Bang on! In my experience, that's an accurate observation on liberals in most discussions I encountered not just in DM but on other message boards / forums too.

The kicker in that Harry Potter thread was that they liked that main character because he was a flawed / imperfect guy (or some nonsense like that). You would think, by that logic, they would love all of us here on this forum, but no, apparently it doesn't work that way.

May be they do, why assume they dont? 😆
Its easier to condone flaws when you dont have to bear the brunt ergo flawed fictional characters score over real life ones. Simple.

Arjun being a very alert and keen observer noticed that A always left early and so followed him one day and thats how he too joined him for the classes that Drona could not refuse.

But I dont understand why Drona would teach Dhristadyumna, who was Dhrupad's son. Dhrupad had been defeated by Drona (through his students) and then had prayed for a son to avenge his humiliation. Dhristadyumna was born to avenge his fathers defeat so not clear why Drona taught him.

Yeah , that version then relates how Drona asked Arjun to defeat Drupad and gift him the kingdom of Panchal just so he could humiliate his friend. Arjun wore him down basically. 😆
Strange mostly these Gurus send their fav students for life threatening missions to avenge their egos and defeat their enemies - Ramayana one took Ram-Laxman to safeguard his ashram, this one send Arjun to fight Drupad- an Army , Krishna' Guru send him to retrieve his son from ocean demon.😆

I think it was about following the "right dharma" even in adharma , he probably was honouring the prophecy, not disrespecting it and also couldn't turn down his friend's son, a pleading Kshatriya .

Did he not also vow that he won't kill Drupad or Dhristadyumna in the war, rather spent more all his energy in dismantling Pandav forces.

A long shot, it's probably an ego thing too..to train your own killer , some way controlling the narrative. I don't think he was afraid of death , he probably savoured the idea . Kinda makes him seem selfless..i wonder if he asked Dhristadyumna any Guru Diksha😆

I corrected it.. there is this eunuch who kills/manages to harm Bhishm pitamah..

was a girl in previous life...got abducted by Bhishm..was renounced by all.. committed suicide while pledging that in afterlife would be the reason for Bhishm's death..

And then Bhishm had a boon that neither a man nor a woman can kill him..

I think it was bhishm.. i am totally blanking out..

Eunuch was the youngest sister of three in previous life..

There are other such examples as well. Some of them that come to mind right now:

1. Ravana performed yagna on behalf of Rama before the start of the war and blessed him to be victorious.

2. Karna gave his kavach kundal to Indra as bhiksha even though he knew those very things stand between him and his death.

3. Duryodhana asked for Sahadeva's advice about the best time to start the Kurukshetra war so that Kauravas can emerge victorious and Sahadeva gave him that time.

You are talking about Shikhandi.
King of Kashi had three daughters, Amba, Ambika and Ambalika. He arranged for a swayamvar for his daughters, but did not invite king of Hastinapur (Vichitravirja) to the ceremony as they were not on good terms. Bhisma took this as an insult towards Hastinapur and he went to the swayamvar from where he forcibly picked up the three sisters for his brother Vichitravirja. On his way back to Hastinapur he was challenged by King Salva but Bhishma defeated him. Amba the eldest sister had already promised King Salva that she will marry her and when she told that to Bhishma, he decided to release her. She went back to Salva but he refused to accept her. She then went back to Hastinapur and demanded Bhishma marry her as he is responsible for ruining her life. Bhishma being under oath of course had to refuse. She then sought help of Parashuram to make Bhishma marry her. When Parashuram failed to persuade Bhishma, he decided to fight Bhishma to avenge Amba's honour. However, Parashuram was not able to defeat Bhishma. She spent the rest of her life doing penances and even in her next life as Shikhandi he/she continued the life of austerity and penance.

But all that was not needed if only she knew that Bhishma won't take up arms against her. All that penance and everything was for nothing, she could've picked up any fruit knife and killed Bhishma.

Yes, he had the boon of choosing his own death. But even though she may not have been able to kill him, she could've grievously injured him, like what actually happened to him.

So Eklavya's claim to fame is that he quietened a barking dog skillfully? And that trumps all of Arjun's accomplishments? What is wrong with you people?
