I have nothing to add but still wanted to steal space to comment here to show my appreciation 😉 😆
actually I was a part of an organising team of gender equality project during my university days...we went to some rural place and town areas to create aweness on domestic violence and gender equality...we realized that almost 70%-75% of the attendees/participants were male though we were targetting women and couples

Thanks Niruba.

Your inputs go ahead to prove that it will indeed take an herculean effort to change things.

It takes a lot of courage to tolerate than to shout out and protest.
Then why can't we choose the easier option?
When there is a Malala...only 15 year old girl, who never fear to voice her rights...Why can't we too? At least we can try to try...

Am saying all these..But I myself am not sure whether I am able enough to stand for my rights or to stand against the wrong!
I guess that's a huge drawback, we say, we discuss, we write but we don't do!

Naina...Am so proud of you darling! What a masterpiece!👏
Gale lag ja soniye🤗

THanks Feri. I am sure, there are a lot of things that will stop a opinion from being hard. But, it's like "that is what we gotta leave behind, that is what we need to change."😊 It's voicing out your opinion even in house-hold things rather than staying silent.

N yes, I'd like to alter Naina's question:- When will Sooraj find his Sandhya?

We girls are so smart nowadays. When we think about life partner what we demand - His high qualification/ bungalow/ car/ sound financial background so that we can spend our life comfortably.

All n All I'm trying to convey here is that if you seek for a Sooraj than you've to become a Sandhya as well in every aspect.😊.

N I'm proud of both of you daarling.. JhappiyaPale.🤗. 🤗.🤗. I badly need to warm up myself..😆..

Agree with you Ami. Indeed, every girl must be in the first place be as integral as Sandhya.

But in my first post, I never even saw Sooraj as a man, I was just symbolically representing Sandhya as "every woman out there" and Sooraj as "her right, her dream, her safety and respect and her right to lead a life of her choice."😊

aur haan jhapiyaPale😊😊🤗

@ Naina, thank you for your appreciation, but I would like to add that it is not our class of people which needs to change. Most of us already are in the realm of liberal thought . It is the vast majority of 70% or so of our population living in villages and semi rural areas which has to develop an acceptability of the modern Indian woman. We in IF or our social circles are fairly modern in our thinking. We need not move to the other side as we are already there. We have to make this 70% move in the same direction. That cannot be achieved without the spread of education. For that the government has to be proactive which it is not. The reason being it is in their interest in keeping the population backward and illiterate, as once education spreads they cannot garner votes from this vast majority. It is this vicious cycle which prevents change from happening and the old system from weaning away. No doubt Facebook, twitter blogs and candle light vigils will put pressure on the government to act in the Delhi gangrape case, but are we expected to do this everytime a rape or murder happens? Is such a campaign sustainable ? How many people in India have access to social networking sites ? The same thing happened with the Anna Hazare anti corruption campaign. With media pressure the crowd collected, in the second stage it went down and now the movement has broken down with multiple splits. Naina, I feel it is the television which reaches remote corners which can make some impact and with education spreading the mindset will eventually change but all this will take time. Our political class has failed us and we have very little options there when we go to vote. Social mobilization like the one we had during freedom struggle requires a committed, selfless and acceptable leadership which we do not have now. Leadership which we can trust to give us a hope to change.

Again, very valid points Uma aunty. We are in a position that we need to really bank a lot on our entertainment industry to spread ideas and ignite minds. Recently ,I was in Mumbai for just two days and yet it was very easy to notice the "class" disparity in every term-economic,social and educational and it felt like the only thing that united all of them to make what the outsiders see as one complete Mumbai were mainly the huge hoarding advertising various movies and tele-serials and other advertisements. It's kind of both amazing and shocking.

Thanks Naina for this thought-provoking post. The past few days had been miserable for me learning about the safety of women in our country. I am left speechless by both the responsibility of the normal citizens, especially students, who protested at India Gate for the unknown girl as well as by our government and politicians whose comments and actions unmasked them how much they care for the people.
Agree with all the replies and hope the spirit and awareness lit by Jyothi Singh Pandey (the delhi victim) continue to change our society and government to make this place a safe home for women.

Thank you B. There is always HOPE!😊

Brilliant piece of writing Naina Di, and you have summed up everything which is the current need of the hour 👏 👏

With regard to the issue that why doesn't every Sandhya find a proper Suraj, the issues are many, ranging from ego problems to perverted mind 🥱 We men never rest easy when we see a woman walking ahead of us and beating us in academics & workplace, well this is the issue with the majority of men, and regarding crimes, well it is happening irrespective of males & females, but now it is more towards women, agree with many here that respect to a woman should be taught right from childhood and there should be no discrimination/favor granted for a boy or girl child, but unfortunately discrimination is yet to go and situations aren't that rosy at the moment, hopefully it will change for the better in upcoming days.

Nice to read a thought-provoking post & awesome replies of everyone around here. ⭐️ ⭐️ 👏
Agree with Uma Ji's points 👏

Thank you bhaiyya for your appreciation as well as inputs.😊
