Justin Timberlake discloses batting Lyme disease; reveals being shocked with diagnosis, 'Massive amount pain…'

Justin Timberlake has disclosed that he has been privately dealing with Lyme disease. The singer shared the news on Instagram as he concluded his two-year Forget Tomorrow tour, providing fans with a candid glimpse into the health issues he encountered offstage.

Timberlake, known for his privacy, shared a lengthy and emotional message where he admitted that he felt it was time to be more open with his fans. “Among other things, I’ve been battling some health issues, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease which I don’t say so you feel bad for me but to shed some light on what I’ve been up against behind the scenes," he wrote.

Timberlake described the illness as "relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically," recalling his initial reaction to the diagnosis. He admitted, "I was shocked for sure," adding, "But at least I could understand why I would be onstage and in a massive amount of nerve pain or, just feeling crazy fatigue or sickness."

In spite of his condition, Timberlake persevered with the tour. He recounted that he had to decide whether to halt the tour or to continue and find a way to manage. Opting for the latter, he stated that the pleasure he derived from performing surpassed the brief physical strain. He expressed gratitude for his decision, emphasizing how the experience tested and demonstrated his mental fortitude.

Timberlake revealed that he had always been taught to keep his struggles private, but he was now choosing to be vulnerable rather than remain silent. “I am trying to be more transparent about my struggles so that they aren’t misinterpreted… I’d like to do my part to help others experiencing this disease too."

Timberlake also expressed his gratitude to his team, band, and fans for their support throughout the tour. "You have made my dreams come true," he said, before reflecting on the magic of live performances: "There really is no way to put into words the feeling of being on a stage… It’s a vibration of frequency that is unmatched. Sacred to me."

Timberlake's Forget Tomorrow tour commenced in April 2024, following the release of his album Everything I Thought It Was. Billboard reports that the tour has earned over $73.2 million from 41 performances.

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by Borrelia burgdorferi, transmitted through infected blacklegged tick bites. Symptoms include a characteristic skin rash, fever, and joint pain. If untreated, it can spread to joints, heart, and nervous system. Diagnosis involves lab tests, and treatment typically includes antibiotics.
