A Twisted Tale part 12

Raghav heard Kalpi shouting his name. Without thinking Raghav ran in the direction of the voice, to his horror he saw Kalpi struggling against a big man (a goon)... Raghav was boiling in anger. He pulled the man away and started knocking him down without stopping. Shabad too arrived there.

Raghav: (to Shabad in anger) will you fight my case if I kill this son of a bitch.

Shabad: with all my pleasure. And I'll try not to lose my first case.

Raghav stopped hitting the guy and looked in the direction of Shabad. He shook his head in (tum kabhi nahi sudhroge kinda) way. Shabad told Raghav to take care of Kalpi and took the game in his hands.

Shabad: Mr ummm... son of a bitch... it's time to pay for your dirty deeds (punching him hard).

Goon: you will not be able to save her again

Raghav: I will. (punching him in the nose) this one's from Kalpi

Shabad: Take her away, I'll handle this creep till the police come.
Raghav: (kneeling beside Kapli) No...No...Don't you DARE close your eyes...

Kalpi started struggling unconsciously
Raghav: (trying to hold her) Kalpi...its ok...it's me...
Kalpi opened her eyes slightly and hugged him tight... She only could utter a few words.

Kalpi: (breaking voice)aaa...pp theee..k ho na!

Raghav realised that she was drunk.
Raghav: Are you hurt Kalpi.

Kalpi: (very slowly) my leg hurts.

Raghav lifted her in his arms without giving her a chance to protest and walked towards her room... Raghav tucked Kalpi into bed carefully. She was still unconscious.

A few minutes later

Shabad was discussing the matter with Raghav.

Shabad: That guy is a professional; somebody must have hired him to do the killing.

Raghav: (sighing) hmmm. It's my entire fault.

Shabad: Don't blame yourself. You saved her life.

Raghav: (getting angry on him) I could have been more carful knowing the fact that someone is trying to kill her.

Shabad: (surprised) what you mean.

Raghav: Someone had tried to kill her before also but he failed, this must be the same man.

Shabad: I think she was...

Raghav: drugged. (angrily) I want that bloody man behind the bars forever.

Shabad: (angry too) don't worry Raghav, he is finished now. No body can trespass my security to hurt my friends and get away with that. We will find out who is the man behind all this. You stay here with her; Call me if you need anything.

Raghav: Sure.

Shabad was about to close the door but turned back

Shabad: Raghav, she is gonna be fine, alright

Raghav: Thanx... thnx for being with me.

Shabad only smiled and left the room.

Raghav called up Sammy and told him everything. Sammy just told him to take care of both and come back to Mumbai soon. He sat beside Kalpi's head thinking of what had happened and what worst might have happened. He felt a fear of losing Kalpi. She winced a bit may be in pain. He could see the marks of struggle and cuts in her arms and hands. He picked up a first aid box and started cleaning her wounds. Kalpi shrugged a little and held his arm. He saw her sleeping in peace. I'm sorry Kalpi that you had to bear all this (saying this he kissed on her wounds). The whole night he was sitting there holding her hand thinking of her words, "the person whom you remember or call first during some trouble is the closest one to your heart."

Raghav's POV: She did call my name.. didn't she or I am just assuming it. May be I'm thinking otherwise. She was terrified at that moment. Agar use kuch ho jata to.. no I can never let anything happen to her. It's better if she stays away from me... I can't lose her.

In the morning

Raghav woke up just after the sun was clearly up. Kalpi was still sleeping calmly. She was still holding his hand. When he tried to free his hand, Kalpi opened her eyes slowly and looks at him smilingly. Raghav heart started pounding on seeing her smiling face.

Raghav: Good morning

Kalpi: (she looked up to him with a smile and closed her eyes again) Good morning (and put her arm around him and moved a li'l closer)

For a moment Raghav got iced up. He was warm, and this close she could smell the spicy citrus of his his cologne. He could feel Kalpi breathing into his chest. If he didn't know that she was drunk, he would have thought she was trying to seduce him.

Raghav: (again) Kalpi

This time Kalpi woke up with a jump and realising their proximity, slowly started to move away..

Kalpi: (holding her head) I'm sorry Raghav. Ohhh it feels like my mouth is really dry and someone had hit my head with thousand rods.

Raghav: Hangover

Kalpi: huh?????

Raghav: This is called hangover. You need to sober up. (chuckled)

Raghav offred her glass of water and medicine.

Kalpi's POV: what the hell he just found out i have a headache and now he is laughing at me? What a complete heartless jerk this wanna-be- boss of mine is.

