So far I am enjoying Ashoka.

NR is such a dreaded word and we have experienced how it is used by idea depraved writers to turn historical into sbs saga! 😡

Not only NR does huge injustice to the real persons who are depicted wrongly but it just gives liberty to writers to distort history to suit their story telling abilities or lack of!

I had read one interview of someone from PH of Ashoka, he had said NR will be limited not distort real history. I hope so.

Ashoka was not a favorite of his father Bindusar, nor his mother Dharma was favorite of Bindusar, this was well known. Instead here they are showing Bindusar loves Dharma and is unaware of Ashoka!

I had a somewhat more ruthless cunning image of Chanakya in my mind. He is coming across more gentle firm but accommodating here.
I liked the episodes where Chankya clears Ashoka of the charges. Frankly was just glad that at least they showed "an investigation" into the attempt on Emperor's life! As we know from previous experience that itself was something to marvel at! 😉

Abhay I hope they will keep NR at the minimum and hope you will make lots of posts here on forum and also on blog.

Hi Maddy,

It was nice to find you on this forum as well.

Lets not talk about JA and the adventures of Khas Dost. :-P
Ashoka is fresh especially for us who were tortured by the previous show. LOL

I will write something about Bindusara and Dharma soon.
Till then am leaving this. :-P

Yes, Chanakya needs to be shown some what more strict and clever.
He was an "unbeatable politician". NR is there, but it's bearable till now.

@Blue..You are right.
The thing is -> this show gives entertainment unlike the last one.!

Yes, I will keep writing, but at a slow pace as per my time availability. !
Hoping to see you regularly here. :)

Bindusar and dharma eager to knw about this couple. as far as i know their track seems to be real as being neglected by the king is shown...

About Chanakya i think Cv want him to show he is old and tired and the person who is waiting for the person who will not need the guidance of him or protection of him thats y he is not seen as actual... besides i have read that when bindusar got to know about her mother's death he condemn Acharya Chanakya he explained but seeing the doubt he went from their and and he starting fasting and starving.. after few days or month bindusar got to know the truth from old people who were present at that time to save him Chanakya did this. he send the one of the Amatya named i forgot the name it started from S Who was jealous of Acharya Chanakya set him fire and Acharya Chanakya died...

I doubt Chankya ever had met Ashoka... or may be possible this incident will take place in future and Ashok had met him after the revelationof Dharma and Ashok's identity... as the records are not found in proper manner we cant say anything

Dont know lets see

This is my first thread on this forum.

Started watching this show for my love of history. Though, history has been taken for a toss, so i won't be talking about that here.
We all know lot of NR is going on. { NR = Natkiya Rupanter = Dramatization}

Anyways, one thing which these shows make many of us do is - The reading associated with the characters of the show, in order to ascertain the real picture (as much as possible).

Coming to the show, i enjoyed the manner in which Chanakya has been portrayed. It's fine if not perfect. I was very much impressed to see the Court room like proceedings depicted during the trial of Asoka.

Till now also it is fine, though I expect some more shrewdness and strictness from his character, as the show proceeds, because that is his image which is portrayed in contemporary texts..

BTW, Here is an interesting read about Chanakya.
Chanakya talks about the manner in which a king should test the character of his ministers
. :-P > Link Here

I gave the link here :
https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/post/119083468

Indeed, Chanakya was a master politician, and what not. !

PS :
The child actor playing Asoka is simply perfect. His being a gymnast is an added advantage for the PH. He walks less and performs more of gymnastic feats. :-P

Abhay congrats, Making a first thread this Forum.

i also liking this show. i not know, its NR, or Real facts, but show Has binding astemena,
or connecting language with Audience.

second thing, is, Attitude of Everycharcter, is giving feeling, Historical.

Chanakya, Good teacher, Knows Ashoka qualites, or Giving shape, to Ashoka, After getting shape, His qualties will be more spreaded, or History is giving witness.Or Ashoka is Alive
also today. A

Ashok Stambh, is Big, Ex.

Liking Ashok, & Mother intimassy, yesterday episode, Bindusar +Ashoka, Heart feelings were connecting, secene was good. my song land is ready,😆 😆

Liked, Bindusar says, Blood is feeling same. (Bindusar +Ashoka )

Ashoka mother taught, Non violance method, Chanakya taught, King's, Life style or how King should be, or Ashok, is Ex of Both.

He was perfect on Both fields.

Liked Ashok, ans, King should treat another King, as a King full Manner.

This thought should be Learn everyone, because less people follow this.

Completely agree Bindusar saying Ik waqt toh aisa lga mera hi rakt hai it was so ironically. and then bindusar said Vaise hi jaise ek samrat ko dusre samrat ko krna chaahiye remembering the ashoka's words.

Hi Shivani..

Remember you from JA Forum, from your comment on a wife of Akbar saving his Life once, endangering herself. I think i am right.? :)

Yup, you are correct. The show has fine blend of everything but historical accuracy, which is something i am finding hard to digest. Asoka is one whom i regard a LOT. Don't want this show to go the JA way. Lets see, it's too early to judge..

More than the show, it's the reading about the REAL ones which is interesting. Also, I am equally enjoying what ever you all are sharing here. :)

About Chanakya, i am at loss of words to explain that person. He is truly the BisMarck of India. ! or i must say Bismarck was the "Chanakya of Prussia". Both played SOLID roles in the unification of their nations.!

But, What Chanakya wrote 2300 years back is remarkable even by today's standards. A feat unparalleled. !

Loved and agreed with everything in your post. But one small correction: Bismarck of India is the epithet of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. Chankya would be the 'Machiavelli' of India.

Buddhist legends mention he killed 98 brothers, though this claim is contested, as you said.
Yes, Sushima was the heir apparent. :)

I found a translated version on ethics of warfare form Arthshashtra by Kathiresan Ramachanderam and Dyarne Jessica Ward. HERE

ROFL. My brain is similar as yours.
Infact, i too learn a lot from what is being posted here. :)
Great to know your range of interests. Mine are also quite diverse. :-P

Thanks for the link & details, it was very interesting to read. :)

@Bold...
As i said earlier, Sheldon's dialogues are enough to unarm any opponent.
You brought it in practice. :-P

Yes, this is true. :)

The name of that Amatya was Subandhu / Saubandhu, he is mentioned in some Jain text.
But from what i have read, Chankaya was in a position to attain Nirvana.
It looks like a voluntary death.

I am still searching about this, as i have not got the translation of the text which is not in English. Same is case with Dharma-Bindusara angle. The translation of text is not available with me. As soon as i get, i will post on these issues. :)
