Abhi froze. Did hear right? Armaan and Rahul?

"Sanjeevani mein?" Nikki exclaimed on the phone.

Abhi was confused. How on earth did Dr. Malik and Dr. Grewal know his wife?

He waited patiently until she hung up the phone.

"Armaan aur Rahul kaun hai?" he asked.

"Meri best friends. Aur lagtha hai, tum unhe jaanthe ho!"

Abhi shrugged. "Yeah? I know them."

"OMG," Nikki jumped. "How do they look? Does Rahul still wear glasses and does Armaan have tattoos and do?" she ranted in top speed.

"RELAX," he said in a louder voice. "Chill? they are not that great!"

Nikki's face dropped. "Matlab?"

"Matlab yeh ki woh Sanjeevani ki 'rebels' ban gaye hai."

"huh?" she asked, even more confused.

"Yeah," Abhi explained. "I had to kick out a senior doctor today and this Armaan was almost threatnening me."

"He CANNOT do that," she said, shocked.

"Well? challenging me really. And Rahul was supporting him. Not the best kind of people and particulary not the people I want in a hospital, which I have to manage!"

"You are being biased," Nikki accused.

"Of course I am not," he said. "Its not like I decided Dr. Keerthi should be kicked out. It was the board's decision and I have to do my job. But those interns want to only believe what they think is right! They are arrogant!"

"Wait," she said. "I think you are mistaken. Armaan and Rahul are not one of those people."

"Well, they are."

"You know what?" Nikki said, now angry at Abhi. "I think this has to do more with the fact that you aren't a good doctor!"

"What?" Abhi asked, outraged.

"Haan," she replied. "You find them arrogant because they don't listen to you. But why would they anyway? All you do as a doctor is kick other doctors out!"

"Wait a second," he said, firing up as well. "You think that I am pissed off at the fact that I can't make them listen?"

Nikki didn't answer, but abhi got the point.

"Thanks for that Ms. Malhotra!" he said, sarcastically. "it tells me how much you understand me! You know its my job to do what I do. Its not like I have a choice. But ofcourse, it make no different to you. You support your friends more than me!"

"I am supporting them," she said,quickly. "I am just saying that they make better doctors than you, and that's why they don't listen to you. They understand what is right and what is wrong!"

"Excuse me?" he said, not believeing his ears. "You think I am not a good doctor?"

She turned away, with attitude.

"Let me remind you," he said. "I finished my internship with the top marks! Infact you were there, weren't you? You saw me go up there and receive my awards!"

"And yet," she said, turning back. "You are not working as a doctor. You move from hospital to hospital, dismissing doctors!"

"So they make better doctors than me now?"

"Anyday!" She then added, "infact even I make a better doctor than you!"

Abhi laughed. "You didn't even finish your internship and you call yourself a doctor!"

"Well you are forgetting," she said, holding up her hand. "That I didn't finish my internship because of YOU!!"

"Joh bhi ho," Abhi said, sitting down relaxedly on the sofa. "You are not a fully certified doctor, in which case you and your friends are not better than me!"

"Teek hai," Nikki said, making up her mind. "Bet?"

Abhi stared at her for a few moments, before saying, "What?"

She smiled intelligently. "Wanna bet that I will make a better doctor AND a better person than you?"

"And how exactly are you going to prove your point?"

"Hire me as an intern in Sanjeevani! And I will bet you right now that those interns will love me and I will graduate with top marks."

"Tum iss baat se bet banana chathi ho?" he asked, seriously.

"Haan," she replied.

"Nikki," he said, getting up and holding her arms. "I don't want some stupid interns to come in between us!"

"Kyun?" she replied, sarcastically. "Daar lag raha hai that you will loose Mr. Modi?"

"Baat yeh nahi hai," he said, ignoring her jib.

"Toh phir?"

"Just drop the matter, Nikki!"

"No," she said, sternly. "Unless you already accepted defeat, I will go to sanjeevani no matter what!"

Abhi sighed.

"I never knew you were such a darpok Abhi!" she teased. "Maine socha you liked challenges, magar lagtha hai, you were making all that up!"

"FINE!" he said, loudly. "I will appoint you as an intern. And then you can decide if I am unreasonable, or if your friends are!"

"You're on," she said, shaking his hand. "Ek aur baat, main wahan Nikita Malhotra banke jaa rahi hoon. Not as Mrs. Abhimanyu Modi. Infact, kissi ko pata bhi nahin chalna chahiye, that I am even related to you. Sweet dreams, my darling hubby. Tomorrow is a big day."

And before he could object, she turned away, hitting his face with her hair. Abhi stood for ten whole minutes, gaping at her, before going to bed himself.
