What was so funny about it, again?

It wasn't like Shravan didn't like it when she laughed or giggled, for a change, but there is always a moment for it. And now wasn't it. But of course with his Sumo there is never an appropriate moment for just about anything!

Shravan thought with slight exasperation as his wife was still giggling away.

He looked down at his wife and cocked an eyebrow in question. Suman's face was flushed with amusement as she opened her eyes and met his gaze.

"You are kissing me!" Suman said with mirth twinkling in her big brown orbs. Shravan just gave her a look.

Yeah right, Shravan thought sarcastically. Expect Sumo to state the most glaringly obvious thing in the most ridiculous way. But he still failed to understand what his wife found so funny about this. And by just stating the obvious, she was confusing him further and keeping him from staking his claim after 11 years, 3 months and 20 days!

"I am not kissing you, per se, rather I was in the process of kissing you, Sumo Madam." Shravan rolled his eyes.

"But do tell me what you found so funny about the fact that your own husband is kissing you after confessing his love that made you break in to impromptu giggles just before your first kiss?"

Instead of getting a crisp retort, Shravan was rewarded, surprisingly, with a fresh set of giggles that tugged at the corners of his lips and spread a delicious warmth in his chest. If he didn't know better, then he would have thought that his wife was definitely drunk. But he really needed to know and now!

"Sumo...jaldi bolo naa!"

"Ruko-toh...S-Shra...van!" Sumo said between her giggles. she took a couple of breaths and looked back up at him. What she said next left Shravan to gape at her and her ludicrous musings.

This woman...

"Shravan tum mujhe kiss kar rahe the, I mean karne wale the par tum bhul gaye? Hum toh pehle best friends haina aur bachpan se tumhe aise hi maana hai toh abhi tumhe, I mean hum dono ko aise dekh ke, you know mujhe thoda odd laga matlab not in a bad way, par thoda funny lagraha hai...tumhe nahi lag raha? Funny I mean..., mei toh ab bhi ankh band karti hun toh tumhara chotta version yaad aaraha hai, Chashmish Shravan...hehehe...and look what I'm wearing...pagal lag rahi hoon mei...aur tum toh muuhhh-"

Shravan suddenly bent down and captured her lips to stop her rants. Given their inexperience in the field of physical intimacy, their first kiss wasn't bad, at all. He felt his wife's breath hitch and then she responded, tentatively. He could feel a strange tingling in his body down to his toes and guessed Sumo too might have felt the same. He drew back after the brief but intense kiss and gazed at the woman in front of him.

Suman's eyes were wide and dazed and her cheeks were tinted with red and Shravan thought she looked absolutely adorable.

"Lalloo..." Shravan breathed.

Standing there, in the center of the room, holding his love in his arms, they had shared their first kiss, as a man and a woman, as a husband and a wife, staking his claim.

Finally after 11 years, 3 months and 20 days, he had made his best-friend his wife, in the center of the room.
