It is not an approach, it is a full fledged system of nothing. But guess, I cannot make peace with it like you have, most have. So intrinsically, I pay special attention to what I am interested in and secure marks first hand, so nobody holds me at gunpoint for all the 'marks' I lost.

Which subject you prefer is a matter of interest, inclination and aptitude Sometimes we need to study a subject even if we do not like it , because of academic requirements in career selection.
Yes History is social science and deals with the past, The present will be history tomorrow. Because history tends to repeat itself we can gather useful information and data about past incidents, how and why countries go to war and the politics, culture, arts etc. Those studying law often need to study History. History is a useful tool but by itself it is incomplete as we need to study and understand the behavioural patterns of humans too. This is where science comes in.
Science is more about understanding everything in nature and the world, and also about going further in discovering and inventing new things. Without science we would be still be walking or riding horses instead of driving and flying.
Necessity is the mother of inventions but we do need a politically stable climate to carry out scientific research.

I am only a year older to you.

And I know I have to live with the crappiest of subjects till grade eleven, but somehow as far as marks go, I think you should really try this - excel in the subjects you love, like there is no one better than you. That way, what you dun like would be subsided because you've been excellent in the other subjects. And one can always take it this way - you try, you start understanding the theories, you'd even like History and not have to mug it if you rationalize it and just believe that study can be put to a use apart from securing marks in an exam too, gaining knowledge. And that might help your parents on too.

Well in order to remember what we study, there must be a keen interest. If not, it is one ear in one ear out. I know sometimes it is impossible to like certain subjects, especially if we are falling behind. 😆

Anybody good at English and Math is not going to be a dimwit, right? So, you should understand that no one's asking you to forget Science and Social Science. To understand Science in grade eight, well that should be easy if you understand the MATH of your level. o.O And as for S.St, just read the chapters and throw away your notes, it'd help your percentage a lot if you read the prescribed book when a particular chapter is taken up in the class. The notes the teacher gives actually burdens you.