She tried remembering what happened last night but all she remembered was the party, drink and a big man.

Raghav: You really have a tight grip. See (showing marks on his wrist)

Kalpi: (embarrassed) sorry and thanks for saving me again. Hope I didn't do something stupid to humiliate myself.

Raghav: well I carried you in my arms to this room and later you were kinda... (paused)

Kalpi: kinda what???

Raghav: ummm... you're kinda seducing me (suppressing his smile)

Kalpi looked at him with mouth open and eyes wide and before she could utter a word Raghav turned towards her.

Raghav: you dimwit, do that seducing thing again and I don't know if I can control myself... (spoke after taking some time) just kidding ok!

Then he stated laughing and Kalpi gave a shy smile as well.

Kalpi: Last night, I was just sitting there alone. Someone offered me a drink, and my head started spinning. I was going to my room when he dragged me into a dark room... (tears were rolling down her cheeks)

Raghav: don't, don't do this yourself. It's all his fault and he have to pay for every pain he has given you (angry). Please don't cry (he was wiping teras off her face)

Suddenly Kalpi hugged Raghav tightly with her eyes closed.

Kalpi: (in terrifying voice) I was so afraid when he said he would keep me alive unless he kills you.

Raghav: Nothing happened,, I'm alright and you are safe okkk (brushing her hairs to calm her down)

Raghav's POV: It was my fault. I should have never left you alone. I can't even tell how sorry I'm for all this.

He broke the hug.

Kalpi: (like reading his mind) it wasn't your fault. You cannot be with me all the time.

Raghav: (after taking a pause) Sara is bringing breakfast up here...

Just then Sara entered the room with breakfast.

Sara: how are you feeling Kalpana??

Kalpi: much better thank you.

Sara: enjoy the meal (she left)

Kalpi: (to Raghav) won't you eat?

Raghav: I'll eat later...

Just then Shabad interrupted their conversation

Shabad: hey sleepy head, what's wrong you look pale (teasing a bit)

Raghav: (gives Shabad don't start with me kind-a look)... No!!

Shabad: you know everybody was so worried about you, especially Raghav, he didn't even sleep.

Kalpi looked at Raghav and then to Shabad

Kalpi: Thank you, but you should have taken rest Raghav.

Shabad: (gruffly) you are so slow Kalpana. Enjoy the breakfast. (he left still smiling)

Kalpi's POV: what's happening here. Am I really so slow to figure things out?

Her hands were hurting, so she could not eat properly. Raghav seeing this took the bowl in his hand and started feeding her. Kalpi could not believe her eyes.

Raghav: what u looking at... Eat now!

Raghav made her finished everything, and Kalpi kept looking at him with lovely expression the whole time. After that Raghav told her to get ready as they had to leave for Mumbai in a while. Kalpi gave a nod. Before leaving the room Raghav turned back toward Kalpi.

Raghav: (commanding) do not, I repeat do not,,,, ever drink when I'm not around, get that!

He left the room but Kalpi, who was still contemplating what he had just said, didn't move a bit.

They were ready to leave and Shabad was talking to Kalpi before seeing them off. As Raghav started his car, he saw Kalpi running down the stairs. He immediately got out of the car, and walked towards her.

Raghav: (his angrer evident) would you give that leg of yours a little rest?

Kalpi: (walking past him) well... I wouldn't have run if you had just waited for me.

Raghav: haaa!!! Someone is back in the form (sacrcastically)

Kalpi: (faking a smile) haha!!! Let's go now.

Raghav smiled and drove away.

Kalpi: Where are we going... this is a no route to Mumbai?

Raghav: Since, you were so excited to see places around the city that day... I'm talking you for sightseeing.

Kalpi: (exciting) wowww... that's so thoughtful of you.

Raghav: I'm always like that, only you have the habit of always misjudging me (in a serious tone).

They visted many places and the last point they visted was Karla Caves. Raghav was making every effort to make her feel good. He went away to bring some water and bumped into a holy man, who looked at him and then towards Kalpi.

Holy man: Don't fight with destiny... this girl (pointing towards Kalpi) will make a family for you.

The man left before Raghav could ask anything else. Raghav came back where Kalpi was sitting and offere her some water. He was still lost in the man's words.

Kalpi: what are you thinking?

Raghav: ummm i was thinking that we should go now.

Kalpi: yeah right... lets go.

Raghav's POV: whatever it was, she has to stay away from me. I have always been alone I will always be.
