@souro... You wouldn't ask that question if you had read Harry Potter in your early teens 😆

Oh I always thought they were the 'saawanla' category.. not really dark tone

And well i was basically referring to the geographic divide..

up-heaven
down-demon (event he depiction displays a bit of regional touch with the body type and moustache)

But then I do agree, Hinduism in South (or any region) also has its own god idols who are modeled after local/cultural traits.

Interestingly, the world has evolved.. but concept of GOD stays.. theology has evolved in terms of philosophies and addition/obliteration of practices but there has never been a world without GOD! .. since humankind began...

Do animals have a concept of God?

And I still find this funny.. snow falling from a crevice and accumulating.. will automatically take the shape of a plateaued cone (least surface area)... and still we believe that amarnath shivling is unnatural...

Om parvat in tibet (think) .. there was some peak found in the ranges of the rocky mountain .. which has an impression resembling Thumps Up .. now that won't make the cola brand a god gifted brand right?

I don't say religion should not exist.. it is one of the form and aspects of the society that provides a common platform for people to bond, for the mind to find meaning when it can't, for the masses to exist with some discipline...but it is fascinating how GOD concept never goes away..

Fear or Knowing that there is a support system is such a great motivator!

It is the greatest philosophical writing ever!😎
You have no idea.. how easy Rowling's projections make it to sail through the hard times..

If you are in a suicidal mode.. just know a dementor is around and all you have to do is..put every ounce of your energy into focusing on happy memories..

Its glileo's theory of earth not being in the center.. one day you shall realize the power of HP writing!!😃😛😉

E.g.
*Trolling or some huge challenge makes it easier to bond 😆 specially with people whom you just can't tolerate (When R, HP, Her finally become friends)

That was to make CG understand why gamers like games by giving an example she can relate to.

Personally I didn't find Harry Potter series to be boring. I like adventure stories and adventure mixed with magic was certainly nice. Reason why I've read all the stories and seen all the movies. Although my disappointment with the characters still stands, especially Harry and Ron.

North India had dark skinned Goddesses and Gods and renowned beautiful. But black and white were mythical manifestations . Kalratri for Goddess was given to celebrate her power to destruct . Kaali , wasn't she requested to seduce or manage Shiva when he went mad with rage.
I think dark or black for demons were used to depict what they represented - bad things. It's not like demons were always stereotyped- many texts reflect on how they looked, worshipped -Shiva, Brahma ..had a Brahmin , as a teacher with genesis from Brahmin varna.

But with different eras how we perceive our Gods , also shifted, depending on realtime prejudices. Like you said, cultural and social impact on how religion be practised . I believe the , followers change/shift and that is reflected on the religion.

Because fear, power and order. an unknown entity and that blinding faith is easy to control and to strike law-order or to cause mayhem. Fear of Death, curiosity for Afterlife keeps it going. We are more worried about what lies beyond death than living the present.😆

No idea but if there is a pack leader , he might as well be God incarnate.

And I still find this funny.. snow falling from a crevice and accumulating.. will automatically take the shape of a plateaued cone (least surface area)... and still we believe that amarnath shivling is unnatural...
Faith is a powerful emotion

😆😆 Well sadly our ancestors preferred Pepsi

Precisely why it won't go away..it helps in binding humanity.

Fear or Knowing that there is a support system is such a great motivator!
Also, fear of unknown.

There are video games that don't involve winning and your character can't die, they are more about problem solving. You can try them if you have the time.

This thread is growing. And it's not just some vapid conversations; most of them could make great debate topics if given a proper structure.

It's possible that
a) not many people are interested in serious, formal, arguments anymore
b) people may have developed shorter attention spans / ADD
c) Instead of jumping from thread to thread, they would like everything to be under one umbrella
d) there are too many things to talk about, that you can think about any one thing for only so much time
e) people are apprehensive that the topics they create may not garner that many replies/views

I think this is the "future" of DM.

Hope France stays strong.

Lone wolf attacks , then it's a challenge for free liberal countries to stop these attacks without turning into police states with excessive security protocols and perhaps sealing the free borders. Worse, fear , paranoia will be on the rise.
