After the first Modelmodak timeout, Indra sent in Sanaka to dismiss both the openers. However, from that point on, Nahusha & Bhrigni got together, and settled down and applied themselves. bowl the 20th.

@ Blue : 111 would be just a Nelson. A triple Nelson would be 333.

@ Red: Why modelmodak?

Modelmodak - I just conjured up the name - the mod being common.

Yeah, right about the triple Nelson.

I was w/o internet yesterday, hence no matches or scores. If someone wants to fill up the match reports about GG vs PP and SS vs VV, w/ any result, as well as today's games, feel free to do it, and at least provide final scores, so that I can build my points table. I would have done it, but my internet is still patchy. Tomorrow morning, I can fill things up, if my access returns - I just got a short break in right now. You can also fill in the pitch reports of Brahmalok and Vaikuntha. 😆

Reeti, we've had just 2 matches so far. You're not too late.

btw-anyone thought about sponsors and theme songs!

are we going to have a Jumping Jhapang here too?
in that case who will do it?🤣

Shruti

I finally saw the jumping jhapang track the last couple of days. Boy, is that annoying 😆 - especially the 'gillie gillie gillie'. I mean, Gillie only plays for Kings XI Punjab 😆

Actually, a lot of things sound weird - the Yes Bank Sixes, for one. The Strategic timeout - it's still maxmobile? Incidentally, I watched the last 2 matches at night - the midnight replays, and it's a far better broadcast - no commercial breaks, which is heavenly to watch

The Glorious Gunas beat the Prized Prithivs by 4 wickets, in an Epic Match

One of the most talked about matches in the LPL, it surely did prove to be one hell of a nail-biter. The heat of the match could easily be felt, even in the Kailash Stadium's cool weather'. It was a match that placed a brother against another brother and a son against his father'.

Kartikeya won the toss and chose to bat first. Kartikeya and Tarakasur opened with a bang, with each scoring 5 fours and 3 sixes in the first 4 overs. Just when it began to appear that this partnership was going to win the match all by themselves, Tarakasur was bowled around the legs by Mahakal in the 9th over' Kamalaksha was brought in next, but didn't prove to be of any help and returned to the pavilion with only 3 runs' Lakshman, who replaced Kamalaksha is surely a guy who knows how to play his game right! Though not as strong as the opening paternership, Kartikeya and Lakshman managed to score 50 more runs. Just short of 10 runs from scoring his double century and becoming the second player to score 200 runs (1st being Bhasmasur) in the LPL, Kartikeya was caught behind the wickets by Ganesh in the 15th over, and from there onward it was a downhill journey for team PP. Agatsya and Kama returned to the pavilion early with only 2 and 5 run respectively. Veerbhadra's entry did not prove to be of much help as 2 consecutive maiden overs bowled by Vayu and Tarakash, ended team PP's innings, but with a good score of 295 runs.

Team GG knew that the target set for them of 296 runs was not an easy one. The team opened with a steady partnership b/w Markandeya and Nandi' They managed score a good 75 runs, before Nandi was sent back to the pavilion by Shilpi in the 6th over. Shilad came in to replace Nandi, but could not put up a good fight and got run out in the 8th over, while making only 25 runs. Shani dev replaced Shilad and managed to get team GG back on track, thus keeping their hopes of winning the game alive. Tarkasur, who's batting, is considered as his greatest strength, proved himself to be an equally good fielder, when he caught Markandeya's wicket in mid-air. Team GG decided that it was time to send in their most powerful weapon to ensure their victory. Ganesh's entry sent the crowd cheering as he came out of the pavilion and took his position on the pitch. PP didn't know what hit them, as Ganesh sent 3 consecutive balls right into the stands! Shani and Ganesh went on to score 100 more runs. Unfortunately, this partnership was brought to an end, when Shani was bowled out by a brilliant spinner from Kama. With 46 run to win from just 24 balls, the chances of GG winning the match looked very slim, but Nataraj's entry to the game rocked the entire stadium. He proved himself to be very good batsman as he and Ganesh managed to hit 4 fours and 3 sixes and turned the tide around. Team PP, again proving themselves to be a team for others to watch out, managed to get the game down to a '1 ball, 2 runs situation'. But, Ganesh overcame this hurdle by hitting a boundary and winning the game by 4 wickets.

