe haanth tham liya aur jab maan chahe ...... yeh?"
S:
"Armaan..."
R:
" Kal tha mera!! woh guzar gaya! mera aane wala kal tum ho Siddhant , sirf TUM! mein tumhe kaise yaqeen dilaaun ke..mein tumhare saath aage bardhna chahti hoon"
Again she went with this, Siddhant could no longer bear the anger..he wanted it to stop, more for her than himself..he swiftly grabs her tight by the shoulders and pulls her breaths distance near him
S:
"kyun saath dena chahti ho mera Riddhima?! KYUN?! kyunki mein tumhara pati hoon? kyunki humaari shaadi hochuki hai? yah phir apne dad ko saabit karana chahti ho ke tumne unhe dukhi nahin kiya..? iss sab mein tum kya chahti ho, yeh bhi bool gayi! aur tumhara kuch na bolna mujhe pagal kara raha hai ! Tumhari har khamoshi ka lafz mein dhoondta tha! Tum kuch na bol ke sab kuch kehdin..."
SIddhant feels the warmness of tears brimming at his eyes..not knowing if it was from his anger, or from the forever sadness that Riddhima will no longer be his.. it was in that moment he knew that this wasn't something he'd get over in months time, but rather a couple of lifetimes would maybe then ease the pain... but she'd never know..not now not then not ever...
RIddhima always stayed oblivious to SIddhant's feelings, wether it was towards his anger or even his love, she stayed a distance away from him, being a dutiful wife but afraid to come any closer... maybe she might fall in love with Siddhant... maybe... love always drives one mad, she had already felt betrayed before, the second hit she couldn't take..but now that Siddhant was already leaving her..why was she feeling hurt...betrayed..not by him..but by herself... she always thought if she closed herself enough no one could her hurt..all the while forgetting it was she whom she needed protection from..and Siddhant had done just that for her...he had protected her from others and even herself.. even when she didn't want to live he breated life in her again..he showered her with happiness and yet she pushed it away... away, so far away
Siddhant realised how tight hsi grip was getting on Riddhima but she never felt the pain, she only looked into his eyes and saw the millions of words he tired to say
Siddhant releases her from his grip like freeing her from all relations, he knew he wouldn't be able turn back..knowing if he did he wouldn't be albe to leave, forever enslaved in the wait for Riddhima's love

Siddhant Riddhima

Shashank had it with Riddhima's constant crying and Siddhant's lossless looks... he knew both of them didnt' know where they were headed no matter how much they tried to convince him or themselves
Siddhant stood facing Riddhima trying to get a glimpse of any hint that she woudl give him of what her decision really was, but alas she did not look towards him, only hatefully glared out towards wehre her father was standing
Shashank:
sirf saat mahine hum keh rahe hain... mana hai ke tum log saat din nahin nibha paye theek tarah se, par ek doosare ke jaane ke liye saat mahine nahin de sakte ho--
Riddhima:
papa, mei--
Shashank:
nahin beta, humne tumhara faisla dekh liya hai..tum na jeerahi ho aur na hi tum Siddhant
Siddhant:
Sir, woh mein sirf Riddhima ko khush dekhna chahta hoon..
Shashank:
aur tumhe lagta hai, ke talaaq dene se problem solve ho jayega?
Shashank stood sternly staring at Sid
Siddhant lowers his gaze, knowing there wasn't anything for him to say.. in reality he didn't have answers, but only a name for every question, Riddhima..she was his happiness, his truth, his life..and through this tough time, he still loved her..no matter how painful it was for him, the love for her grew in him like some sort of malignant cancer he had treated patients with.. eventually taking over their body so much, killing them... a silent killer she was indeed... unfortunately Riddhima knew nothing of this casualty
Shanshank:
answer me Dr. Modi
Siddhant:
agar Riddhima ki khushi mil jati hai toh.....
once again to answer a question Siddhant didnt have the answers to.. but still, couldn't help himself to speak up.. only to silence the screams of what his heart echoed
Riddhima:
papa please, maine decision le liya hai
Shashank:
haan, aur bohoti accha decision liya hai..
