If you've decided on doing a Read-along, then it's normal to even post quotes, and thoughts as you're reading.

Again - the rules are upto you - the group in the Read-Along. I'm not going to interfere. Whatever works best for you!

I agree with the read along thing, then we can just discuss an incident of the book or a quote or positives/negatives, theories etc as we read while making sure it won't rend to be a spoiler for the people in here. I'll probably finish 10 chapters till Wednesday/Tuesday, then I would like to discuss at least first 5/6 chapters if that's ok with you all.

We don’t need to worry about spoilers as much because the people not participating in that book’s read-along will know not to venture into that thread since we have already put a disclaimer saying that the thread will NOT be spoiler-free. It doesn’t make sense to expect people to realistically have proper discussions on the book as well as keep it spoiler free. And for those who are in the read along but haven’t caught up with the rest of the group - they will know to stay away from the thread until they have caught up and are ready to discuss the portions that the group has agreed on.

Lizzie, please add my name, the name of ThaneOfElsinore, and the name of GumnaamHaiKoii to the list of participants for the buddy read of The Merchant of Venice. There are total 5 participants in that buddy read.

Lizzie, I've a question. Suppose, I start reading a book with a person and then after reading some chapters or stories, that person cannot continue reading the book anymore due to a personal problem. Can I continue reading that book alone? Or do I need to stop reading it too because it's a buddy read. And do I need to inform you if I decide to read alone? This type of situations can happen with anymore. A person can face difficulties in his/her personal or professional life. Then it becomes very difficult for that person to concentrate anymore.

Yeah you can continue. And the other person can just log the pages they've read.

If you discontinue just update the thread title - saying it's been discontinued or abandoned.

I've a question related to buddy-read. If a participant of a buddy-read decides to listen to the audiobook version of a novel and another participant reads the paperback version or the e-book version of the same book, is that okay? Or do all the participants follow the same format?

You can read any format you want to. Just that in case of classics you will have to agree on a version.

Do you mean abridged and unabridged versions? I prefer to read or listen original and unabridged versions only in case of classics. If two participants decide to read Sense and Sensibility one can read the paperback version and another participant can listen to the audiobook. But both of them need to select the same version (either abridged or unabridged). I think that's what you meant. Am I correct?

Reading books and novels boosts our minds. Also helps to make our communication better. We can make our understanding better while reading books.
