A Twisted Tale part 8

Kapli didn't know when she fall asleep. She wasn't in right state of mind to understand Raghav's behaviour, she was restless and hurt. On the other side, Raghav's condition was no different. He went to bed feeling guilty and cursing himself.

Next Morning

Kalpi heard a quick knock on the door.

Kalpi: (frustratingly), yesss

She heard Sammy's voice

Sammy: Are you up?

Kalpi: ohhh yes come in.

Sammy: (while entering) hey sleepy head. Were you dreaming about me (teasing her)

Kalpi didn't answer. Flashbacks from the last night were running into her mind.

Sammy: get up, we are waiting for you at the breakfast table. (he left)

Kalpi's POV: I can't go out or face... can I (questioning herself)???? (But another voice in her head said, really Kalpi, how can you hate a person who was trying to help you. You know he had no wrong intentions, other than that you work for him). Was that the way to help me??... i can't forgive him for that. I just hate him, I'll resign today itself. Now, it's time to go out and face the music.

Sammy & Raghav was already at the breakfast table. She took a seat beside Sammy and right in front of Raghav. She noticed a wound around his hand thinking what might have happened. Gathering all his strength look at Kalpi who in return gave him a look of hatred. He was hurt. He didn't say anything but kept looking down st his plate.

Kalpi: (trying to act normal) When did you come back Sammy?

Sammy: ummm two hours ago, when you two were sleeping like a log (smiles). After a long time I saw Raghav sleeping till late what did you do Kalpi (teasingly)

Kalpi looked at her Raghav who was also looking at her now, She didn't reply.

Raghav: (in low tone) we were working late last night

Sammy: Even I'm feeling sleepy yaar. Hope you won't mind if I joins office after lunch?

Raghav nodded.

Raghav: (without looking at her) Kalpi, If you want you can take a day off today.

Kalpi: I don't a favour.

Sammy noticed the bitterness in her voice & realised the awkwardness between them.

Kalpi: I should be going now.

Sammy: You want me to drop you? We should not a pretty lady go out alone (trying to lighten the moment)

A sweet smile flashed on her lips.

Kalpi: I must be looking like a ghost right now (sarcastically)

Raghav: (muttered) not anyway near.

Kalpi had heard Raghav muttering those words but decided to ignore him completely.

Sammy: so we'll see you in the office (waving hand)

Kalpi: I don't know.

Raghav & Sammy saw her leaving the place.

Sammy: So what exactly have you done this time Mr Raghav Singhania??????

Raghav: (sighing) long story!

Sammy: then stop ignoring, talk to her and clarify things.

Raghav: (feeling sad) You won't understand Sammy. It's more than complicated this time. Even I can't forgive myself... It's good that she stays away from me... pause... chal I have to get ready for office.

Sammy: al right, catch you later.

Kalpi's home

Kalpi's POV: What does he think of himself... I'll show him that he cannot treat me like that... I was right about him he is arrogant, pompous and and a so called angry young with attitude no problem...

She went inside while thinking.

Kamla: Tu aa gayi Kalpi beta, dekh main tera favourite gajar ka halwa bana rahi hoon. Tu jaldi se fresh ho ja.

Kalpi: (retorted) I can't believe this aai tujhe meri pasand yyad hai, mujhe to laga tere pass mere liye time hi nahi hai.

Kamala was taken aback by Kalpi's question.

Kalpi's POV: I have no idea where those words have come from. I'm actually questioning Aai. Is this what Raghav was talking about... urrrgh don't think about him Kalpi, not after what had happened last night.

Kamla: Mujhe pata hai beta tujhe kya pasand hai kya nahin. Tu bahut thak gayi hai na tu jakr rest kr main tujhe apne hathon se khilungi.

Kalpi could not believe her ears but was alilttle happy.

Kalpi: aai mujhe office jana hai, I'm already late (turned to move away)

Kamla: Raghav baba ka phone aaya tha Kalpi, unhone mujhe kl raat k bare mein bataya.

