A Twisted Tale part 10

Shabad was looking handsome as always. To their surprise he wasn't wearing any business suit but was dressed up very casually. His sparkling green eyes were enough for any girl to get lost into them.

Shabad: Welcome, Mr Raghav Singhania. I'm Shabad Mehra, chairman, LKM enterprises.

Raghav: hello, Mr Mehra, nice to meet you.

They both shook hands in business manners

Shabad: heard about your accident, how are you feeling now?

Raghav: I'm doing absolutely fine, thank you.

Shabad: (with his evergreen impish smile) wasn't expecting to see you so soon Kalpana. Not that I mind of course, I'm glad you could make it to come here.

Kalpi was more shocked than surprised.

Kalpi: nice to meat you Mr Mehra (extends hand to shake hands)

Shabad: (being chivalry) pleasure is all mine maa'm.

Raghav was also surprised with this conversation. A wave of insecurity filled in him.. He saw Shabad holding her hand for a little longer than for usual hands shake. Kalpi notiing this pulled out her hand with a jerk.

Raghav's POV: how the hell theses two know each other. And since when he started calling her with her first name (frowning)

Shabad: you two must be tired... Sara will take you to your rooms. I'll catch you guys later.

Raghav: thank you so much.

Shabad reached the door to leave but turned back to look at Kalpi.

Shabad: (smilingly) feel at home.

Saying this he left. Sara showed them their rooms which were adjacent to each other.

Sara: feel free to call me if you need anything. (she left)

Raghav was still giving Kalpi a questioning look.

Raghav: (in serious tone) I think I deserve an explanation!

Kalpi: (nervously)I forgot to tell you.

Raghav: How can you forget something important like this (getting angry)

Kalpi: I have met him only once,, actually twice. He visited our office one day.

Raghav: when????

Kalpi: the night when I stayed at your place. Even I told you about him.

Kalpi had uttered those words in a very low tone as she recalled what had happened that night.

Raghav: wait a minute. He is the "annoying man" you were talking about? And you are telling me this nowww

Kalpi: How am I supposed to tell you when you were busy humiliating me all the time (sarcastically)

Raghav: Haaa!!! I was fighting with you?? Talk for yourself. It's your hobby not mine and please don't throw the bull on me (raising his voice a little)

Kalpi: okkk, what is the big deal if he already knows me... He and I are completely good with it.

She went into her room and closed the door behind her. Raghav was standing alone in the corridor.

Raghav: (talking to himself) why I feel I'm not going to like this man very much.

Kalpi's POV: I would never understand this man. Kab kahan kaise kya karta hai kuch nahi keh sakte!!! Ufff I should take a shoer and cool off my mind.

Few minutes later

Raghav was going through the details and realised that the file is with kalpana. He called her but she didn't take his call. So, he decided to go to her rrom and collect it by himself.

Meanwhile, Sara was knocking at Kalpi's door, but when she didn't open Sara used the master key to enter.

She was carrying a bouquet which she placed on the side table and left the room.

When Raghav came he saw the door open and went inside. Just then Kalpi came out from the bathroom and saw Raghav standing there in her room. Raghav could not his eyes off her. Her wet hairs, her fresh face, her lips. He got lost in her beautiful charcoal black eyes. Kalpi thwas feeling awkward. She coughed a little to break the trance. Raghav immediately turned to look away.

Kalpi: What are you doing here, without my permission? You know what you are doing is called evesdropping and that doesn't suit you Sir (with anger and embarrassment).

Raghav: I'm sorry I came to take the file and the door was open...

He cut his words short when he saw the bouquet on the table. Kalpi too noticed it now. When Kalpi saw those questioning looks, she could not stop herself for expaling things to him.

Kalpi: I have no idea, who sent those flowers.

Raghav goes towards the bouqet and read the card saying, "I would love to show you around after dinner J"--- Shabad

Raghav was trying to control his anger.

Raghav: (raising eyebrows) you have no idea???????

Kalpi: It wasn't here before; someone might have left it when I was in the shower.

