Hey Guys, My second post here, I hope you enjoy this one!

So, after searching a lot of sites and experiencing this myself...I finally found out a topic for debate! It's between history and science.

There will be daily discussions about this. Maybe you can take up a current topic regarding the respective subjects, and create teams among yourselves. Maybe if this goes well, we will talk up another two thing exact anti pole to each other.

So this debate starts today! With best regards...

The Basic Concept of the debate:

History or Science. You have to say for one subject, and explain why it is more useful than the other one. Both history and science has it's uses in our life today, and both of them are important in their own ways. The main purpose is to explain which one is important to you . It will be better if you give real life incidents to explain them.

What debate?? Which one is more relevant? I guess both are equally relevant because I love both. In fact I believe every subject, even those which I despised and in which I scored poor marks in school days, is equally relevant..😳

I hope Rehan I could make myself clear. Will you take like to take side of any one subject😳
By the way @bold, I agree with you. Scoring poor marks can't be the reason of hating or disliking a subject.

Well, history is a branch of social science. Science is essentially the systematic study of anything that can tested, examined and verified.

Applied science will definitely have more practical applicability in society and human lives than theoretical science (pretty much by definition). But without theoretical science and humanities, it's just scattered gibberish (thanks RTH!).

I think scoring poor marks in any subject is the sign that either the student isn't studying the subject or isn't understanding it properly or the question paper has been made unfairly difficult for the student to score a decent mark. It's not always a sign of the student's apathy towards the subject.

Me? I love all subjects, as long as I don't have to study them. 😆

History is a branch of social science, agreed.
Um, I think it's correct that applied science has obviously much more use in our lives than social science, though they are bonded with some connection. Everything involves both of them.

Scoring poor marks is the fault of the student or the teacher sometimes. It is seen that history teachers are boring at times, I have to say there are good teachers , I have faced both kind earlier. But, most of them, they just read out and explain in sheepish way. Not that I always took in that way, I am forced to hear it with utmost enthusiasm for getting good marks.
Nevertheless, students are responsible as well. The craze now is either with engineering or law, and thus history is not given that importance.

Last part: History is interesting to read, not obviously when it comes to remember it, so it becomes boring at times.
To be honest, I never found Science boring, and I am pretty good at it, when it comes to understand it and mug it up at times.

Thanks for sharing your view.

Since you seem to be new in Debate Mansion, lemme just give you a brief idea on how this forum actually works: even though this is a "debate mansion", most topics here are more discussion-oriented than hardcore-debatable ones. 😆 Most members just come here and write their POV without always taking a stance in one specific side. So you might not get that many members taking one side of the debate and arguing in its favor.

History is a social science and chemistry is a natural science. I am going to assume that for the sake of this topic "science" refers to the natural sciences like physics, chemistry, biology etc.

To me all knowledge is worth having.

History and science maybe two different branches of knowledge, but they are closely entwined with each other, and equally relevant.

History is about who we are and how we got here. Science is entwined in history for the steam engine, the splitting of the atom, discovery of distant planets are not just scientific discoveries but historic events that make their mark and change the course of time. Without history we would be nameless creatures with no past, no identity, no culture, no science, nothing to go by. Just meaningless existence.

Science is about studying the world we live in and understanding it. History is entwined in science, because as we seek to explore our world, ask new questions, find new answers and make discoveries we write history, events that will shape the direction of mankind's journey. Without science we would still be cavemen, with no past, no future and every day repeat in the same ignorance. Just meaningless existence.
