btw i think the pigeons story will be reiterated later, because the pigeon will be born as shukdev later i think.

Also wasn't devsena born to help kartikeya kill tarakasura and she joined kartikeya together to kill taraka? I think thats the version i read in the Upendrakishore version of mythology. Correct me Vrish if i am wrong.

LOL Jiten was hilarious as Inder in SGP and he's doing a pretty good job as Purandar.

I really don't understand Parvati's tapasya these days.

I don't think the creatives understand it either. 🤪

Please explain this to me - In the last scene, how come Parvati sensed Nandi's presence and as a result of that opened her eyes, but didn't do the same, sometime earlier when Indra,Mahadev,Nandi,Agnidev,Pawandev and others were present ?Didn't she sense them that time? 🤔

In the last scene,Nandi wasn't even speaking, whereas in the previous scene,a full fledged conversation was involved. But Parvati didn't sense them.Maybe she was too engrossed in her tapasya, but then she did open her eyes when Nandi came 🤔 Yes,the devtas and Mahadev were having their convo a little faraway compared to where Nandi was seated later on.But still..

Im not asking why she din't open her eyes, that's secondary(as i know she was doing penance) my doubt is- had she sensed them or not?If the answer is no,how come?

The devas were outside the cave and it's actually quite some distance from where Parvati is doing tapasya inside. Remember when she first went inside the cave she had to actually walk down a fairly long tunnel before emerging in the space where Shiva was in samadhi, the same place where she is doing tapasya now. So perhaps the devas were far enough away for her not to hear them whereas Nandi went all the way inside and sat down close to her.

Alternatively perhaps she expected the people outside the cave to go away eventually but when someone actually came and sat down near her, she just had to stop and tell him to leave (because that person sitting down meant that he probably wasn't planning to go away on his own).

About Indra, one thing I wondered - why was it argued that he is indispensable? I know that as the god of rain, he is, as are Vayu, Surya, Agni and Varuna. But if Indra needed to be dethroned due to abuse of power, couldn't it have been handed over either to Surya (incidentally, his elder brother) or Jayanta? On the demon side, they went through a whole parade of rulers - Vritra, Taki, Mahishashur, Hiranyaksha, Hiranyakashipu, Bali, Ravan, Narakasura and so on, but on the deva side, it was just always Indra? Makes Devalok look like a one-man dictatorship, while the Asura kingdom look more 'democratic' (at least in terms of having different rulers different times). 😆

Sab vidhi ka vidhan hain. Haha this brings to mind that story I posted in the NDTV Ramayan forum about Hanuman beating up "Mother Fate". Remember? 😆

From the scriptures it seems these cosmic duties are all fixed from the beginning and cannot be changed. Every manavantara has a specific Manu, a specific group (or groups) of devas led by a particular Indra, a specific line-up of the Saptarishi and so on. These don't change (other than temporary mishaps like the Nahusha incident) throughout the 1000 Mahayugas of the manavantara. If there is a rotten apple somewhere, well tough luck, we're stuck with it. 😳

I think she meant the variance in belief about his marital (not martial LOL). Status. In certain traditions (mostly Northern), Skanda is seen as a celibate whereas in others (mostly Southern) he is considered married. Ganesh has the same kind of variance although reversed in terms of the regions.

Tan, this is the first time I'm hearing this.

From what I know, Devasena and Valli were sisters in their previous birth (a version says that they were daughters of Lord Vishnu - still don't know the entire story of their previous births but I read somewhere that these 2 sisters came out of Vishnu's eyes). Both of them did severe penances to obtain Skanda as their husband. The elder sister Amudhavalli (or Amritavalli) worshiped Lord Muruga without taking food or water, hence she was born as Indra's daughter and reached Muruga earlier. The younger one, Sundaravalli, worshiped Lord Muruga but still partook food and water, hence reached Muruga later as Valli.

Kal El,

I thought Ganesh was the one considered celibate by some legends and considered married in others. Didn't know there was a dispute in Skanda's case as well.

Kal

How could I forget? Until then, I used to believe that Vidhi was a guy, until you told us that Vidhi was a gal. Oh, and in that serial, Mahadev, Vidhi & Hanuman played the most sadistic roles one could play in monitoring Luv & Kush's torture tests 😆