Kalpi came near him to take the card from his hand but slipped making Raghav fall along wither her. Kalpi was over Raghav with her eyes closed her hairs covering Raghav's face. Raghav was lost in her beauty. Kalpi slowly opened her eyes just to look into Raghav's dreamy eyes. She smelled like Lavander and strawberries. Their proximity wasn't making her uncomfortable. They could easily hear others heart pounding very fast. Suddenly Raghav's voice broke the moment

Raghav: It's not that I mind this position Miss Kalpana but can you please get off me... you are heavy (sarcastically)

Kalpi: (very embarrassed and frowning) don't think I'm happy to experience you like this... and I'm not heavy (smacking in his chest with a force)!!!

Raghav: (acting hurt) ooouch!! And you also have a dhai kilo ka hath.

Raghav and Kalpi (scowling now) got up from the floor.

Kalpi: I'm sorr... (Raghav cuts her words off)

Raghav: You are not going with him... alright. (more of a command than question)

Kalpi: You don't tell me what to do.

Raghav: You are not going Kalpiii... Kalpana.

Kalpi: Why not???

Raghav: He is a bad boy.

Kalpi: (sarcastically) haaa and you are not!

Raghav: ...(pausing for a moment...) what can I do, you seem to have excelled in bringing out the worst in me (chuckling)

Kalpi: (now losing her temper) don't you boss me alright. Earlier, I wasn't planning to go, but seeing that how desperately you don't want me to go, I'm freaking going!

Raghav: I'm not here to listen to you bak bak. So, just give me the file.

Angry she gave away the file and Raghav left the room.

Rest of the day passed in peace. Both of them stayed in their rooms but kept thinking about each other.

Kalpi's POV: Unbelievable Kalpi!!! Mr Akdoo is getting more arrogant day by day... help me deva. He thinks I'm a fool to go out with a man I hardy know. It's none of his business!! Really Kalpi if it's none of his business then why were you giving explanation to him for the bouquet, he didn't even ask you about it at first. Then you were so lost in his eyes... urrrgh he makes me go crazy.

Raghav's POV: Geee Raghav... What is wrong with me... It was only flowers... yeeeah but red flowers!!! So what??? I should have not reacted like that. How can she think of going with a man whom she knows only from one or two meetings but why the hell it's affecting me the most? Why I lose my control when she is around, Gosssh I'll go nuts.

At the dinner table

Shabad, Kalpi and Raghav were having dinner. Everyone was wearing casuals.

Shabad: (passing a bottle to Kalpi) you should try this sauce, it's amazing.

Kalpi: ohh thank you.

She was about to put it in her plate but suddenly Raghav stopped her.

Raghav: I think it has sesame seeds.

Kalpi: ohhh!!

Shabad: any problem?

Kalpi: yeah. I'm allergic to sesame seeds.

Shabad: I'm really sorry.

Kalpi: It's ok, you didn't know.

Raghav: So Mr Mehra, when are you planning to start with the project?

Shabad: I beg your pardon Raghav, but no business at the dinner table please. We might bore the pretty lady (referring to Kalpi)

Raghav: You may not forget she is the one associated with this project.

Shabad: how can I, you have the best lady working for you. Btw I'm so impressed with your excellent taste in choosing your employees.

Raghav: (reluctantly) thank you Mr Mehra.

Kalpi was noticing the tension between the two guys.

Kalpi: So Mr Mehra, tell us about you?

Shabad: ohhh please Kalpana I told you to call me Shabad. Whenever you call Mr Mehra I keep looking around for a sixty years old man.

Kalpi: (could not help but smile) Alright Shabad.

Shabad: well... I'm a lawyer by profession and later joined my dad in the business. You know the advantage of being rich and spoilt.

Kalpi: Actually I don't.

Shabad & Kalpi was busy laughing but Raghav's face turned red so he excused himself for a moment.

Raghv's POV: This guy is really something. How can she call him Shabad. And Kalpi is laughing with her as if he is best friend from childhood. Control your anger Raghav, It's none of your business.

Meanwhile,

Shabad: Kalpana, your boyfriend is a very angry young man. He reminds me of my Dad (chuckled)

Kalpi: (blushing now) he is not my boyfriend Shabad.

Shabad: yeah yeah if you say so. But trust me if looks could kill I would have died a thousand times by now (teasing)

Kalpi: you are so funny (laughing)

Raghav joined them back at the dinner table.

Raghav: (curiously) what were you two discussing about?