Hearing this Kalpi stopped in her tracks

Kalpi: (gulping) what did he say??

Kamla: He said, you were working till late night so you can come late to office today.

Kalpi: (heaved a sigh of relief) Okay aai.

Kalpi was thinking about every word Raghav had spoken last night. "If you can confront me then why not you mother", "tell her how left alone you feel because of her behaviour". Tell her, confront her, these words were giving her a headache now. She tries to brush those thoughts but failed.

Kalpi, she heard Kamla saying. Kalpi turns to face her.

Kamla: ye le garam garam gajar ka halwa, tujhe apne hathon se khilaungi (smiles). (while feeding her) tujhe pata hai beta, I'm really proud of you. Bas hamesha aise hi ache se kaam karna.

She saw Kalpi's eyes getting moist.

Kamla: Kya hua Kalpi, tu theek to hai na.

Kalpi: kuch nahin aai bas sir me thoda dard hai.

Kamla: (in concerned voice) arey to batana chahiye than a bata,,, chal tere sir daba deti hoon.

Kamla started giving her a head massage. She told her how much she missed her yesterday when they all were playing games and so on. After so many years, she felt so relax because Kamla as there with her. Kamla kept on telling her different things while Kalpi was working. Kalpi didn't realise when she fell asleep. Kamla kissed her on forehead and let her sleep.

Raghav's Office

Raghav's POV: It's already 12:30, and why isn't she here yet. I know she now hates me but she should come to office at least. Hope she is fine. Shoulsd i call her... no ways... how can I face her.

Raghav thought of something and then called Pakhi in.

Pakhi: (giving a long smile) yes sir, anything you want??

Raghav: (seriously) I want all the audit details of Sexena group.

Pakhi: (now hesitatingly) but sir that file is with Kalpi & she has not yet arrived.

Raghav: I don't know how you do it, I want the details anyhow.

Pakhi: (Pouting) give me a sec, I'll call Kalpi.

Before, she could make a call Kalpi entered the office. Pakhi rushed towards her and whispered something to Kalpi

Pakhi: Thank god you are here. Tune mujhe bacha liya. Sir wants the audit details of Sexena's. (Saying this she left the cabin)

Kalpi: You will get the file in a moment sir' (stressing on the word)

Raghav was still not looking at her. He could feel the coldness in her voice which is now killing him. Just then Sammy entered the room. He saw Kalpi standing there.

Sammy: you heard about tomorrow's meeting.

Raghav: Yes. We'll be leaving for Lonavala in the morning.

Sammy: (to Kalpi) we'll pick you up from chawl.

Kalpi: (shocking ) me??? Why?? What will I do there?

Sammy: weren't you the one who presented the idea & made the draft.

Kalpi could only give a nod.

Sammy: and if you have any problem with your eyes, let me tell you that I don't look like you (sarcastically). So be ready to go. It will be a 3-4 days trip.

Raghav: (raising eyebrow) trip??? We are going for work.

Sammy: Ufff... you know what Raghav you are such a bore. And Kalpi I'll message you the time of leaving.

Raghav's POV: Hope everything turns out well.

A Twisted Tale Part 9

Kalpi was waiting outside her house for Raghav and Sammy to arrive.

Kalpi's POV: I gave myself all the possible reasons to hate that Raghav but I failed miserably. Why???? Well that's still a mystry! So, the best thing here is to ignore him... and concentrate on your work Kalpi. Don't behave like a abla nari before to satisfy his ego...

Raghav's stopped car in front of her. Sammy wasn't with him. Just then she got a text from Sammy saying, "I can't come. Please take care of Raghav."

Reading her thoughts he said,

Raghav: (without looking at her) Sammy won't be coming with us. Some situation cropped up so he had to stay back.

Kalpi: (acting normal) ohhh, hope it's nothing serious

Raghav: (surprised with her behaviour) ummm... no, he'll handle.

