**~The PROPOSAL..~**
It was another stormy night in Pritampura..The thunder light flashing the sky open,and the night sky darker than ever,giving clear signs of the upcoming storm..
The news in radio and television had warned of thunderstorms,and everyone in the village had left for their house,not wanting to bear the brunt of the stormy weather.
Everyone was almost home,and the streets of Pritampura almost empty..Almost but not completely..
As Baldev Singh lay back on the bonnet of his jeep,and watched the play of thunder light and drank wine from a bottle..
His eyes glazy already as a pile of broken glasses lay broken beside his jeep..He was half drunk by now,but still was lucid enough much to his annoyance and frustration..
Taking another long sip from the half empty bottle,he closed his eyes and groaned out his frustration..
He could not take this anymore..
His eyes almost saw blurred when he looked up.but as soon as he closed his eyes,he could see her clearly..
Her burning eyes,her open wild locks,her soft full lips,her beautiful face..
He groaned out loudly again,as another loud thunder rumbled..
He had been trying to drink himself to oblivion these last few days,trying his best to forget her,or to hate her,or to remind himself how much he loathed her..But his heart had started taking control of his mind and body by now..
Oh the agony of it all!How I loathe that girl for doing this to me!He thought taking another long sip from the bottle,and wiped the remnants of wine off his lips,with the back of his hand,as he sat up simultaneously..
His head was spinning now,and his vision was blurred,he thought with satisfaction.
A silly grin came on his lips,as he chuckled to himself..
"Aab kaise satayegi tu mainu?!!Meri pyari Bhootni aab tu iss Sher ki kuch nai bigaar sakti!Main Sher hu Sher!Pritampura da Sher!Mainu kaabu karna itta asaan nai!
[Now how will you disturb me?!!My darling Bhootni now you can't cause any harm to this Lion!I am Lion,a Lion!Priatmpura's Lion!It's not that easy to control me!]He said,and gave another loud chuckle..
He got down from the bonnet of his jeep..Still swaying and stumbling from the effect of the liquer he had just drunk..
He was staggering towards the driving seat of his jeep,when he saw her..
He blinked and cursed loudly at the sight of her once again..
He took a last swig from the bottle in his hand and threw it away..It broke into pieces just like its previous relatives..
He wiped the remnants of wine off his face clumsily and staggered forward..Trying his best to walk as straight as possible..Squinting into the darkness that was only being brightened by flashes of thunder light..
There she could see her walking towards him..He blinked and wiped his eyes,yes she was here..Her beautiful dark thick soft hair open..Her eyes large and staring at him unflinchingly..Her face devoid of makeup as usual,but yet looking ethereal..Her soft lips full and juicy as always..Her walk just as simple yet seductive to him..
Thunder light flashed in the background and she walked towards him in..That was when he knew he was dreaming or to be precise hallucinating..
She was wearing that red Punjabi suit that he had secretly bought for her,but had decided against giving it to her,and hid it away..
Strong wind blew,and her hair and the red dupatta blew in the wind,as if teasing him and beckoning him all at the same time..
She walked close to him,and he stared at her face mesmerized..
Forgetting to hate her..Forgetting to ignore her..The effects of wine suddenly vanishing from his mind and body,as a different feeling took its place..
He knew she was a dream,but tonight he wanted to take his dream to its fulfillment..
Flashes of thunder cracked the sky open,and slowly Baldev walked towards her..His vision suddenly very clear..And she stood still..Just where she had stopped..
Suddenly Baldev walked forward and picked her up in his arms..Ignoring her surprised yelp,and protest..
"Baldev!Ki kar raha hai tu?!Chaddh mainu!Mainu ghar jana hai!Chaddh!
[Baldev!What are you doing?!Let me go!I have to go home!Let go!]"She screamed in vain,making Baldev smirk..
Even in his dream she had to protest and rant,did she?!He chuckled to himself,and dumping her on the passenger seat,he placed his finger on her soft lips..
Instantly she became quiet,her eyes looking into his dark ones,as if reading something there..
Slowly he walked to the driving seat,and got the jeep moving..
Once in a while he turned sideways to check that she had not vanished just yet,and everytime he saw her he sighed out in relief..He had to..
Thunder sound came closer as he drove on..
Finally he screeched the car to a halt..
His eyes took in the surroundings with satisfaction..This was where it had happened,,This was were he had wanted to bring her in reality..But now he had returned here with her in his dream..
He turned to look at her,and watched the confusion on her face,as she studied the surrounding..
Another chuckle escaped his lips,and this time his Sherni turned to look at him with an annoyed frown..
He did not like it at all!
"Don't frown at me!"He snapped out,again taking her by surprise.
Slowly he got down and reached her side..He held out his hand to her,asking her to get down..She was not taking it..
Baldev grunted out in anger,and before she could protest in his dream again,and break it,he picked her up in his arms again..
She did protest,adding to his annoyance,but the dangerous warning glint in is eys somehow shocked her to stillness as he carried her there..
It was that place..The place he had realized what she meant to him,but had never accepted it till now..
But tonight in his dream,he just had to..
He placed her down,and looked around..Everything was just picture perfect..The rippling river water..The rose bushes..The mango trees.The soft green grasses..The fragrance of fresh jasmine from a nearby bush..
It was all there..But..He stared up at the sky with a frown..The moonlight should have been here..But today he would make do with thunder light,as she did not come in his dream so clearly everyday..