Score Summary:

PP- 295/5

Kartikeya- 190

Tarakasur- 50

Laksman- 45

Mahakal-3/46

Vayu-1/29

GG-298/4

Ganesh-70

Markandeya-62

Nandi-55

Shilpi-2/45

Kama-1/30

SS contain VV in last over thriller

Sizzling Suryavanshis pulled off a dramatic victory in last over theatrics when they managed to contain the Vaishnavs despite having set them a pretty low total.

Daksha won the toss and put Suryavanshis to bat, assuming that the dew later on would make the ball to slippery for the fielding side. SS got off to a slow start, w/ Rishi Garg opening w/ Chanda. Chanda tried to accelerate, and hit four 4s in the second over, but in that very over, he was caught by Varuna off the bowling of Munda. Bhageeratha came in and both batted pretty conservatively until the 9th over, scoring only 30 runs. After the timeout, Narada came in and removed both of them. First, Rishi Garg was lbw to Narada, and in that very same over, Bhageeratha, trying to accelerate, tried to step out and hit, and was stumped brilliantly by Vibheeshan.

Vaishistha and Rama then came in to try and put on a challenging score. While Vaishistha anchored one end, Rama had runs flowing freely at the other, and really took apart the bowling of Munda, Durvasa and Narada. Rama hit a few towering 6s and pretty much forced Daksha to remove them from the attack. However, Varuna came in and clean bowled Vaishistha w/ a brilliant yorker.

Munda then returned, and started taking wickets from the other end. Rama remained not out on 56, but despite his heroics, his side managed only 116 runs, due to both a slow start and a steady loss of wickets. Narada, Munda and Varuna all ended up w/ 3 wickets each.

However, in the VV innings, Hunda removed Durvasa in the first innings itself, who was brilliantly caught at the boundary by Chanda. Daksha, who opened the innings at the other end, batted just like Rishi Garg did, and given the low target, went about scoring just as slowly. There was no heavy hitting from the other end by Rishi Kapila, and in the 9th over, Rama took the ball and removed Daksha, Rishi Kapila and Rishi Gautama all in quick succession.

Varuna then came to the crease and started hitting out, and even Rama was unable to contain him. However, in the 18th, 19th & 20th over, SS' asura bowlers - Chanda, Hunda and Shumbha got into the act. First, Chanda removed Vibheeshan and got Vishnu-Rishi run out, while the very next over, Hunda removed Narada. Finally, in the 20th over, Shumbha struck the last blow by having Varuna caught at the boundary by Rama, w/ the score at 110, w/ 6 runs required of the last 5 balls. However, VV was down to their last pair who just tried taking singles, but keeper Bhageeratha effected a runout in the last ball, giving SS a 2 run victory

SS - 116/10

Rama - 56
Chanda - 19
Garg - 16

VV - 114/10

Varuna - 40
Daksha - 20
Vibheeshan - 15

Following the first round of matches, the teams have all moved on to other grounds - Mathura, Brahmalok and Vaikuntha. Tripura and Gangotri don't host a game until next week.

Our correspondents - Shadow.Daemon @ Mathura, Mr Toolconfuser @ Brahmalok and Minaxi @ Vaikuntha join us. First we go to Vaikuntha, where VV host their first match against the Prized Prithvis. Minaxi, take it away

M: Thank you, Vrish, and fresh from their last ball defeat by GG, I am joined here by Kartikeya, whose side has been busy practicing in order to avoid a repeat of yesterday. Kartikeya, how have your preparations been?