Raghav: put our stuff in the back.

(Kalpi complied)

Raghav: let me help you.

Kalpi: No,,, I'll do it. It's the world of equality after all.

Nobody spoke a word after that. Kalpi kept looking outside the window but didn't look towards Raghav, not to once! Raghav was driving silently.

Sammy's office

Sammy's POV: I hope everything settles down between Raghav and Kalpi. They need to spend something together and that's why I backed off at the very last moment. I'm sorry Raghav, I want to see you happy, and for that you need to wipe out all fears of losing your loved ones.

Sammy, he heard Pakhii's voice.

Sammy: hey Pakhi how are you??

Pakhi: (in hurry) hey, I was looking for Raghav. Do you know where he is??

Sammy: (acting hurt) oouch!!! I thought you are looking for me.

Pakhi: haaa keep dreaming.

Sammy: but dreams do come true... btw Raghav is not here, He & Kalpi are going to Lonavala.

Pakhi: (Surprised) Raghav went with Kalpi?????

Sammy: yeah, for signing the deal with LKM enterprises.

Pakhi tensed up a little and Sammy noticed that.

Sammy: any problem Pakhi, you look tensed?

Pakhi: No, I'm not feeling well... can I go home?

Sammy: (a little concerned) sure... just take care.

Paying no head to Sammy's words she stormed out of the cabin in anger.

Sammy's POV: What is her problem? She has been acting very weird lately. Something is definitely not the way it looks like.

Pakhi was driving home fuming with anger.

Pakkhi's POV: What the hell. I was going to ask him out for dinner tonight and all I could find is his empty cabin. He went to Lonavala with Kalpi and I didn't know this. I'm in this office for him only and he is always busy with Kalpi (hitting her hand on the steering wheel)

She entered Kapoor Mansion and saw Prem coming towards her.

Prem: What are you doing here, aren't you supposed to be at Raghav's office (sarcastically)?

Pakhi gave me don't mess with me kind a look.

Prem: someone is really in a foul mood. So, tell me little sister what happened... did you get kicked out of you office????

Pakhi: (Frustratingly) I'm not feeling well and Raghav and Kalpi has gone to Lonavala. (she went to her room)

Prem: So, Raghav & Kalpi has gone to Lonavala. How much fun it would be if they never come back... aliveee (evil smirk).

Prem: (instruct someone on phone) It's time to complete your work... they are in Lonavala...

Meanwhile, In the car

Raghav's POV: This was what I wanted, her to stay away from you. Now when it's happening why I don't like it. She should say something at least.

Raghav: please close the window Kalpi, it's getting cold here.

Kalpi: Kalpana, that's my name (in a cold tone)

Without saying another word she closed the window.

Raghav: won't you say anything (trying to make a conversation)

Kalpi: ohhh why not (sarcastically) would you mind stopping this my-car-my-choice kind a music... I wanna sleep (still avoiding any eye contact)

Raghav: If you wanna ignore me then why did you agree on coming with me at the very first place.

Kalpi: (furiously) I agreed on coming with Sammy not you. Plus Sammy told me to go with you so that your precious reputation remains unsullied.

Raghav: (angrily now) In that case you can get down right here, I can manage things of my own...

Kalpi: (in same tone) Thank you so much for saying it yourself... even I was thinking of the same. Now stop the car (she ordered).

Raghav kept on driving without considering her words.

Kalpi: stop the car or i'll jump.

Raghav: okkk now, you have decided to threaten me, sorry it's not working because I'm not stopping.

Kalpi: That's it I'm done with your humiliation.

As she reached for the door's handle she heard the sharp click of the electronic lock being engaged.

Kalpi: (turns towards Raghav) you didn't just lock the door??? I said stop the car. I'm not going anywhere with you.

Raghav: Don't think that I'm gonna take your orders so don't push me and sit quietly. We are going to Lonavala!

Kalpi with her eyes closed was trying to control her anger.