He turned back to face her..She was not there!He looked all around,she had vanished again!He nearly howled out in pain and frustration,when out of nowhere her red dupatta fell on his face..Drowning him in her fragrance..
He slowly pulled it off his face,and then saw her standing a few feet away,staring at him with wide eyes.
Slowly he walked towards her,and she walked backwards..
Finally she stopped when she could not move back any further due to a thick tree trunk..
Baldev came closer to her,and gently draped the dupatta round her,his intense eyes looking into hers all the while..
Some more thunder light,and Baldev suddenly pulled her up against his body,his hands curving round her waist and shoulder as he did so..
He moved his face close to hers,studying her each feature with pleasure,as if hat was the true meaning and reason of his life..
"Veera..?Aur kinni tarpayegi mainu tu?Aur kinni raato ki neend churayegi..?
[Veera..?How much more will you torture me?How many more nights' sleep will you destroy..?]"He whispered huskily..
His hand pulled her closer,up against his chest,so that he could almost hear her thudding heart..Her heart was beating as if in tune with his own..His eyes glazed with the realization..
Flashes of thunder highlighted her beautiful face for him.The same face that now haunted him..He raised one hand and caressed her soft cheek..
He smiled to himself in wonder..His blood sang out at the touch even in his dream..And he could feel her soft smooth warm skin as if she was truly standing within his arms..
A soft chuckle escaped his lips..How he wished she was for real..
He lowered his head and rested it against his imaginary Veera's forehead,looking deeply into her beautiful hypnotizing brown eyes..
"Tainu pata hai main kinni dino se tarap raha hu?Kinni dino se sirf tu hi tu mainu har jaga dikhti hai..Har jaga har wakhat sirf teri awaaz gunji hai meri kano pe..Teri ek jhalak dekhne ko aankhein taras jai hai..Aur dekhu to tujhe apne saath rakhne ka man karta hai..Mainu aur kinnin tarpayegi tu..Meri Veera..?
[Do you know for how long I am suffering?For how long I am see you everywhere..Everywhere every time only your sound echoes in my ears..I get desperate to see a glimpse of you..And if I see you I feel like keeping you with myself..How much more will you make me suffer..My Veera..?]"
His hand curved tighter round her waist,and he noticed her gasp softly..His heart quickened at that..
The sound of thunder was getting really loud now..
"Veera..Mainu to tu pagal kar diya hai..Apni pyaar mein..Mainu -..Mainu pyaar ho gaya hai tujhse Veera.."For the first time he said the words he felt lighter..Suddenly he felt something heavy had lifted from his heart..
As if in accordance with his raging emotion,with a loud thunder,the sky broke loose..Soaking them both to their skin in heavy downpour..
"Mainu tujhse pyaar ho gaya hai Veera!PYAAR!!!"He yelled out with happiness looking up at the heavens and relishing the outburst of his emotions..
Veera should shocked still at his words..Her heart squeezing with an unknown emotion..
Rain soaked her through the skin..
She was returning fron Gunjan didi's house,uncomfortable in the red suit,which she had to wear,as her top had suddenly gotten torn by accident..
But then a visibly drunk Baldev,had literally kidnapped her to this strange place,and now..And now he was proposing her..
Veera did not know what she was feeling..But whatever she felt,she did not hate him anymore,that was for sure..Something lighted up within her just then..The feeling that she had been trying to kill,finally got lighted..
Without thinking Veera did something she had never done in her life..
She pulled him by the collar and bought his face closer..
"Sach mein pyaar karti hai tu mainu?
[Do you really love me?]"She whispered close to his lips,as water dripped down both their faces,their nose almost touching.
His eyes now shone with a burning heat,and slowly he nodded his head in agreement..
Her eyes moved to his lips,and then looked back into his eyes..
"Sabit kar sakti hai?
[Can you prove?]"She whispered softly,her eyes now reflecting the heat in his..
He did not reply or respond..
A few seconds of silence followed as he studied her beautiful face,and suddenly he knew this was not a dream..She was real..The moment was real..The proposal was real..
Before she could blink one more time,he crushed her body to his as his lips swooped down on hers..His warm lips tasting her sweetness along with rainwater..He sucked and licked at her soft lips,deriving his happiness from there..
Her hands curved round his neck,her fingers caressing his hair,making him harden in response,and he kissed her with all the love and hunger bursting in his heart..
His joy knowing no bounds as she kissed him back..Her soft lips moving hesitantly on his first,and then more confidently as he groaned out his pleasure against her mouth..
His tongue duelled with hers,as his teeth softly nibbled at the juiciness of her lips making her moan out against his mouth,and making him shudder in response..
His hand round his waist tightened and he kissed her deeper and longer with increased ardour and passion,and she returned his kisses with the same intensity..
Finally an eternity later,he stared down at her,,both out of breath,as rain and thunder went on raging around them..
"Shaadi karegi mainu?
[Will you marry me?]"He whispered huskily..
Veera blushed at the question,but slowly nodded in agreement,as in her heart she knew,that they were meant for each other..The Sher and Sherni of Pritampura..
He groaned out his happiness,as his lips claimed her swollen lips again,marking her as his for good..Kissing each other endlessly in the heavy pouring thunderstorm..The thunder sound vanishing to background in the fireworks of their raw explosive emotions for each other..
The PROPOSAL of Pritampura's Sher to Pritampura's Sherni had been given and accepted..So it was time to celebrate..