Kartikeya: Well, we certainly are working on our bowling & fielding - if you have to chase 250+ runs, then the batting and fielding has certainly not been doing our job. Ganga has been putting us through the drills and our fitness - you see our players right now all swimming against her current. We want a much more athletic fielding, and far more sensible bowling - just bowling fast ain't gonna cut it, as a good batsman just has to deflect it, which is how too many of the runs came.

Ganga: That's right - our fielding at Kailash was just pathetic - I expected a lot more from our boys. So right now, we are making sure that this doesn't happen again.

Rati: Yeah, this is very important, as we do have to open our account.

Later, Minaxi is w/ the VV side:

M: I now join the VV side. First, to coach Aditi. Aditi, you lost your first game, so how important is this one to you?

Aditi: Very important. Our batting was unacceptably slow, and so we have been practicing that in the nets. While our rishis are playing their anchor roles, they do have to keep taking singles and rotating the strike, so that's what I've been working out w/ them. If we keep batting like we did in Ayodhya, we won't win any matches.

M: You are now at your home ground - what will the pitch be like?

Aditi: This is a pitch that is very good for batting, and a very fast outfield, so runs should be easy to make, particularly since the stadium is smaller.

M: Any changes in the side being played?

Aditi: Sanatana replaces Rishi Gautama in the side

M: Thank you, Aditi, and we now go to Mr ToolConfuser in Brahmalok.

T: Thank you, Minakshi. I am in Brahmalok, where BB, fresh from their whipping at the hands of the asuras, are now at home. I am joined by their coach Sanjana. Sanjana, how are the boys doing?

Sanjana: We have put the memories of that game behind us, but it left us w/ no illusions that we have to improve in all departments. Granted that Bhashmasura & Jalandhar are legendary, but even then, it was not just him, but all of them that gave us a nightmare. So we are back to basics

T: How is the pitch here?

Sanjana: The pitch here is good for spin bowling, since that's where our strengths lie.

T: Any changes in the side being played?

Sanjana: We are dropping Ravan in this game, and replacing him w/ Aghori.

To be continued...

T: I'm now w/ the DD side, which is here at Brahmalok Vatika, following their upset defeat by CC. With me now is manager Prashuti and Indra.

Indra, what lessons have you taken from your defeat against CC?

Indra: Not to take my enemies, er opponents for granted. I was all prepared for the bowling of Nishumbha & Bhrigni, and it was Nahusha who got me 😡 What a snake!!! Anyway, here, we are not underestimating BB.

Prashuti: Yeah, this wicket is one that supports spin bowling, so we will be going in w/ a spin heavy side. Dhoomralochan has been practicing his doosra, and is planning to put it into good use.

T: Any changes in the side?

Indra: Yeah, we are bringing in Raktabheej, and will have Bhrigu bowling as well.

T: Thank you, Indra. Now I turn this over to Shadow.Daemon, who is at the new asura ground at Tripura stadium.

S.D: Thank you, Tool. Yeah, I am here at the new Tripura stadium w/ Changu & Shuki. Changu, you must be feeling on top of the world after your historic opening game?

Vidyunmali: Maybe, but we are not taking this game lightly. It's good that the entire side got a boost in confidence from the opener, and we are gonna take this into the rest of the tournament.

Later, SD joins the CC team, and is w/ Nahusha.

SD: Nahusha, you must be feeling very confident after your upset against the devas the other night. How are you taking this match?

Nahusha: Very seriously, seeing what they did to BB. We need to get Bhashmasura out cheaply - there is no containing him. And w/ Jalandhar, we need to at least take singles and keep rotating the strike. If we stick to the basics, we should win.

SD: How is the pitch?

AsokaSundari: it is a pitch that supports pace bowling, so that our bowlers are helped, and can be as effective as the opposition pacemen.

SD: Thank you Nahusha, and back to you, Vrish!