Kalpi: fine, just don't behave that you know me!!

Nobody spoke anything thereafter. They were still a few hours away from their destination. Suddenly, the car stopped with a jerk. They gave each other a suspicious look.

Kalpi: please don't tell me it is what I'm thinking?

Raghav without answering her tried to start the car again & again but it didn't budge.

Kalpi: (frustatingly), greattt, what best could have happened other than this!!!!!!

Raghav: urrrgh, You talk too much. Let me think of something.

Raghav got out of the car Kalpi followed him.

Raghav's POV: looking at his phone no networkkk!! There is no service station around and because it's not a very regular road, only a few vehicles will pass on that too in one or two hours. So the only option is to walk towards the main road and ask for a lift there.

Kalpi: Kya kare ab, any idea????

Raghav: yeaaah i've a brilliant idea,,,, take your stuff out we might have to walk (sarcastically)

Raghav & Kalpi had been walking for last 45 minutes, but they can't see any vahicle on the road. Kalpi was feeling tired so she decided to rest for a while.

Kalpi's POV: Kahan phans gayi kalpi tu,,, It's all your fault Sammy, na tum mujhe txt krk iss Akdo k saath aane ko kehte, na main aati na yahan fansti. Hey Deva please help karo.

Raghav: (shouted from a distance) Kya hua Miss Kalpana, feeling tired??? Should I order some energy drinks for you. (Sarcastically)

Kalpi: (in don't mess with me kind a look) you don't have to be sarcastic. I can't walk as fast as you can. Plus my bag is heavy (pouting)

Raghav: Welcome to the world of equality (sarcastically)... woooho don't expecting me to carry you in my arms all the way to Lonavala (smirks)

Kalpi: (mocking him) haaa, how can I expect that... I know you are no superman from another planet.

Just then Raghav noticed a car coming in their direction. He signaled for a lift and the car stopped just before him. He saw two beautiful girls inside. They were checking him out from top to bottom.

One girl: hey handsome (flirtingly)!!! Any trouble?

Raghav: (getting a bit apprehensive) actually my car broke down.

Another girl (who was driving): we would love to help in any way we can. We will drop u whereva you wanna go and I'm sure you would love our company (giving him some lustful looks)

Raghav's POV: this is not going right Raghav... agar apni izzat bachani hai na then there is no way you are going with these girlsss.

Kalpi, who was noticing all this from a distance, now had come near him.

Raghav: Actually, I'm with someone (referring towards Kalpi).

One girl: ohhh... your girlfriend.

Raghav: ummm... yeah. And I don't think she would happy to join you two.

Kalpi: What happened????

Other girl: (with a little disappointment) was just asking if he needs some help???? (looking at Kalpi) you really have a very hot boyfriend.

Kalpi noticed girls giving Raghav weird looks. Understanding the situation she said.

Kalpi: that is so nice of you, but we are going in different direction.

Other girl: that's bad (filtious tone)... but if you switch your mind our offer is still on (living a lustful grin)

Before Raghav could say something

Kalpi said, "Thnx, but we think we'll find some other way out."

Giving Raghav & Kalpi a last long look, the girls drove away.

Kalpi was trying to keep herself from laughing. Raghav who was standing there silently, said: I thought you wanted a lift????

Kalpi: (without facing him & matching his tone) I thought they were checking you out

Raghav: (sheepishly) well, I wasn't minding that.

Kalpi spat and spun around, only to jump back in surprise to find Raghav directly behind her.

Kalpi: ... geee... I' just saved you from those... ummm(searching for words)... tramps and here, instead of thanking me you are giving me your so called annoying attitude!!! why you guys have to behave like a jerk all the time (in mock anger).

Raghav: (smirks) well, we can't help it we are born like that.

They were still busy arguing when another car stopped beside them. They saw an elderly couple inside the car.

Lady: (looking at them) need any help?

Kalpi: we are heading Lonavala... our car broke down... can you please give us a lift.

