~*~In The Heat Of The Night..~*~

Part-1.

The whole area was lighted up with beautiful lights,and beautiful flowers adorned every corner of the hallroom..

The crowd of people gathered were all busy laughing and enjoying the food,as loud music blared in the background..

It was the mehdi ceremony of Kammo,one of Veera's childhood friend from the nearby village..

Veera was here with Baldev and Karan..

Ranvi had to leave with Balwant for town regarding the electricity problem,so Ranvi,to Veera's surprise had requested Baldev to accompany her..

And to Baldev's utter irritation Veera had forcefully brought Karan to the party too..

Sighing Baldev stood at a corner..He was badly missing his friends Balli and Jaggi today..And he did not know why he had agreed to keep Ranvi's request..

After all the great Karan was here to take care of Veera..!He thought with irritation once again..And who would even harm her..She looked normal in her jeans and tops even today..Baldev had expected her to dress up today,but no..She had not to his disappointment..So she looked normal in her usual attire..

Well not really that normal..A voice tried to correct him...

Recently she was having a strange effect on him,ever since he had seen her in that Punjabi suit..

Baldev searched the crowd,trying to see if he could find where she was now..

"Yaar Baldev!Look at that girl!Have you seen anyone so stunning..?"The familiar voice of Karan made him turn sideways..

"Kiski baat kar raha hai tu..?

[Who are you talking about..?]"Baldev tried to follow the direction he was looking at..

There were lots of girls gathered at a corner,and all of them more or less were looking the same to him..

"Yaar kaunsi wali..

[Yaar which one..]"He asked squinting his eyes..

Suddenly a number of guys standing nearby wolf whistled,as Karan grinned and pointed at the girl..

"Come on yaar see?These guys also noticed her..Look the one in that purple lehenga,I wonder how will she look if she.."

Baldev turned and this time he saw her..

A slim curvaceous figure in a purple lehenga had her long dark hair half tied at the crown and decorated with beads..She was dressed just like any girl in the party,but yet there was something different about her..

Suddenly he felt he really wanted to see her face..Baldev walked towards her..Unmindful of all and everything..His entire being suddenly concentrated on her..

Just when he was behind her,she whirled around..Baldev closed his eyes as her dark open locks swept across his face,drowning him in a strangely familiar and beautiful fragrance..

On opening his eyes he thought he had lost her,when he noticed she was kneeling on the ground and searching for something..

Finally after a few minutes,she looked up,tying a long jhumka on her ear..Holding his breath,he was getting ready to see her face,when out of nowhere a strong breeze blew in,covering her face from his view again by her open hair..

"Hai o Rabba!"She exclaimed out softly,as she removed long locks of beautiful dark soft hair off her face..

Baldev forgot to breathe as he stared at her face,mesmerized once again by her beauty..The rosy soft lips,the dark kajal rimmed eyes,and the slightly pinkish tinged cheekbones,started to make his heart thud loudly again..

How could someone look so ethereal..?!He could not help but think..

He was about to breathe in,when she suddenly slipped and was about to fall..With thudding heart he stepped forward to catch her..

But before he could do so,another pair of male arms captured her in his..

Baldev stood shocked still,as Veera smiled gratefully up at a grinning Karan..

"So you turned into a princess tonight did you Veera..?"He chuckled softly,and made her stand up straight..

The faint blush on Veera's cheek did not escape Baldev's eyes,and nor did it escape his notice that Karan was still holding onto her hand..

Rage..Undeniable,raw,endless rage started seeping through his body as he saw them standing so close..

Baldev's eyes moved to Veera's face,and he could clearly see the glow on her face,as she looked up and smiled at Karan..

Something lighted up within him..deep,raw and intense pain started clawing at his insides on seeing her smile like that at him..

She never smiled at Him the same way..!The thought crossed his mind,as he clenched his hand into tight fists ready to..

He was just about to barge in,when some of Veera's friends pulled Karan and her into the dance floor..

Baldev again moved to a corner,and watched with a dark angry face,how happily she danced bhangra with Karan..

Searing hatred passed through his vein..Suddenly he was loathing the very same guy he called his friend..But he did not care..He just did not care at that moment..

Baldev suddenly wanted something strong to drink,and as if fate was with him he saw a waiter carrying some glasses of wine..He grabbed a glass of wine..He needed to wash away his bitterness and anger..

This was all a brand new feeling for him..He did not know why he was not liking it,but he just did..

He took two more long swigs from the glass,and wiped off the remnant of liquids from his lips,carelessly with the back of his hand..

His burning dark eyes were glued to the dance floor,where Veera continued dancing with Karan,as if that was the only thing to do in the entire world..

Karan suddenly grabbed her hand,and pulled her close..Baldev's hand tightened on the glass he was holding..

Veera laughed out,and Karan's one hand moved to her waist..Baldev's hand crushed the glass he was holding,breaking down into tiny shards..

Drops of blood had started to drip from his cut,but the pain never reached him,as he was lost in a different sort of pain..

He took in a long shattered breath,and straightened his kurta ready to walk ahead..

"Veera!Tainu chune ka haq sirf mainu hai..!Sirf aur sirf mainu..!!!

[Veera!The right to touch you is only mine!Only and only mine..!!!]"He gritted out through clenched teeth..His eyes now glittering with determination..His stance that of a man ready for battle and completely determined to win it..

Inhaling a long breath,Baldev strode towards her..