Shabad: (immediately) nothing serious, I was just telling her if she ever decides to leave you, sahe can join me (gave his impish smirk)

Raghav & Kalpi looked at Shabad with eyes wide open.

Shabad: I mean If she ever decides to leave your company... she can join mine anytime.

Kalpi: well I'm not planning anything like that.

Raghav: hmmm... thought so (smiling for winning over Shabad)

Shabad: waise Kalpana ko mazil tak pahunchne k liye Shabad ki hi jarurat hoti hai (he said while thinking of something)

Raghav: (frowning) It's all philosophical & not practical.

Kalpi: but a good philosophy though (smiles at Shabad) Thre are so many practical things which have come from philosophy itself.

Raghav: (sarcastically) and you know everything about it.

Kalpi: Not everything but surely a few

Raghav: you are kidding me right

Kalpi only shrugged her shoulders

Shabad: (shows excitement to annoy Raghav) sounds interesting; I would love to know about it, Kalpana.

Kalpi: ummm (thinking of something) it's like. Accordsing to many philosophers, In a healthy man there exist four elements of humour. But in some people one or the element is more promrnt that it disturbs the functioning of other elements which results into an emotionally imbalanced person. And this theory is also scientifically proved.

Shabad: (sheepishly looking at Raghav) well I know one such person now.

Seeing that Raghav was getting uncomfortable, she signalled Shabad to stop irritating him.

Kalpi: You should not judge a person until you know him well Shabad (in a defensive tone)

Raghav felt really happy to hear this. He looked into Kalpi eyes, Kalpi just blinked her eyes as if assuring him that she doesn't think that about him.

Shabad: wooohop!! Tell me does he also pay you for defending him (in hushed voice)

Kalpi gave him another tough look.

Shabad: ok ok (raising his hand), with all due respect can you please forgive me Raghav, just got carried away with the moment (genuinely)

Raghav: How can I not, when you are asking so politely (throwing a smile)

Shabad: please carry on Kalpana it's more fun than I thought.

Kalpi: other such thing is that a person whom you remember or call first during some trouble is the closest one to your heart.

Raghav: this is all bull, no such things happen in real life.. you are ju...

He was interrupted by Shabad, who was giving Kalpi awww expressions

Shabad: your boyfriend is lucky guy (teasing her)

Kalpi: (fell short of words) I don't have boyfriend

Raghav raised his eyebrows to this.

Kalpi: I don't have a boyfriend

Shabad: (acting excited) really!!!! What a shame that a pretty & intelligent girl like you is still single?

Shabad: what about you Raghav???

Raghav: (rolling his eyes) I don't have time for all this.

Shabad: of course, how can you two meet the match of your life when you are busy with each other all the time (mischievously)

Raghav & Kalpi almost swallowed an air listening that.

Raghav's POV: This man is getting on my nerves now.

Raghav: (composing himself) how about your girlfriend Shabad?

Shabad felt silent for a moment but the very next moment chids again.

Shabad: I don't believe in such things. But yeah... I have a all in one woman in my life, Mrs Sara

Raghav & Kalpi were looking at Shabad surprisingly

Shabad: she takes care of me, my office and my house (smilingly)

Kalpi: you can't believe there is no such thing like true love.

Shabad: too your disappointment, yes i believe so, it never worked for me.

Raghav & Kalpi noticed an unspoken pain in his eyes.

Shabad: I think it was a very long dinner and I enjoyed the company even though someone was thinking of killing me all the time (chuckling to Raghav)

This time Raghav & Kalpi both started laughing with Shabad.

Shabad: you guys take some rest... we will meet tomorrow. Good night.

Raghav & Kalpi: good night.

Shabad was going towards his room but turned to say something.

Shabad: I hope it would work for you two.

Saying this he left the dining area. Raghav & Kalpi was trying to contemplate his words. Sara who was standing beside them spoke.

Sara: thank you so much. I saw him talking like this after a long time.

Raghav: that's surprising; I thought he always has a lot to talk about.

Sara: that's just a way to hide away his pain.

Sara left afterwards and Raghav & Kalpi was moving towards their rooms.

Kalpi: you know he was just pulling your legs.

Raghav: well, I know it now.

They both gave a nod of understanding and bid good night to each other. The night was dark and quiet but a suspicious shadow was moving around the farm house.