Man: of course, join in. We are also going the same way.

Raghav & Kalpi: (politely) thank you so much

Raghav held the door open for Kalpi: After you maa'm (sarcastically)

Kalpi gave him a fake smile... If looks could kill, Raghav would have been dead by now.

They sat quietly in the car. The elderly man introduced themselves as Mr Pranav and Poonam Bhargav.

Lady: I was just wondering, why a pretty couple like you was fighting you in the middle of the road???

Kalpi & Raghav looked at each other as if deciding on what to say.

Kalpi: (uncomfortably) no... it's not what you are thinking.

Man: you don't have to answer this. (tuns to her wife) you are getting personal Poonam.

Poonam: I'm sorry, didn't want to make you uncomfortable.

Raghav: It's ok.

Poonam: So, since how long you two have been together???

The question took Raghav & Kalpi of guard. But this time Raghav replied.

Raghav: It's been almost two...

Poonam: (excitedly) Twooo years.

Raghav: no, two months.

Poonam: hmmm fresh love. I must say you two compliment each other.

Kalpi: yes two months only but it feels like two years (sarcastically)

Now, this time Raghav gave her a killing look.

Pranav: hmmm that's love my dear. Btw we are going for work what about you Raghav?

Raghav: Some business.

Pranav: here, being a senior, let me give you a piece of advise, In your business, don't forget to spend some quality time with your girl (winks)

Kalpi: (suppressing her smile) that would be of some help sir. For extremely successful and intelligent bussunesman, he really is an obtuse when it comes to woman.

Everone except Raghav started laughing.

Raghav's POV: You surly have to pay for doing this Kalpi... You wanna play, then let me show you who is the champion her.

Raghav: (puts his arm around her shoulder) comm'on sweetheart, you never complain about this before (acting hurt). But since you have now, I will make up for all the time.

Kalpi could not find her voice to speak further. It was the time when she thought she would lose her mind.

Raghav: Idon't want you to catch cold baby. Raghav tilted toward her only to close the window of her side.

With a quick reflex Kalpi jerked back with but not much because of Raghav's arm around her shoulders. They were so close to each other in that position. Just one more move or he might end up kissing her. For a moment raghav thought his heart has stop beating, Raghav gulped this weired though and settled back into his original position.

Poonam: awww, you two are really adorable (almost teasing)

Kalpi was really embarrassed realising that their helps were watching them all this time. Raghav & Kalpi started looking other way from their respective windows.

Kalpi's POV: Deva ye Lonavala kab aayega. It's too much excitement for a day. Ab bas bahut ho gaya.

All the way Pranva & poonam kept telling them about various places they must visit together in Lonavala. They got out of the car near a farm house. Pranav told Raghav the direction toeards the farm house.

Pranav shook hands with Raghav saying good luck & whispered something to him. Raghav could only give a smile with a slight nod.

Kalpi: (raising an eyebrow) what did he say??

Raghav: that was only for me to know (grinning).

In the car

Poonam: (curiously) What did you say to him so secretly?????

Pranav: Just told him not to let her go away.

Poonam & Pranav smiled to each other and drove off.

Raghav & Kalpi were standing outside the Farm house. A lady, in her late thirties wearing a business suit, greeted them.

Lady: welcome sir, you must be Mr Raghav Singhnia. I'm Sara.

Raghav & Kalpi shake hands with her.

Sara: please come in. Mr Shabad Mehra is waiting for you.

As soon as Kalpi heard that name she felt a little dizzy.

Kalpi's POV: Shabad Mehra!!! How you forget him Kalpi. Ab kya hoga, hey deva bas tu mujhe bacha lena.

Raghav saw kalpi joing hands in prayer so came near her.

Raghav: He is just a businessman. Even though we have never met before, I am sure he is not a monster. So relax and come with me.

Raghav entered the house and Kalpi followed her. Before she could think of anything else, she saw Shabad standing before them with an impish smile on his face.