Shashank graps the papers from Riddhima's loose grips and looks through them
Shashank:
main yeh papers apne desk pe rakhta hoon, its my order that you two give each other seven months, then after that...these papers are still on my desk..feel free to pick them up...
Shashank starts to head out of Riddhima's room but turns around one last time to repeat his words
Shashank:
not before seven months....remember that
Shashank leaves the room
Riddhima closes her eyes and she feels the drops of tears falling at such an oh so rapid pace from her eyelashes...
Siddhant paralyzed in her love instinctively wants to hold her..touch her.. do anyting to make the pain go away... but how can he if he's the one hurting her... helplessly he watches
Riddhima slowly opens her eyes hoping it was all a dream and she'd wake up to a beautiful sunshine morning of another grand day...
but no, although tears blurring her vision, she could make out the edges of the man she married, the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with but now is figthing for divorce with... who was this man..
she hardly recognized Siddhant now, how much he's changed. Guilty as charged, she turned him into what he is today, no one else.
Riddhima:
jao yahan se Siddhant
words sank into Siddhant's mind but he could not make any sense of them.. he wanted to just watch Riddhima for the rest of eternity.. a beautiful disaster she was.. engulfing anyone that comes near her into a raging whirlpooll until finally drowning them
Riddhima quickly wiped her tears, went to the door and stood there signaling for Siddhant to leave
Riddhima:
Jao Siddhant! ... please!
Siddhant finally lifted his feet from where they were planted and slowlly walked towards Riddhima
RIddhima's heart beat always had raced whenever Siddhant came near her... knowingly/unknowingly Siddhant had always made her feel nervous.. not so much of the fear sort, but more so as of the intensity of his eyes staring at her..
Siddhant stood inches away from Riddhima and she kept her gaze lowered..resisting the temptation to meet his eyes..
Siddhant:
jaaoun?
Siddhnat took one step closer to Riddhima
she felt confused as to why he was doing this but still with no where to go she pressed herself against the door
Siddhant:
jaaoun, Riddhima?
Riddhima said nothing, again averting her gaze to another inimportant object lying in her room..anything, just anything to avoid looking at him
now Siddhant felt restless, he grasped her arms firmly and pulled her towards himself...
Her lips almost touching his face, she had no other choice but to look up at him, so she did...
Slowly raising her gaze she saw that Siddhant had a certain glaze over his eyes..a certain maddness she once knew about...
Siddhant relieved that she finally did look to him but could see how lifeless she was behind those eyes... she must have cried a thousand nights for those beautiful eyes to be so tired, but yet they still studied his face so carefully
Riddhima finally breaks away from his spell
Riddhima:
Sid-- Siddhant..chhodo mujhe
Siddhant almost wanting to laugh at her for saying this stops from doing so.. she's never understand the humor or the pain that came with that.. leave her?
SIddhant:
chhodo..?? tum mujhe kab ka chhodh gayi ho... toh mera hona ya na hone se tumhe kya farak pardhta hai
Riddhima was almost shocked with the audacity of his questions..first he goes around saying she still lvoes armaan and now these claims?
Riddhima:
tumne mujhe chod diya hai Siddhant... divorce? tumhare haanton se aaya tha.. mere nahin
Siddhant suddenly lets go of Riddhima and pushes her against the wall..freeing her from his grip... he doesn't know why but he all of a sudden felt suffocated from those words.. divorce..wasn't that suppose to set him free.. and Riddhima?... and was she even feeling the least bit hurt by it.. or is she rejoicing the fact that she'll be with Armaan now.. Siddhant looked dazed at Riddhima
Riddhima:
Siddhant, mein yeh sab nahin discuss karna chahti hoon, tum bas please abhi ke liye jao
She didn't want to discuss divorce with him, nor did she want to come back to live with him.. she didn't want to see his face...nor did she want to feel his touch again.. why did they ever meet, Siddhant wondered...why? He held back his tears and walked off into a useless space of selfdenial.. his marriage was failing.. this had no reason.. his heart was broken.. he had no one to blame... and most importantly Riddhima was going further and further away from him.. and he had no way of stopping it
