A twisted Tale part 11

It was a beautiful morning. Raghav was getting ready to go for a walk. He saw Kalpi standing on the basketball court in the backyard. She was dribbling the ball slowly while thinking of something. Raghav just smiled seeing her.

Raghav: that is not how it works, need some help with that?

Kalpi: (holding ball in her hands) you are saying as if you a champion of this game.

Raghav: you got me right Kalpi. And I can show you how it's done.

Kalpi noticed that Raghav called her Kalpi again, but instead of saying anything she only smiled.

Kalpi: okk, let's see how good you are at teaching people (sarcastically)

Raghav: lets se then.

He took the basketball from Kalpi and started telling her different angle to take a shot. He showed her several styles of dribbling and passing. Kalpi was listening to him innocently like a good student.

Raghav: Now, let's see how much have you picked up. (throwing ball towards Kalpi) comm'on take the position.

Kalpi took her position to take the shot but Raghav interrupted her.

Raghav: make the grip tighter and elevate it a little from the eye level.

Kalpi: (complying) like this.

Raghav: Not exactly... wait a sec

He goes behind Kalpi and placed his hands on hers. Kalpi's body was suddenly heating up with this closeness and Raghav was just trying to remain calm by focussing on the shott. He was adjusting the level and angle for her when they both heard Shabad coughing. They turned around to look at him.

Shabad: sorry to interrupt but, you know what... you will never make it to the basket this way' (teasingly forcing on the words)

Kalpi's face tuned red in embarrassment; while Raghav gave Shabad don't try to act smart kind-a look.

Raghav's POV: (getting annoyed) Great! Just Great! I can imagine hows my day gonna be.

Shabad: btw when your... uuhhh (clearing his throt) what you call it... ohh right... when your practice session got over, please join me at the breakfast table.

After shabad left the court, Kalpi & Raghav was avoiding any eyecontacts. But composing himself, Raghav turned to Kalpi.

Raghav: I think we should go now.

Kalpi: (looking at him) Yeah... this much teaching is enough for a day. She threw the ball up towards her back and scored a basket without looking at it. Raghav looked at her wide eyes open but Kalpi only gave a slight shrug.

Raghav: So, I'm not the only champion here (chuckling)

Kalpi: (in hushed voice) I guess not.

Kalpi left the court, Raghav was still standing there. He hit his head with hand and then smiled thinking of how she made a fool out of him.

In her room Kalpi was struggling between heart and brain and giving herself reasons to overcome her dilemma.

Kalpi's POV: What was you doing Kalpi... how can you like being near around him. Your proximity didn't bother you a bit. You know how close you two were and still you didn't push him away. I can't help it. Sometimes I lose my control when he is around. And yes the proximity didn't bother me because I feel comfortable with him.

Shabad and Raghav met each other at the breakfast table. They were wearing formals now.

They shook hands...measuring each other up...Raghav looked at him...He didn't understand why...but he felt a little insecure... Shabad noticed the insecurity in Raghav's eyes...and couldn't help smiling...

Shabad: hey Raghav (throwing a wicked smile to Raghav)... how was your morning?

Raghav: (sarcastically) can it be good after seeing your face?

Shabad: (acting hurt) ooouch!! Don't worry your girlfriend is there to help you out.

Raghav: (annoyed) listen to me very carefully Mr Mehra, Kalpana is not my girlfriend.

Shabad: (with mock surprise) who said anything about Kalpana, I was talking about your girlfriend. Oh... Ohhh...(with an expression of realisation dawning upon him) Kal..pana ... lage raho Romeo

Raghav was frowning now he wanted to say something but stopped when saw Kalpi coming towards them. She was looking beautiful in formals also.

Kalpi: (smiling) hello everyone.

Shabad: aap aaye bahar aayi (sweetly)

Raghav glared him in anger.

Kalpi: (shot up her eyebrows) stay out of trouble Shabad.

Shabad: you know I never realised this...but you don't look bad when you smile...I personally like you the best when you are really angry though...

Kalpi: Do you?...I must remember never to get angry then... (smiles again)

During rest of the breakfast, Shabad briefed them about their schedule for the day.

Shabad: My business associates will be joining us here in some time. So we will meet around 11 in the meeting hall.

With that they all dispersed to their respective rooms. They met again at 11. The meeting went all great and the deal was signed between the said companies. At the end of the meeting, Shabad announced a party in the farm house the same evening.

In evening/the party time

Everybody was enjoying the party. Raghav was just waiting for Kalpi, who hasn't arrived yet.

Raghav's POV: why this girl is always late for the party. I should go and bring her down.

Kalpi's room

She was struggling with the knot of her blouse.

Kalpi's POV: No matter how much I like this Saree, it's always difficult to tie this not. I'm already late but can't go just like na... I wish someone was here to help me.

Just then Raghav barged in... actually barged in!!! Kalpi turned around in shock to face him. Raghav got freeze looking her in blue and silver saree.

Kalpi: (embarrassed but little angry) don't you ever knock, someone might be changing?

Raghav: (without taking her eyes off her) don't you ever lock if you are changing???

Kalpi: get out!! I'm busy.

Raghav: you are not busy, you are late.

Saying this he moved closer to her. Kalpi jumped back in surprise but was standing with her back towards dressing table. Raghav closed the gap between them and then raised both arms to hug her. Kalpi hesitatingly closed her eyes as her body stiffened by this closeness. Raghav only smiled and tied the knot without touching her skin. He could feel her breathing heavily.

Raghav: (wishpered in her ear husky voice) It's done. Shall we go now?

Kalpi opened her eyes and saw Raghav moving away from her.

Kalpi: (shyly) thank you

Raghav: (Smilingly makes a way for her to walk) Ab chalen?

Kalpi: hmmm (nods)

With that they both joined the party. Shabad introduced them to his friends and other clients. After a while, Kalpi got engaged with other female guests. Raghav was still admiring her beauty. Shabad noticed everything.

Shabad: Now you can't take your eyes off her even for a single moment haan?(with wicked smile)

Raghav: nothing like that.

Shabad: since how long you two have known each other?

Raghav: (remembering their childhood) ummm since childhood.

Shabad: wooo man!! Childhood love haan (teasing)

Raghav: (really annoyed) for the last time... one more word and everybody here will be mourning your death. I told you it's nothing like that.

Shabad: (in serious tone) Don't do this Raghav!

Raghav: (spat) do what???

Shabad: this!! Don't behave like a man who is so scared of going after something, he really wants. This penny wise, pound foolish attitude will ruin something beautiful between you & Kalpana.

Raghav: (thinking) why everyone keeps telling me this?

Shabad: (smirking) because you don't listen! Please give it a thought.

He left Raghav alone thinking.

Raghav's POV: ufff this guy always plays with my mind, he is right though I need to clear my mind.

It was about sometime after 12, most of the guests had left. Raghav looked around for Kalpi but didn't see her. He asked Sara, if Kalpi is in her room but she replied in negative. A voice inside his head was telling him that something is not right. He checked every room but could not find her. He was getting really worried now. He told Shabad about it.

Raghav: (worried) Shabad, Kalpi is missing?? I have checked every place every room but she is not here.

Shabad was also tensed now.

Shabad: look for her again; I'll wrap up the party.

Shabad requested all the guests to leave as the party was over. Then he also started searching for Kalpi.

Raghav's POV: where are you Kalpi, I hope you are alright. We have searched the house inside out still no sign of her. Your phone is here but the hell is you.

Suddenly, he realised something and started going down the basement. This was his last hope.
